How about make it do bleed damage instead? That way it will scale.
As someone who is strongly inclined to favour changes that benefit class/ specialization fantasy.
Making Insect Swarm anything but Nature dmg or Poison debuff is a hard sell.
I would hold firm on it being Nature to prevent it from being too over powered.
Over powered things just get nerfed or taken away any way, and thats no fun.
For pvp I tihnk an ability that far down in the talent tree shouldnt be dispellable (in pvp), so bleed works better. And abilities that doesnt scale tend to be extremely badly tunedā¦one way or the other.
Well if thats the issue there are ways of making spells undisspellable besides category.
Still dont want it to be over powered, its about competitive balance as opposed to desire to wanting your class to be the strongest at something.
Unbelievably dumb, the DOT effect is minor compared to the damage amp. Thatās what Swarm is for largely. Scaling is not an issue at all.
Making a Swarm of insects do bleed damage is also dumb especially considering its not exclusively a Feral ability. Plus it has a healing component.
Only thing DUMB here you is you not being able to communicate like an adult and have to insult because you dont agree.
Oh boyā¦. The irony is blinding!!!
He didnāt insult you. He stuck to the topic and explained in detail why it was a dumb idea.
Only person acting childish here is a you.
The trees dont seem to have anything pre wod in them which feels pretty limiting. Even if the spells where changed to be upgraded to modern mechanic standards it be nice to have their names back.
Thorns-moved back to the neutral tree on the feral guardian side. Keep it a short duration buff with an enemy movement or attack speed slow and damageon hit. Gives that half of the tree more desirable utility which it really lacks compared to the resto/balance side.
Hurricane - changed from a channel to a ground targetable instant on an area, make useable in all forms. Old cooldown and slows attached maybe where vortex or typhoon is now and move those closer to the middle. Mostly for utility but can fill the aoe gaps in some rotations.
Insect swarm(s) - either as the new default ability (doing small damage, increasing other dot damage) with adaptive being an upgrade that makes it jump and split or it being current adaptives upgrade talent that makes it split like the legendary does currently.
The first seems more thematic and having it be nature damage by default upgraded into shadow damage makes a little more sense and keeps the anti-lockout utility.
Faerie fire - hunters mark SL beta showed people dont like this kind of maintenance buff that makes target switches a hassle for not alot of gain. Itād need a rework, not to be its own spell. Possibly a passive tied to moonfire; moonbeams lure them in (they looked like moths) impairing the target in some way, moonfire is lacking any neutral tree support even though its one of like 6 spells all 4 specs have, theres some in the individual trees but nothing all 4 specs can share.
Leader if the pack - an auto spec learn, like how resto automatically gets magic cleanse, for guardian and feral that gives a leech buff when a player crits while mark is active. A more modern take on the old improved leader talent.
(i feel vers would be more appropriate for mark and feral/guardian get their own crit buff thats just old leader but if we all get crit itd be nice if they could get improvements)
Donāt mind Tical, his middle name is toxic.
Sathyr.
Dont be like that.
Youre better than that.
Cheesey is right. That idea was dumb.
silvertramp has made it their career complaining about all things druid, no matter the topic. Thats toxic, imo. Dude is never happy.
I knowā¦all he does is trashtalk and troll all day long in every single thread he intrudes on.
Youre just mad because you made an entire qq post about ferals regrowth healing and I crushed your pitty party with logs and facts.
Youre wrong about everything and your ideas are bad.
Stay salty!
Iāve looked at all trees for each druid spec and my opinion as a Balance Druid it looks like we are getting most of the utility including mark of the wild. Hopefully Feral will bring something unique to the team and not get benched wouldnāt mind seeing cats in raids again.
Iām surprised adaptive swarm and convoke spirits made it into the druid trees.
I understand they are popular and useful abilities. Thematically they dont really fit the class fantasy.
The legendary item buffs becoming talents is good, and generally makes sense.
Iām surprised they included these Shadowlands abilities but ignored all the covenant soulbinds.
I really liked having redistribution of some over healing. This came in the form of the night fae soulbind Empowered Chrysalis.
I also used to like Living Seed in Wotlk. Unfortunately it wasnt very effective. So id like to see it repurposed with an over healing effect much like if not exactly like empowered chrysalis
Swarm and convoke absolutely make sense with class fantasy.
Adaptive swarm is just a new version of insect swarm and is the decay/rot end of the circle of life.
Convoke is a bunch of wisps chanelleing energy through your body.
It 100% works. Also, these are actually good druid abilities and have the potential to mesh with two different playstyles and output profiles. I donāt praise blizzard often, but this is actually good design.
The only thing about the druid tree I am worried about is the annoyance of speccing for soothe/dispel depending on the dungeon.
My only problem with the feral tree is that, after sickle goes away, we are back to having no meaningful aoe cooldown.
i love this post so much, i hope elune blesses dwarves with druids soon
Adaptive Swarm.
Necrotic and plague looking.
Looks like blight and carion.
Deals shadow damage, which druids never have.
Its literally more in line with death knights class fantasy than druids.
Insect Swarm is more about insects that bolster life pollunators etc.
Convoke Spirits
Convoking with spirits or channeling ancestors is the class fantasy of shamans who call upon those kinds of powers to help heal along side the elements.
Now that another healer has had their talent tree come out can resto get one or 2 damage related talents in our tree. Disc make sense but even holy is getting a few focused on holy fire, nova and smite.
Something really simple, like rejuv ticks increasing moonfire damage or old dream of cenarius increasing wrath damage, or even the opposite where damage increases healing so we can justify focusing on it more; sunfire increasing wildgrowth, shapeshift attacks extending regrowths anything to give us some damage in the resto specific tree.
New Convoke looks to be really limited with what damage spells it does now and Adaptive without spread jumps or conduit is pretty much just a single target heal enhancer with no way to control it after application.
Even just adding a dps spell to the soul of the forests would be reasonable since theres no reason not to take it at all times now.
I like the resto tree being healing specific but the general druid tree being where you pick up some hybridization and damage.
Its more fitting.
Thatd be fine if the other trees were being set like that but currently holy and disc can get an the entire shadow pet based playstyle from their neutral while also getting damage specific points in the spec specific. Resto doesnt get that option, we either take from the neutral for any hope of damage or get nothing since our own tree has nothing.
On top of that restoās shapeshift focused damage is super clunky compared to other healers who can just go straight into their rotation with no dead gcds. We should at least have the option to do damage in no-form. Especially since at some point you just wont need more healing so the thorough-put talents will be dead.
