New UI doomers

I didn’t use addons and the new UI is giving me eye strain.

It’s hot garbage

Portrait, party frame, target, target of target, and focus all go in pretty much the same spot. If you dont like the position of bar 3, you can make it 2 rows with 6 buttons and place it to the right of bar 1 and bar 2.

Unless you’re trying to somehow say that the bags and micro menu being attached to the blizzard art bar somehow improves your raid or arena or dungeon performance, I have no idea what your argument is.

The new UI isn’t just bad, it’s awful

And the screen “all of a sudden” feels cramped/less room to work with (???)

Hopefully they roll out a “classic UI” toggle button soon so our screen can look normal again

I’d be all for praising the new UI if it didn’t feel half finished. It is lacking so so so many basic customization options, it’s honestly kind of insulting to be given this when some bloke in their room can make a better UI addon over the weekend. I was looking forward to maybe ditching elvui and a couple other addons, accepting that I would lose a bit of QOL. However, the half finished UI blizzard gave us doesn’t even cover the bare bones basics that a “customizable” UI should have.

So while the idea of updating the UI and offering customization is awesome. The way blizzard has implemented it so far is honestly laughable.

I think the big problem people are having with the new UI isn’t so much the set up as it’s hitting a glass ceiling with things that should have been ironed out in the Alpha, Beta and Ptr. That somehow the over-size minimap made it through, the unadjustable menu buttons in the corner made it through, the inability to move the bags made it through, the fact that your pet’s health bar is locked to your health bar made it through.

And this isn’t even accounting for the bugs like people’s UI settings resetting when they log or zone. I haven’t had this since the first few hours I was on the other night. I don’t know if this affected anything but when I set up my standard UI I had to shut off the ‘Snap’ mode because it was too frustrating trying to move stuff around and have it stay where I wanted it.

Its literally not about learning it is about familiarity. Some people liked the old UI, some do not. To those who like the new UI that’s good. They should get what they want. That does not mean this should come at the expense of those who liked what they had before. The option to just add the old UI is a very simple fix to this problem.

I would advise you to take your own advice. People will not always agree with you on things. Unless someone is asking for something immoral or unethical they have the right to voice their complaints.

there’s no truth to this. they wouldn’t need to maintain the old UI. they just needed to give us a Classic layout in the new UI that approximated the old UI.

Right now the HUD UI is in its infancy stage in due time it’s gonna mature.

You shouldn’t have to watch videos on YouTube to learn a UI. This game has always required you to look stuff up online. Blizz never learns.

I didn’t need to watch a video. I knew how it worked from the start.

The UI’s infancy were the first few days on the Alpha. It’s had months to mature beyond where it is today.

I neither like, nor dislike the new UI. It is what it is. It serves it purpose. I am surprised that they didn’t have a legacy UI option though.

except it is a half baked version of mods that do it much better. aka they ripped off modders and did it badly with a version that most mods would have been discarded had they released it on curse etc… this is at best an alpha product from a company that gets paid to do what freeware does better…

I agree. Mods are such a pain and Blizzard needs to keep adding popular mods into the game on their own. Hopefully we will never have to deal with mods again at some point.

To be fair.

This has been on the ptr for a while now.

Always seems pretty crazy to me that folks don’t check out a feature like this ahead of time.

The new ui has been a major feature since the expansion reveal. Shouldn’t be a surprise it’s coming and everyone had the opportunity to play with it prior to release to figure out how to tweak it and make it work.

Reminds me of the time I was a freelance chef, I would talk to idiot customers like a caveman.

Sad thing is it worked 9 times out of 10.

Yeah, I was nervous at first because of what everyone was saying but all you have to do is hit the classic setup option. They even show you how to in the tutorial. Took all of 5 minutes to put everything back as it was, it just looks like a sleek design of the old setup now.
