Unlike New World, the developers here had a vision, and they had a game they take inspiration from - which is Archeage if I remember correctly.
The biggest problem is, that unlike Amazon, they are not bound by some investors demanding payback for their investment. But Ashes of Creation is atleast moving forward.
Star Citizen suffers a similar problem. It is not beholden to big investors, and thus they take their sweet time with the game. Star Citizen, luckily, is actually also moving forward how that there is no more feature creep.
Potentially.
At this point you can actually fly a couple of Ships, there are a couple of planets with cities that can be landed out. There are multiple, repeatedly quests, and a few indepth quests.
Trading, bounty hunting, delivery-boy quests, piracy, and the occasional big time event.
It is hard to say whether it is a scam, or if have just been or is, totally incompetent management.
I rather like the frontier vibe people have said the game appears to promote. I would quite like to play as something akin to a conquistador liberating the hapless natives from their brutal overlords with the fiery hand of justice and peace.
It has a good feel for the first week or two but afterward, it’s boring. No variation in art theme. Not enough stories or main characters. No mounts and you can’t swim. Combat is like 3 buttons? It has potential but so far it’s not even fit for an alpha, maybe proof of concept but nothing more.
It looks ok doesn’t scratch the RPG itch I have but I will try it like I do most new MMOs, I am looking forward to middle earth online and pray its better than the Lord of the rings online was.
I got to level 14 and am really enjoying the crafting, the visuals, and the combat system.
It is really cool seeing so many people out in the open world!
I do hope they will work on combat (staggering was apparently changed/nerfed since alpha) and add more abilities… as cool as aiming/no tab targeting is… I think we need a minimum of 8-10 skills per weapon/tree. 3 is just so… limiting
Yeah that is horrible. I am still waiting for them to shut down the ship selling market on their website and make in game purchasing the only viable way. Some of the ships are actually purchaseable with in game currency right now.
There is still a governour system, and PvP where factions actually take land from each other. It is just more themeparked rather than loosely sandboxed.
You should probably try and watch some videos of it. I do not follow New World much myself, I just hear stuff here and there.
