New WoW Netflix Animation Series?

I feel like emulating LoL’s decision to spend money on creating the excellent show “Arcane”… would be a good financial decision for Blizz to follow… in that it was an effective use of LoL’s advertising dollars vs. the cost of creating animations these days. It brought characters to life in cool ways, had strong female leads… very artistic and creative… good story…

And I get it… they’re gun-shy. Their last attempt was probably a financial pit they are still suffering from in various way but…

Times have changed. Creating animations is so simple these days that even a big dumb layperson like me can do it.

^AND lets be clear.

— I am not advocating copying anything “Arcane” did regarding their presentation-style. What I mean is to emulate their level of excellence and care they clearly put into the project.

— You do not need to make the animation about the main characters. You can create (1) a character that fights in the arena system, which can be realistic and somewhat brutal; (2) A group of characters tasked to clear out ‘dungeons’; (3) characters in a large military, that conduct ‘raids’ on major threats. ← and then have all these characters interact at various times as friend and/or foe, like a ‘‘game of thrones’’ style storytelling approach

— (( → EDIT ← in response to some posts… )) I am not advocating the use of AI. Blizz has the capacity to (a) hire ppl to create this all in-house; (b) in the style of ‘epic xpac intro cutscene’; (c) while utilizing their (i) massive 2D & 3D libraries; (ii) tried and tested animation and 3d model production pipeline; and (iii) detailed 3D world they have at their disposal… to reduce the cost of creating scenes and characters.

^You could have these characters dealing with the various ongoings & aftermaths of dramatic ingame events… creating a broader sense of the world at the same time. (( All the characters could be added as NPCs in the game too. ))

P.S. Just remember, ‘surviving disaster’ story plots mixed in with amazing action, humor, and great storytelling is almost never a bad way to go about it… and please remember… we arent the main characters in the game. We’re basically the side-characters doing all the hard work that they later get all the credit for (( they call us heroes and ‘champions’ to placate us ))

P.S.S. and please remember who your main audience most likely is… most of us aren’t kids anymore …and… kids like watching ‘adult’ things, its ‘cool’ …so… If you do this I’d recommend you cater to adults this time around please. You don’t have to go overboard or anything but… none of this naive, kiddy silly stuff. take us seriously, make it smart and i think you’ll find success.

P.S.S.S. this is a special note to the exec at Microsoft who has played WoW their whole life and loves anime… cmon… you know you wanna see this…

Way to just insult artists with that comment.

not an insult if its the truth. truth can hurt. AI generators make it very easy.

Not sure why this upset you

Oh hell no if you’re an AI fan

I think creating an animation and creating a high-quality, cohesive, and consistent animation are two different things.
I can make animations too, but I doubt I could think through all the details because animation is not just about pixels; it’s also about the storyline and many other aspects.
I’m sure professionals can handle this better than I can, and their work is worth more than mine.

And then you still need to make it popular because creating a series isn’t everything—you also need to make people want to watch it.

Not in the least bit the point of my post. at all. they use AI. Even blizz does i bet. can almost guarentee they used it to create some of these items we are getting all the time.

You get upset about the strangest things.

You’re talking about generative AI so again. hell no.

its good marketing. it aligns to their goals. i dunno mang… ive seen these new xpacs videos over years the same as you have…

… i know blizz has it in them to do it

I’ve never watched it. What’s it about? All I know is that it’s set in the universe of a MOBA game.

You seem to misunderstand— the series is not an advertisement for a product; the series itself is a product that requires advertising.

I dont misunderstand at all. LoL made Arcane as a way to draw in new customers. This is the goal of advert and how I am using the word.

WoW could do this too. And the production costs are low with today’s technology… Netflix would probably froth at the mouth for a WoW series and give good terms… i dunno man

Blizz should copy the Star Wars: Visions model and have a bunch of different animation studios from across the globe do shorts. Animation Studios, not AI slop.

The tensions between the poor, abused people of the Undercity/Zaun and the rich privileged elites of Piltover coming to a breaking point. The use like, maybe 8 champions from League’s 150+, as main characters.

Uhh, just watch it.

WOW couldn’t even succeed with an expansion pack yet alone a movie, what makes yu think they can do a TV show? The tv show would just be “love, friendship, and the joys of life!!!” might as well make the TV show E10 and up.

I kinda like what The Boys did awhile back with a lil animated anthology series they did. Each episode was done in the style of different cartoon styles.

mainly? Cost.

Making animation is not a costly endeavor like it used to be. Its an effective use of advertising resources imo

Arcane is Art. Like, it’s stunningly good writing and film tecnique that puts damn near anything I’ve seen in the last 40 years to shame.

As to what it’s about… There isn’t really a good way to do a one sentence synopsis about this, But overall I’d describe it as a tale of two cities, the ambitions of said cities, emergence of dangerous technology, sisters, ideals and What one incredibly gifted girl with blue hair will choose to be be at the end of the story.
