[News] Shadowlands Class Updates

any chance for Single-minded Fury Warriors coming back?

Seeing as class design is going back to the ways of the class mattering over the spec, and seeing as Legion artifact weapons are no longer mechanically a part of the game, can we please be allowed to transmog weapons to artifact appearances regardless of specs? I want to play 2h frost in Shadowlands, and I think it would be really nice to be able to use Bonereaper and Faminebearer or other Unholy artifact appearances as a Frost DK. Most artifact weapons make sense being used thematically regardless of spec (would it really be so weird seeing a hpal with Ashbringer?) that I think this change should be implemented.

I see you also don’t have any PvE feats of strength. So if arena doesn’t mean anything and PvE doesn’t mean anything, what holds meaning for you in the game?

I think the changes are garbage, across the board, and It’s looking like I won’t be playing Shadowlands after all by what I’m seeing. Blizzard is completely out of touch with what the player base wants and it is painfully obvious. Ion needs to go.

I’ve played it, still don’t like it because of holy power and this fact will never change. Also top 3 most fun when they butchered every class’s fun with the GCD changes etc, on top of being a bad expansion doesn’t say much at all.

Lmao garbage warlock changes why would we want that.

If your bringing doom back make it hand of doom

Take implosion and bury it and make bilescourge bombers baseline.

Bring meta form abilities back idc about the form anymore. I did like having wings from dark apotheosis though.

Can you guys drop all of the felguard talents.

When abouts did you unsubscribe? The GCD changes have mostly been fixed throughout BfA.

Notable specs still affected negatively are BM Hunter, both DK specs, and I belive Prot Paladins.

If you’re not one of those specs it’s mostly a non-issue, but if you play any of those it might still be a problem for you.

My main concern with bringing back the weapon wielding styles to specs that used to have both dual wield and 2hand style is this: The changes to remove those from the specs was when personal loot was introduced, with personal loot now being the default. Are they going to make it so you can’t get 2hand weapons as a dual wield player in a spec that allows both, or are you going to be disadvantaged compared to classes with only 1 style of weapons? For example, hunters only need ranged or 2h melee, depending on spec, and they’ll never get a weapon of the other type unless they spec for it. I don’t want to be spammed by 2h weapons, taking up loot slots while playing dual wield.

I disagree, I like a lot of the changes and a lot of people I’ve talked to are excited for them too. For instance with Subtlety, moving Find Weakness and Dark Shadow to baseline for Sub opens up 2 new talents on high-damage talent rows. We’ll have to see if the 2 new talents are any good though.

I’m also excited to hear more details about the Balance Druid eclipses and if they will be anything like the old eclipses, which I loved. Ideally I would want Starsurge and Starfall to return to a 3 charge system with a chance for your DoTs to give you a charge, instead of the astral power system. I’m glad shamans are dumping maelstrom as a resource. I see these changes as several steps in the right direction, and haven’t seen anything that I’m mad about like I was with BfA prepatch. If they bring back tier sets I might bust a nut.

Of course there’s always more that we could ask for. I would like to see honor talents completely removed or made baseline, we lost many baseline abilities/passive just to have them added as honor talents. Having things that can enrich our rotations or give us utility in PvE being taken to add appeal to war mode isn’t a good thing, to me. Edit: Also bring back master loot for mythic raids

Please get rid of ARMS MASTERY - DEEP WOUNDS.
It feels horrible. So much damage is passive.

Replace it with what we had in leigon.

Since people are making requests, perhaps you could give Feral/Guardian Druids the ability to duel wield? it was fun to do back in legion, and it would allow you to spread around the 1h agility weapons to another class

" As a result, Hunters’ core damage rotations will remain familiar in Shadowlands

Please do not leave hunters in their current iteration. I have not touched Survival since it was made a melee spec, and sorely miss the old ranged form of Survival from WoD.

But if that’s too much to ask for, please revert the rework that was done to Marksmanship in BfA. In Legion, it was perfectly balanced in the middle of the pack of DPS, and it was satisfying to play around the vulnerable where using a proper rotation allowed the player to have near 100% uptime on vulnerability. It was also great in AoE scenarios in which I knew I could have my moment on the meters with Marked shot and Trick shots.

