New to retail - what realm should i go?

I just bought dragonflight and I have a 50 token and a 60 token ( I guess I got a free 50 from shadowlands flop), I was wondering do I need to be on the same side/realm to join a guild to do raiding? If so, what would be my best bet to get back into the game?

For refresher, i made a human hunter and a troll druid. Both are fun to play, I noticed starfall isnt nearly as powerful as it is in WotLK and on both sides areas that I assumed to be lower level are all the similar level to my characters, so WoW now has progressive mob leveling to your level?

Anyways, I’m based in central time zone and would enjoy playing between 8pm central to maybe 10pm on weekdays and possibly thru out the day/nights on weekends. I would love to join a raiding guild or one that does dungeon runs

Unless you’re considering doing mythic raiding, it really doesn’t matter what realm you go on these days.

A lot of the AH is global.
Dungeon Finder / LFR is global.
Group finder (M+, raiding, Arena, etc.) is now global.
PVP is global.
The open world is cross realm.

With that said, Area 52 has been great for me as Horde.

Go to Google and search “WoW Central time zone servers” pick one from the list that is high pop, and have fun.

Tichondrius is a good server that is well populated. Like many servers the Alliance is outnumbered and could use more. Chats are active, the AH is active and no matter where I go, I see signs of life.

I’m glad I came back to it. Although not too thrilled it’s Alliance lol

Area 52 for horde and stormrage for alliance. they are both mega-servers and one sided faction-wise. They give you a lot of options when guild hunting.

If you are looking for a balanced server, thats a little harder to find.

Go to a high populated realm, do NOT go to medium or low and definitely not recommended. Full is also good, but be prepared to have log in issues from time to time. There’s still plenty of server side differences that make populated servers better for the average player.

I’m in the central time zone server cluster and you’re welcome to come to the Burning Legion server. If you go alliance you’re more than welcome to join our guild! We have several raid groups and lots of members who like to do M+

except Quelthalas…screw those people. :rage:

Aye, I play Stormrage and I’m in Central Time. It’s always poppin’.

I’m on Stormrage too, ally is poppin, but I don’t believe horde really exist on the server.

Go to Alexstrasza . . . they need people badly

With sharding, connected realms and cross server guilds/groups does it even matter anymore?

doesnt it matter if i want to join a guild to do 'guild events/achievements" or are guild achievements things of the past? or can i join a guild from server x and someone else is on server y?

if i use my 50 or 60 level up token, does it come with bags/gold? Also if i used it on a druid, would i get 4 sets of gears for the 4 types it can be? or do you get limited to 1 set of gears?

not sure, id like to know too!

You can raid cross faction, and join communities cross faction. Guilds are same faction/server but you don’t necessarily need to be in a guild to raid at all. We have a community, same name as my guild, if you’re interested in some raiding and dont want to commit to a guild. Chill group, will explain the mechanics for the fights if you need.

I’d avoid low populated servers. The auction houses are crap. I don’t get why the AH isn’t fully region wide yet.

Also, if you are a crafter, you will never see a work order on a low pop server.

Everything else you can cross server play, but those 2 things I listed really suck.

Don’t do it. Just quit I lasted as long as I could this xpac.

thrall is pretty good on the horde side

Highly recommend Moonguard Alliance, and keep war mode on. I need more victims, I mean red named best friends!
