I dont understand anybody that wants to play a druid a class built around shapeshifting that doesnt want to shapeshift. Forms\stances are some of my favorite game designs. I love the theme of swapping into bear and popping defensives when getting attacked or swapping into cheetah during combat to kite etc.
Because that is all rp garbo. I donât play for that, i play to raid and m+. I like smooth rotations, i like getting into my shape and playing THAT shape.
If i spec into kitteh, i want to play as a kitteh. If i spec boomie, or bear, or tree, same thing. When you shift out of that shape, you are essentially taking yourself out of what makes that spec great.
Another aspect to it is that its clunky, it takes valuable time to shift in and out of your shape. While dps downtime might mean nothing to you, i can assure you it means a heck of alot to those who raid and m+, and its bad. Real bad.
I can see if i had to shift out of a specific spec for some rare circumstance, however, doing it consistently is just a headache waiting to happen.
Yea its not because of the RP. Its kind of like i played warrior and when they removed stances to swapped to druid. I just like the different forms and the little bit extra involved.
In my opinion if i wanted to play a feral druid but didnt want to swap forms i would play a rogue. I dont understand why somebody would play a feral if they dont like the class which is form swapping.
It would be like wanting to play a warlock but you dont want to use the pets. You might as well play a shadowpriest or mage.
Thatâs completely inaccurate. 1 aspect of a spec doesnât make a spec.
you have this idea that a spec is only a spec when you can do something that should only rarely be done. if your swapping stances, forms, whatever, every time you do, your DPS goes down. your hps goes down, your survivability goes down.
thatâs like saying you cant play hunter bc you donât use a pet even tho mm exclusively doesnât. or warlocks, the only spec that has to is demo, the other two specs can exclusively sacrifice their pets 4 a buff. in fact, demo does just that with imps. even more so, frost mages have a choice to use a pet or not.
so that perspective is completely innacurate.
saying you dont like to swap forms on a druid is like saying you dont want to use a pet on a demo warlock.
All druid specs with the exception of guardian revolve around swapping forms in combat. More on Resto and less on feral but in PVP you are swapping forms every 5 seconds in combat.
only 25% of the player base pvps. in fact, the only time in pve that you shift is for weaving and that crap is garbo. even more so, the very unliked class tree is based on shifting and mostly everyone that has provided feedback states they need to step away from it. my builds donât take furor or hotw bc why I would I take such costly talents when they should never be used? id rather take survivability talents in the first two tiers. those mean more.
You do this all the time in PvP. Even in PvE you still swap to Bear sometimes to take a big hit of damage.
Itâs not a matter that we donât want to do it, itâs that we donât have any tools in the kit which actually support the notion of shapeshifting universally.
When a Feral or Balance druid does this, they sacrifice damage globals in most cases but in a Raid/M+/PvP, this is pretty commonplace.
When a Resto druid does this, well itâs generally part of their playstyle anyway, keep up hots, keep up dots, and melee while there is no need to actively heal. this typically doesnât result in deaths and any rdruid worth salt does this well.
And then you have Guardian druid. You wonât find any Guardian druid in non-trivial content who will risk shifting out of form in melee. Itâs too risky, the reward is not worth the risk, and you put your entire group in jeopardy. You can kite and get out of melee, but you lose all defenses when doing so. Sure this playstyle applied in Raid and PvP but this just doesnât align at all when it comes to 5-man content, and thatâs the problem as I see it.
Give bear something that allows them to retain their toolkit use while they shift for a brief period of time, and then we can discuss the fantasy of shapeshifting being an actual thing, but you donât see warriors stand stancing to just use berserker rage like back and Vanilla and thereâs a reason for that. What youâre advocating for was ditched for the same reasons why itâs a problem for Guardian today.
its not worth having both furor and hotw at end talents in the class tree
Mark becoming vers makes it line up more with its original design, damage reduction for all types(not just magic) and a flat stat increase.
But put the speed back please, the movement buff was flavorful and tertiary stats dont get enough interactions.
Did you remove it because evokers cooldown got buffed and is all about movement speed too avoid utility overlap?
I ⊠never said it was? Furor is awful.
You didnt. I was pointing it out. Pretty much everyone agrees furor is bad.
nurturing instinct and natural recovery and lycaraâs teachings⊠feel like talent bloat
and they arenât very fun or interesting since they are completely passive and donât change your abilities or playstyle at all
Did anyone else notice the general druid tree looks different on this official blizzard post? Canât tell if itâs an old or upcoming version but I assume itâs old because itâs still littered with 3-point nodes. Curious if anyone might have insight on that.
Thatâs an image from before talent trees were even released so 5+ months old.
Anyone know when the new Boomkin talent tree will be live on PTR? Excited to test them out.
Saw on the beta forum that itâs live there and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
what black hole did you pull the statistic 25% of all world of warcraft players pvp out of, holinka said back in WOD there was just as much and sometimes more people queueing for PVP queueable content as people queueing for PVE content so i think your Stat is a load
When asked if a player is primarily a pve or pvp player, roughly 75% stated that they were primarily pve players.
That doesnt mean pve players are not queing for pvp on their offtime, it just means if they have to choose between pve and pvp, most choose pve.
The new Balance tree looks really good! I think Balance is still suffering somewhat from the class trees, but the spec tree is great. A few minor issues:
This is just readability, but Stellar Inspiration should be more clear if itâs casting Starfall or each tick of damage that has the proc chance.
Syzygy feels quite weak/underwhelming, but only because itâs a choice between Arcanic Pulsar. I think decoupling them would help a lot.
Itâs wonderful to see more support for Stellar Flare, maybe itâll be useful for once!
I think that Dream Denizen shouldnât be locked behind Circle of Life and Death, though thatâs somewhat personal preference since I donât like having to refresh dots more often.
Iâm also unsure if Furor is bugged or if this is intended, but if you shift out of Moonkin form to get the buff, then shift back into it you regain the buff despite having been in Moonkin form within the last 15 seconds.
A small note for the class tree update: It is very difficult for Resto to be able to take âProtector of the Packâ and get the healing talents needed (WG/Improved Rejuv). You really give up quite a bit in utility. I donât see how any Balance or Resto Druid would take this talent unless the pathing became better.