In contrast, the current Marksmanship hunter has had the cast time of Aimed shot doubled, making it feel like a pain to cast, as well as having a cooldown on top of that so we have moments of downtime. Our next biggest hitting ability, Rapid Fire, is only used because of the haste buff from the “In the Rhythm” azerite trait, and I don’t see it being a part of our rotation once that’s gone. Marksmanship’s AoE right now is also in this really niche area of 3-6 targets with trick shot, and even then we are not the best in those situations. On top of that, with the GCD changes, Hunter’s Mark and Trueshot create more unnecessary downtime while playing as I have to wait for the mark to apply to a new target, activate trueshot, and then begin my rotation.

I do hope someone at blizz reads this and considers changing Marksmanship to something more similar to what we had in Legion, because there’s no way I could handle another expansion with the current iteration of Marksmanship.

My main gripe is still the GCD, hope we hear more on that!

Would have thought priest shield would have come to holy, or at least give us an actual defensive

MM has been flaming excrement since the Legion pre-patch (IMO)

I like a lot of what I see. As a pally main since TBC I am quite excited about most of what was put out for paladins.
Returning abilities:
Blessing of sacrifice was already present for Holy and Protection, having added to Retribution seems meh. Sure it adds a little utility but I don’t see it as being used often if seldom at all.
Hammer of wrath is nice, I think it will help flesh out the retribution rotation and will be nice to use in a Holy pally damage equals healing type of situation. Not to mention leveling a holy pally will feel doable again.
Sense undead, nice for RP and lore, not really good for much else. It’s like contemplation. Fun, but not useful.
Shield of the Righteous. I’m not sure why this is being made baseline for all specs. Makes sense for protection, and even for a shield equipped holy paladin. Not so much for retribution. But I will reserve any judgement on it until I read the updated tooltip for how it will work in shadowlands but if it works like how it did before 5.0 I think keeping it as a prot and holy ability works best.
Turn Evil feels niche but a niche utility fear is better than not having one at all.
Word of Gory! SO GOOD! I’m immensely happy I won’t have to talent into it now freeing me up to make a better spec related choice. It allows for greater Holy and Protection paladin sustain, and Retribution gets a small little group heal they can pop off if there is an “oh ****” moment without the need for using up a talent to snag it. Again my favorite ability to be made baseline.

Auras:
Concentration aura feels a little weak but I’m not sure what a good fix there would be.
Retribution aura needs to be rethought. The idea of a successful group comp is that your allies are going to die. So Avenging wrath on ally death isn’t really going to be that useful unless you are either in a bad group or are overpulling. I’d rather see it do something like increase haste or reduce cooldowns for other abilities on judgement or hammer of wrath use. That would also help cut down on dead time in rotations, especially in retribution spec which if RNJesus isn’t being particularly favorable to you can feel not good.
Devotion aura I hope never gets changed.
Crusader aura is and will likely always be a take it or leave it kind of aura the extra mount speed is more of a meme thing anyways. I’d like this to take the ability of the Zeal talent from Retribution but I know that’s a pipe dream.

Holy Power:
I like holy power being brought back to holy and prot specs. I now have something to build and spend rather than just spam buttons on prot and mana management on holy. I’m just hoping that with the added resource management the gcd will take a back seat on this class since a slow gcd makes ret feel unplayable at times.
All specs having access to holy power manipulation abilities is great, now don’t biff it by placing them all in the same talent row. Nothing feels worse than choosing between favorites.

Holy:
Glimmer of Light being brought in to be a talent speaks to how useful it was as an azerite trait. Glad to see it brought in. Though having it compete with Bestow faith is a bit rough. Since most holy paladins are already familiar with using Bestow faith they’ll likely still choose it over glimmer of light anyways. I’d rather see it moved into the old aura row where it can compete with aura mastery, giving you glimmer of light where you can get consistent improved healing or aura mastery which provides greatly improved healing or buffs but only for a short period of time.

Protection:
Shining light passive is huge with the addition of Word of Glory now being baseline. Protection paladins can now assist healers in group sustain after large AOE damage or can at least cover down on someone standing in bad because we all know that one person who focuses dps over mechanics lol.

Retribution:
Wake of ashes being a baseline ret ability now is great, speaks to how good of an ability it is since it has been moved from Artifact ability to talent to baseline spec ability.
Empyrean power being moved into the talent tree is also great and will definitely up the value of retributions in mythic+.

Why is Faerie Fire not in the base Druid kit? The og Faerie Fire. Was such an iconic Druid ability.

C’mon Blizzard

Deep Wounds was always passive though and back in the day you had to put points into the tree to get it.
