Newcomer here

Weak Auras is one which I would never touch, simply because it was the cause of a lot of people losing a lot of gold due to an exploit.

Oh, yeah… I refuse to even use it.

I’m happy being more casual now that I’m much older. I don’t want to play this as a numbers game.

I just want to play the game.

I don’t even use the damage meter addons. I just do my rotations and it works out fine for the content that I do.

doesnt the game already have enough qol features? i started in legion with no addons at all and it was all fine i had never played an mmorpg before

it does.
people are just used to their addons though.

eg: there are people who are still running bartender, even after the changes with the stock UI.
once i was familiar with all of the new UI changes, i didn’t see the point to using Bartender anymore, and binned it.

fewer addons is ALWAYS a good thing.
less stuff to cause conflict or file corruption is a good thing.

Oops i ment to reply to the other guy they said new players need addons, i agree with u especially cause updating addons can be a pain without things like curse forge especially, and can overall make things more complicated

I only have one tip for you. Perhaps the most important of all.

Gnomes are for cuddling, not punting.

Most of the good advice has already been given, so I’ll just say welcome, and wish you all the best. Hope you enjoy it for many years.

Edit: Gnomes are for cuddling and punting.

Welcome to the game! I’m happy you are here. The new player guide that you were directed to should help out a lot. And hopefully you meet great people here on the forums. The experience can be a mixed bag, but I hope you continue to ask your questions!

Welcome! :bangbang::bangbang::partying_face::partying_face: Don’t let the forums steer you away.

That could explain the blue skeletal horse in your mount collection. I don’t think a Night elf can even ride that.

Excellent decision. As you can see, WoW has room for all types of folks. Settle in, buckle up, and most of all, have a good time!

Well, there’s one thing you should know… this game is on the extreme side of grindy for completionists. To get the best gear, to get all the mounts, to get all the achievements, to get the best PVP rating, you will have to devote an inhuman amount of time. Best of luck.

Play with the stock and see what you don’t like, then change it to that. I’m assuming you have a button layout already that you like so you can adjust anything to that. Warcraft was made explicitly to allow a lot of UI modification. If you can think of it, it is probably out there. Just google your idea with “warcraft.”

You can do whatever suits the situation. Generally DPS will let you kill the fastest. Tank (guardian) will let you basically never die. Resto is hard to die in elf form. If you mean WHERE should you go, anywhere that strikes you. Except Shadowlands. We don’t talk about Shadowlands.

Take your time leveling and doing your newbie mistakes. Explore. You’ve missed enough of the first tier of this expansion your time is best spent exploring so that when you finally level cap it will probably be just as all the gear we have now is getting easily replaced and you can slide right in with catch up gear.

I will admit…

Bartender4 DOES feel kinda not needed anymore as you can do a lot of it now with just messing with setting in WoW.

Welcome to WoW.

First and foremost is take your time. Understand that WoW is massive. A lot of things won’t make sense as you’re coming in late to the game and that’s okay. Focus on having fun. I recommend mostly questing. And, when you’ve hit a point that you’re bored of the current zone, change it up with random dungeon finder.

The Ui is home on a literal level. You can customize a good amount of it. Take the time to become comfortable with it. WoW is a game about time investment in a lot of ways. Become comfortable with your UI and remember that it’s meant to deliver information. If it doesn’t deliver information comfortably for you, try adjusting what you don’t like about it, or seeing if there is an addon which can help.

Shad#1132 is my battletag. If you have questions, I’m always down to try to help.

Welcome. Whew what an overload of info! Mostly good. Take your time as the game will teach you a lot just by playing it. Only advice from me is learn to move with the mouse and key bind you spells. Have fun!

Hi there and welcome!

For a while, I wouldn’t worry too much about addons. Like Nobully said, feel the game out a bit, use the stock ui which has a lot of options you can edit until you’re more comfortable.

WoW can be a lot of fun no matter what you decide you want to do. Play at your own pace and find out what’s fun to you.

There is a mixed bag of personality types in the game and on the forums. In game, just right click and ignore if they’re being too negative. Please don’t let the bad apples deter you either way. In my experience, the good outweighs the bad.

You sound like someone that doesn’t mind socializing, so finding a good guild that’s active and helpful will be a plus. You can open the guild and community finder by hitting the default “J”. Then you can search from there. Also, you can definitely ask questions in new player chat and someone should be able to help. Asking questions in General Chat ( “/1” is default), can get mixed reactions, so up to you if you want to open that can of worms!

I hope you have a lot of fun, find wonderful friends and make lasting memories!

Again, thanks for everyone that commented and shared their input. I ended up making a new character (Windwalker Monk) which I enjoy more than the Druid. I thought if I changed characters on the forums I’d still be able to see the responses I get on the Night Elf. Either or, the Monk is lvl 43 and I’m still learning quite alot. But thankfully a few people in this post have reached out and have helped me tremendously. Thank you all for the warm welcome. It definitely wasn’t what I expected.

Anyway, this is the Monk I mentioned in the above post. Nothing major but I’m learning something new each day. Thanks again everyone!

Monk is a lot of fun! But I’m biased . I recommend looking up Peak of Serenity. Their website and discord is very helpful and friendly. I really hope you enjoy the class, we’re a bit underrepresented.
