Next class leaked!

…Yes, I know. That does not mean I wan’t to see it in every dungeon because everyone that is a bard wants to macro it to something.

God back in Cata when Skyrim came out EVERY warrior with dragon shout had macroed “Fus Roh Dah!”

Oh no I was just telling you since you made a Witcher reference. I just thought it was cool information. I’m completely indifferent about all of this

I suppose it’s obligatory that I bring up Dragonsworn again as a potential class.

Should we ever actually get to the Dragon Isles for whatever reason and jump back wholesale into the current politics of the dragonflights, I see this an obvious choice.

One huge plus is that its design would be entirely unburdened by expectations. The developers could do whatever they wanted to with the concept and make a class that’s truly designed for modern WoW without the hangups that exist for many of those already existing.

Ret Paladin is a Bard.

Why stop there? The class is a literal dragon, who’s humanoid form is the race you pick.

Can be any race, even new ones that have had zero contact with dragons at all, because you’re not a member of that race. You’re a dragon who felt like looking like that race.

We have undead bards in maldraxxus too. Roaming the seat of the primus

Personally I see some evidence of them sneaking in support roles into the game. Night fae priest and paladin covenant abilities are entirely centered around temporary and changing buffs.

I think we’ll see more support identity sneak into the game via the hybrid classes, and bard would be a great fit for this.

No need for new classes, just add some of these as a new spec onto existing ones.

  • priest: necromancer (DPS, maybe tank)
  • rogue: bard (healing)
  • hunter: ranger (healing)

And so on.

The problem is if you add an entirely new class it needs at least 3 specs with significant differences in play styles between them. That’s a lot of new specs that will probably overlap existing ones. It’s far easier to just expand existing classes with one new spec.

Here comes the bard! LOL

You know what would be a better fit?

Shaman and Paladin.

Yes, they received a few low impact nods to their previous design with Shadowlands, but until they become fully realized support classes, I highly doubt we’ll see Bard. And if we do get them with current design? We’ll be getting a class named Bard, but they won’t be Bards.

I have no issue with getting the support role back in the game. It’s my preferred role in any RPG, and something that rarely receives any attention in video games in general.

I just think it’s a pipedream to expect it in WarCraft over a dozen years after they left the role behind.

I suppose. But if it’s ever been “the most back” I’d say it’s right now. I think they’re affraid of buffs being too strong and breaking the game, because we all know that an initial release bard will either be too strong or too weak. I’d try to err towards too strong, and also make shamans and paladins have access to similar buff abilities in the way that a bard does.

Or, just keep the support abilities light and flesh out combo based attack and heals that make the class feel like playing music.

Only if you pick the most boring options.

Tinker wouldn’t overlap with a single theme of another class.

Guess they’d BARDly take it, maybe they’d have to face the MUSIC

The only reason I don’t really want tinkers is that I feel like I’d be trapped in mechagon content again and I don’t really want that as an expansion focus.

Tons of people do though, and they have a right to ask for what they want.

I just think Bard fits western fantasy DnD aesthetic way more, which is what WoW is generally about.

We said that about Demon Hunter though… and that they would have a ranged crossbow spec…

We already have tinkers.
