New WoW Netflix Animation Series?

bro im sry to say, but they already use AI.

The only AI Blizz talked about was stuff made with their own material to help with Diablo 4’s dungeon generation. That is a tool. Not a replacement.

100% agree.

I want them to create a WoW version of an animated series. Art, but in their own vein ya know?

This. By contracting out to different studios and giving them the opportunity to tell different stories they can show the world of Azeroth off in ways that a singular series really can’t.

never said they didn’t lol im just saying we dont WANT a whole WOW series thats purely AI

You mean the live action film that cost them money? Film needed to earn $450M to break even and ended up losing close to $40M in the end. As long as it does not cost us content… AND… most importantly

the characters look like the in-game cinematic versions to make them easily recognizable

then I could support this idea.

I dont either. Im assuming they make like they make the cutscenes for the new xpacs. and i assume theyd do it inhouse. and id assume theyd put their own cool spin on it.

Why are you hung up on AI? They use it to generate art and inspiration for art. it happens. shrug?

Didn’t you title this thread “Netflix Animation Series”? They are not on that level of quality, certainly not for an entire series.

Animation style. Calling it a “Cartoon” implies it’s for kids. Like the Y7 and younger audience. WoW is T rated and should keep that rating in it’s show.

Aside, you’re looking a lot hotter since I last saw you.

yeah the idea of using AI for anything is cringe

Because the game as we know it has a feel to it. If they want to use AI, it needs to be a separate film the way the other one was. However, I have seen some incredible AI renderings in wow lately that would certainly change my opinion too…

I feel ya.

my only argument is that making an animation is much more cost effective these days. They have x-amount of advertising dollars each year. I feel dropping a bombshell animation on Netflix would be an exceedingly effective use of their advertising budget, as Netflix provides (a) a concentrated market and (b) access to a younger audience, drawn in by an animation.

Making it for adults for be important. Maybe I’m biased bc im old now but… i feel we are an older game in general.

^THATS who they should focus on. Us. adults. we deserve it, we pay their salaries !!! =)

Meanwhile my Mom took me to see the South Park movie when it was in theaters XD

That was wholesome tho. Back when I was a kid I struggled sleeping. So I’d sneak over to Mom’s room and by that time, South Park would be on so we’d watch it. It was fun and she knew some jokes would fly right over my head. ( and oh boy did they lol )

I was 10, in 1984, when I saw Beverly Hills Cop in theaters on opening day… and I turned out fine

I would posit that any series adaptation should build on and not contradict the lore of the setting; the film took extensive rewrites that fundamentally contradicted the game.

AI is a blight for any industry that relies on creativity; Every single time I’ve seen people try and show off what it can do outside of the most limited circumstances (IE abstract art or simple image generation) it consistently turns into a horror show with how it doesn’t know how to put objects in people’s hands (when it can even manage hands at all) or screws up their eyes or people in the background just have their faces melt off.

On top of that AI art only gets worse with time due to what I’ll describe as the “human centipede effect” wherein the AI will reference preceding examples of AI art and as a result it just keeps feeding into itself and producing worse and worse art.

The worst part of this though ~and the reason hollywood had to deal with a major strike over it~ is that it has the appeal of being cheaper to do then hiring an actual writer or animator or anyone else and thus leads to the death of quality content.
