As a Prot pally main it feels fine to me on current GCD (that might change with the addition of holy power management), I thought Retribution was more significantly effected since it still ends up with dead zones in its rotation if Art of War doesn’t proc often enough.
Fair enough, I just heard people were having a problem with Light of the Protector or something as it was added and kept on the GCD.
Rets problems aren’t really gcd related, more to do with how the spec is now based around random procs and pressing buttons as they come up.
Technically for Ret the GCD change actually filled out their rotation by giving them an extra GCD to use every so often lol.
I’m yet to have any issues with my use of light of the protector. It’s not even my “oh sh*t” button so I just use it on CD if I’m at 1/3rd health roughly.
Yeah I probably am misinterpreting my inability to interrupt my rotation to play whack a mole (ie me being a bad retadin) for a gcd issue. I would like to see the CD in blade of wrath reduced to cut out the dead zone in my rotation when I get a fat zero procs.
If they’re gonna roll us back to a past point in time, Legion is much preferred, as this was when they took out the most abilities; many of which actually made each class spec feel differentiated.
Yeah, I’m not excited for the return of Wotlk-style pendulum rotations on boomie. Maybe Blizzard forgot we were crap back then? It’s that type of game play that caused my Boomie to take a back seat to Hunter in Cata.
Only thing I liked is not having to aim Starfall. I was actually hoping they’d make treants baseline again instead of a talent, return some of the Nature to the Nature-casting spec.
On paper, it sounds like Balance and Guardian are going to be awful in SL. Balance just needed some tweaks, not an overhaul.
I’ve played Rogue, Hunter, Monk, and DH all at a Mythic raid level.
Havoc isn’t really that much different than many other specs. Since Legion, almost no DPS spec/rotation is hard and saying otherwise shows that you don’t reeaaalllyy have a solid grasp on the situation.
Havoc is fun because it’s mobile and there’s always something going on. There aren’t as many choices to make as some specs but it’s obvious when you’re playing with a “meh” DH vs. a great one. But to say Outlaw or BM or WW are harder specs? Bruh. That crap is just as easy.
As a baseline ability not as a talent.
Currently you need to talent into immolation aura, instead of it being a baseline ability.
Shaman Feedback:
I am glad shaman are getting some love. Some early feedback. I know it is probably better to wait to see the new iterations but early feedback never hurts.
I am a bit worried about the focus on lava surge. Lava surge is fun when you can spread flameshock on multiple targets. That is not always the case. Making that a focus of the spec will make the lack of procs really frustrating in single target situations. If BFA got anything right with elemental shaman design, it was that, for the first time since i can remember, I didn’t feel weak during single target boss fights.
As we move toward a more cooldown based class please consider making abilities like elemental blast and initial icefury cast and even lava burst do meaningful damage.
Please please find a way to bring back stormblast from MOP. the animation was spectacular.
For restoration, I am excited about the kyrian ability because I have really missed ancestral guidance and the fun things we could do with it with other spells like ascendance and cloudburt totem.
Overall, I didn’t think i would ever be excited about wow again after BFA beta but you have proved me wrong. Good job! we will be watching to make sure the vision comes to light through out the beta process.
Some great thoughts from one of the top warriors on his Patreon.
Sub and Assassination need Gouge back.
SND for all specs.
Premed for Sub.
SV Hunters should be reverted to ranged since many people feel like their class was deleted from their accounts three years ago.
No, they should add a fourth spec that’s essentially just ranged Survival. There are people who like having a melee hunter spec - They wouldn’t want it taken away from them anymore than ranged survival fans wanted ranged survival taken away from them. Removing things is not the solution.
Unpopular opinion but…I like Survival being a melee alternative. There wasn’t much that made it different from the other two specs.
Removing things is not the solution.
They aren’t going to do either until they fire Ion sadly. If it wasn’t for the 3 years of taunts I’ve received from the few dozen MSV hunters over the past three years, I would agree with you.
Blizzard still doesn’t get it. Sure, class abilities are great and bring concepts together. I think people probably don’t care at this point that there are 35 or so different classes. What gives a player identity with their character are those iconic abilities that don’t necessarily have to do anything but flavor. Give players the chance to be quirky without needing to do things out of character. Give back identity and choice. Even classic doesn’t do that last one as much as when patch 1.1 was alive.
Seals, auras, blessings; vampiric embrace; powerful hybridization; freedom to choose your weapon style as arms or fury no matter the effectiveness; situational at best abilities; roleplay abilities (many of which could actually have gameplay implications if blizzard wanted to make them dual function)
Part of what made class identity important was the actual need for that class identity. A need for that versatility of being able to tap into other styles to overcome challenges. An example that is easier to see than others would be elemental immunities (kind of silly that fire can be hurt by fire isn’t it). Even if this concept was basically scrapped as new raids came out, you had a whole toolkit. For another comparison from outside the game that was heavily influencing the game: in D&D the power of wizards weren’t that they could blow things up, but that they are so versatile that they could have a spell for any situation.
Not that blizzard would even understand that necessity is an actually important concept anymore other than making 100 ilevel jumps between raids just to force people to keep working when keeping people playing is more important.
In regards to Hunters, sometimes you just gotta deal with the change they make for specs. I never asked them to delete Combat and make it Outlaw instead, so there’s that. Just play the spec you’ve mastered most then eventually try Survival or whatever the issue is for these paragraphs of replies
Squint really hard and outlaw can look like combat again.
Not when you got stuff called roll the bones or whatever, some hook ability that’s supposed to mirror shadowstep, etc. I never have been a Combat/Outlaw Rogue anyways thru my time since BC. Always Assassination/Sub
I love the looks of all these changes, but one thing is very important to say. None of this matters if you don’t revert the GCD. it doesn’t matter how many abilities you give us back, if they all take a full second to use in the middle of combat, the gameplay still won’t be fun. I get it, you wanted to avoid macros being an entire rotation. But was that really a problem that needed fixing? No. For 95% of people, it didn’t matter, but 100% of people feel the GCD. So please, please, please, revert the GCD to Legion days. For all players. Everyone would thank you for it.
Warlocks are pure DPS yet I don’t see much happening for them. They are garbage this expansion and desperately need some help. So??? I mean hybrid classes are out DPSing them. That should not happen.
