[News] Shadowlands Class Updates

For me, it’s the constant battle to build up those Insanity buff stacks. After Void Form ends I get about 5 seconds of feeling like I am doing good damage before it’s back to building up Insanity. It is that up and down cycle for Shadow that puts me off. Toss having to move into the mix frustrates me even more.

Please change demo lock. Tyrant is cool and all but it is complete trash in pvp, like actual trash. Both the other specs have two major cooldowns and a dot or more. Demo has 0 dots, i’m a warlock with no dots like what. Just give us doom back baseline and give us Thal’kiel’s Consumption back. Maybe nerf tyrant a tiny bit? idc, just give us some burst that isn’t able to be shut down as easy. Also consider giving us a second cd along with tryant like a meta form like we had years ago, just name it differently, it was literally the best thing ever.

What I’m thinking would be neat, and what would maybe make a lot of people happy and give some variety…

Baseline for all hutner specs.
We get weapon slots back like in classic.
You’ve got your two melee slots and your single ranged slot.

Then you’ve got two “stances”.

Ranged - Draw [weapon type] (bow, gun, xbow) fills in the name based on weapon used.
Melee - Draw [weapon type] (everything they can use melee)

Polearms occupy both slots as usual.

Your current drawn weapons will use all your abilities and those are the stats you’ll make use of.

So no reason to change abilities, cobra shot can still be cobra shot, you’re just using it from melee with swords…if it’s really important, just swap the word shot for strike when in melee stance.

You can then equip whatever weapons you want.

If the player wants they can focus on ranged…they could focus melee…they could stance dance and used ranged when needed and melee when they want.

Then you could play a beastmaster like Rexxar using a pair of axes from melee alongside your wolf.

You could stay at ranged while playing survival.

Play as you want.

Ahh, I spend a whole lot of time in void form.
Does the talent that instantly puts you back in not help much?
I’m not using it, i’m using the AoE that applies Pain on everything and bumps up insanity to like 80 in one go, real quick way to get back into voidform. Also a great abilitiy for AoE since Spriest lacks that in other areas.

I have some pretty big concerns about what I’m seeing for shaman. I probably don’t speak for all shaman, but my action bars are completely full as is. I currently have to shift+/- to cast to some spells on the hidden action bar. When I look at available items to choose to equip, I lean towards something that has an on-proc rather than something better that’s on-use, simply because I can’t find room to fit it and feel comfortable that it will always stay on cooldown.

Now I’m going to have to find room for more heals as elemental (which I probably won’t use but will feel guilty for not), more damage as resto (which I probably won’t use but will feel guilty for not), and more /cry macros as enhance (definitely gonna rock those bad boys).

If we’re getting all these spells back I would love to see some abilities merged together. I feel like I’m always late to the fight spending global cooldowns just so I can start doing respectable damage.

Like I said, it’s the up and down feel. The rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. “Alright! I did good with that void form! Oh wait, it’s gone again.” The numbers may be ok, but it’s the gameplay that I try to find a way to like but just can’t.

Edit: It’s a spec that mentally punishes you, even when played flawlessly.

Sadly, Blizzard says no to stances as they are “too difficult and confusing” :frowning:

Aren’t they bringing them back for other classes? Having a stance that’s basically just a “choose the weapons you like” is pretty simple.
If that’s confusing, then someone needs to go back to grade school =P

The war changes sound nice on paper for at least Fury and Arms. Prot needs to move away from Thunderclap spam and go back to revenge being a rage generator. Then those changes sound a whole like better to me.

That’s stupid. Then why are they giving all these stupid shield options back to all warriors if you can’ jump into the tanking stance?
Are they actually putting thought into this?

Small correction: Druids don’t have Innervate, it was removed from Feral and Guardian a few expansion ago.

And, in this “great unpruning”, they didn’t even bother giving it back, so no, we still don’t have Innervate.

Simply put I imagine warriors will have to swap to sword and board, but there won’t be a stance change involved as well. That is, if they actually have to change to sword and board at all and not just modern spell reflect mechanic of “magical shield appears on arm”

That’s dumb.
I figured you’d just mash your equip macro to switch out weapons and shift into tank stance like we used to.
It’s always real fun when the tank drops and you used to be able to pick up the slack and now can’t. Same for my paladin here.

As I often see asked for, it’d also be great to see some sort of shaman spec or stance for tanking.

Give warriors the gladiator stance back.

Give death knights theirs back.

Make Melee and ranged stances for hunters.

More options to play how you want are great. I’m not always a fan of seeing things removed, I prefer them to be come optional so people can play how they like.

Beastmaster with swords or axes? Yes please.

A playable mok’nathal hunter with dual axes wailing on stuff alongside his wolf…I want.

Yeah agreed, in a way they brought back some buttons warriors wanted returning but misunderstood the concept of what they actually wanted to return.

Our old utility was great.
I mean even being able to switch to tank while in fury to pick up some slack would be great, tanking a ranged mob while others focus the main one, even without shields equipped, but having the option to do so for a bit more defense and access to the slams and such.

Dps sword and board would be a nice option. Same abilities, just less threat generation.

Does sound like they were misunderstanding some things.

Seeing lots asking for survival to be ranged.
Having the option to play it either way, as well as the other specs would be great.

It’s just odd there’s not more weapon choice in hunter.
I was trying to see what weapons the guy used in the old Beastmaster tv show…looks like a bladed staff/spear. No bow. He’s a beastmaster.

The well known in-game beastmaster, Rexxar, uses axes.

Legolas, primary bow, secondary long knives.

Drizzt, primary swords, secondary bow.

Seems like being able to use which is needed fits the fantasy very well.

Doesn’t Sylvanas even switch to her sword at times in-game?
