This topic always makes the contrarians of this board really easy to spot.
Actually yes.
Itâs a base class in the World of Warcraft RPG game along with multiple prestige classes to specialize into and a fully fleshed out suite of abilities by some small indie company named Blizzard Entertainment.
Tinker Prestige classes include
-Bombardier
-Steamwarrior
-Engineer
-Technomage
-Sapper
And of course every prestige class has their own abilities and skills to use as well.
So, in fact, there is actually a very very good idea as to what a tinker would be.
While itâs not a word that originated from Blizzard Iâm a huge fan of âTechnicianâ
Itâs short, sweet, and gets the point across.
Sapper could easily be the name for the dps spec.
Also. Their Class color should be a Nice deep Grey.
Like the Grey on âjunkâ items
No it wouldnât. It would steal from other classes+steal from engineeering.
I agree.
If people would make one Tinker thread, stick to that or make one new one every few months or so⌠Iâd be like, âeh.â But this obnoxiousness just makes me say, âno, go away.â
Honestly? No. These are worse.
I mean, if the topic doesnât interest you, you could always just opt to ignore it.
New threads have a purpose for starting discussion anew and allowing others to more easily hop in without having to read through thousands of posts to see what may have been brought up or addressed already. Itâs also at least still relevant to the game pertaining to new / potential lore or class development unlike many many other threads.
Please, These threads are on topic, and want to see positive change come to the game.
Thatâs much better than another âIâm leavingâ or âWoW is dyingâ post.
More importantly to me, I use my Threads to bring up a different argument each time.
This one in particular is that Tinkers would fill a hole in the class roster based on fantasy.
You can play a character thatâs like thrall.
You can play a character thatâs like Valeera.
But you canât play a character thatâs like Gazlowe, despite that being the whole point of a race.
This is just Untrue. None of the classes are similar to Tinker, and the only thing Engineering might lose is some 5 minute cooldown bombs that are weaker than just white hitting an enemy.
And it would improve immersion.
What is it with contrarians and not providing reasons?
First and foremost, I donât believe that the new class would be called âTinkerâ. I think what weâre looking at is a technology base class, not a hero class. Something more along the lines of Monks instead of Demon Hunters and Death Knights.
Because of this, I see Blizzard reserving the âTinkerâ title for a specialization, and giving the class a more generalized name like Mechanic, Gadgeteer, Mekkgineer, Steam Warrior, or Technician.
I also see them utilizing a more broad swath of Azerothian technology. I see a class that isnât only using Goblin and Gnome tech, but Draenei/Naaru, Nightborne, Forsaken, and Dwarven technology as well. It sort of helps that some of the tech can bleed together, like Deth Laser from Goblins, Buster Cannon from Gnomes, and Prometheus Rays from Draenei. Because of this, I could see this class being open for a decent amount of races, not just Goblins and Gnomes.
I definitely see them utilizing a true hybrid (DPS/Heal/Tank), and I agree with the Tank spec consisting of mech piloting. The wild cards are the healing and DPS spec. Those specs could also go the mech route, but they could also be something more akin to the WC3/HotS heroes with the claw packs, or even something like FF14âs Mechanic with guns, bombs, and summonable bots with a mech being a cooldown for both specs.
Anyway, thatâs the way I see it.
Honestly, a tinker class would be great, then I could mine the salt produced by the people who are really offended by the notion of a tinker class.
Well, âHero Classâ is a pointless name nowadays.
I just imagine Blizz would call the class âTinkerâ based on WC3 and nothing else. Though personally Iâm a big fan on the name âTechnicianâ it just sounds better.
I imagine that Ranged DPS, Ranged Healer, Melee Tank is the only way to go about it.
All 3 specs could use intellect and equip guns, but the Tank Spec should hop in a Shredder, just like Gazlowe on Island expeditions. It doesnât need to be huge or anything.
Of course, Hopping in the Mech would give you Melee attacks and abilities, but youâd still have a gun equipped. Like a Druid Shape shift.
I specifically want the Healer to feel like Ana from Overwatch.
Shoot allies for health, throw healing grenades, ETC.
The only argument I see people come up with is that âThey donât want it, because itâs not coolâ
I donât see them using Shredders either. I think Blizzard is going to design a new mech specifically for the class. Now, there may be some faction differences, but like the Demon Hunter metamorphosis models, I believe that we can look forward to some new, original mech designs with this class.
As for weaponry, it would be interesting to see the ranged DPS spec using guns or rifles. Demon Hunters get exclusive sword types, I donât see why the technology class couldnât get exclusive gun types, like Hand guns. They would be guns that run on intellect instead of agility. Probably like Ray or laser guns.
