I cannot find it, but I may be looking in the wrong place, when is the next patch (raid) due to drop for Cata Classic? I just came back to Classic a few days ago and being so late, finding a raid slot on Bene is pretty much out of the question. So figured I’d just come back a few days before next patch and see what’s up then.
This feels like trolling ngl
Phase 1 has been out 3 weeks and phase 1 raids less than 2. If you’re feeling behind now, coming back a few days before the next raid is def not going to help.
For better or worse there will be shakeups in guilds as people feel aggrieved by their current guild - lack of progress, loot drama, frustration over getting benched, etc.
It’s not like 100% of raids are locked in for the phase, even if they may not be entirely sure what they need atm.
There is no specific date announced for p2 or for p3 that I’m aware of, and Blizz’s ambiguity around “phases will be short, unless we decide otherwise” means it’s still an open guess.
As the user above me stated it’s only been live for three weeks, and with the new Valor cap change you can’t fall behind so easy as you can now accrue all the valor you’ve missed while gathering the heroic pieces you need.
Not trolling at all. I’ve asked every single guild that’s said they’re looking for people about getting in, even as an alt and doing off nights, all have said no. All of them have also wanted current logs, which I obviously don’t have. I’m not mad or anything just trying to decide what to do. Kinda feels like just coming back later is easier than just being solo and hoping. But thank you for the response, it was helpful.
Just to clarify, guilds are advertising (in trade or lfg) and they’re responding when you whisp in response to their ad.
So the issue presumably either is class/role, gear, or experience (logs).
The first will be an issue with almost any guild. If you really want to main Warr tank [just as an example], and aren’t willing to flex to dps, then yeah, you’re looking for a specific thing that’s going to be rare [warr MT], and you may have to be less selective about which guilds.
Same applies to logs - in theory only really sweaty guilds are looking at logs in week 2 at least for a try out, but it is also true (imo) that Cata content is more challenging than say, Naxx or Kara.
Most guilds can’t carry anyone that easily, and most guilds that could carry someone through normal are doing/progging H and also can’t carry anyone right now.
That said, i’d encourage you to keep looking, maybe talk to someone specifically about what you’re offering vs. what the market is looking for, and how to find a good match.
BH is a raid that is usually pugged (tho can be hard for certain competitive roles), the hitch being most groups don’t raid log it, though you could, but it might be a place where a guild might give you a low stakes try-out. Likewise, heroics can be a place to give prospective raiders a try out.
I think if you leave and come back, none of those issues will be addressed. I would encourage you to keep looking a bit more (particularly at less- or possibly least-sweaty guilds, at least as a place to start and get experience/gear/logs), and maybe do your own advertising.
They’re always going to want current logs whether you try for a spot first week of raids or come back just before the next patch. It’s a quick and easy way to weed through the applicants. Personally I go with current and older logs along with a conversation on expectations and gear inspection to fill the spots. A lack of a current log isn’t going to kill it this early on, but being lazy with pre-raid BiS is. As each week goes on the gearing expectations get higher for all recruiters.
I’m a frost dk, that’s what I play and have mained since Aug 2010 in retail, and what I continue to play in classic versions of the game. I’m not sure how you got warrior tank in the second sentence but that’s okay. Additionally, I’m not going to ask to be put into a role where I don’t have experience. I’m a lot of things, profoundly dumb isn’t one of them.
With that said, I am not asking to be carried and I have never asked to be carried. There is an assumption, and I believe a correct one, that off night raids are to gear alts and help folks get up to speed on mechanics. That does not imply that someone is a hard carry because they have NO gear or that they are just to stupid to know mechanics.
The issue here is that I’ve been back for 2 and a half days, only have 344 ilvl gear, and have no previous logs. Literally every single guild that I’ve spoken to, even ones saying they are casual, wants logs and at least a full normal clear. As time progresses, getting to that point as an outsider becomes more and more difficult. Which is fine, no one is entitled to join a guild and participate in their activities.
This is a very frustrating statement because it implies that I am just to stupid to have not already done this. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to respond and your thoughts.
Unless I missed it, you hadn’t provided much info so I was guessing.
Role/expectations mismatch is a big conflict, so I started there. My intent wasn’t to imply you were dumb, I was just working on low info and trying to be helpful.
You had a good reply Ammoxicillin. I think his reply is showing why he’s having trouble finding people to play with him.
344 isn’t bad - a lot of guilds will take 340+ for normal content. I think based on the add’l info you’ve added is the 2.5 days bit.
You’ve progressed fairly quickly it seems on the in-game stuff, but the networking can take time, esp. if you don’t have logs.
I would just keep at it, tbh.
they also asked a question that could have been googled so if that tells you anything…
Lol, OP posts on a warrior, and gets upset when people assume he plays warrior and don’t know he’s been maining a DK since 2010
This^
Explain it’s been 2.5 days so you don’t have the logs or the full gear yet, but you’ll be ready by next week type of deal.
Look for your server’s discord. A lot of networking and finding a guild happens there as well as in LFG/Trade chats.
Also, fair warning, being defensive on an assumption due to lack of information throws a red flag on potential personality conflicts happening. Try not to do that.
I’m not sure if you know this or not, but you can post on different characters. This character happened to be the one that was used last. Additionally, this char is a retail char, not a Classic char, not sure if you knew that either.
I’m not the one upset people assumed you were a warrior ![]()
I actually didn’t even assume they were a warr, originally I’d written Holy Priest. But prot warr was a better example of mismatch for where the meta is so I rolled with that.
It was actually just coincidence.
You went out of your way to make a comment that was so unneeded. So instead of saying, whoops I made a mistake, you try and gaslight me saying that I’m upset, which I am not. Hope you have a great rest of your day. Some of the responses here have been informative, yours wasn’t and not needed.
