Why? They have a book about almost every other character… good or bad.
Every other book was to introduce that character after a long hiatus. With Sylvanas… she’s just always been there. She doesn’t need her own novel.
It’s literally mental saturation at this point. Like watching the same bad movie over and over.
What gives you that impression?
Right?
Stormrage
Wolfheart
Illidan
Vol’jin
Jaina
Thrall
They have all had books…this may not even be the final Title it’s still a WiP
I’m cautiously optimistic, because I’m currently in the middle of reading the Arthas novel for the first time and, while seeing some stuff from his perspective does make him more sympathetic in a few moments, I’ve found that it mostly makes me hate him that much more when he does something evil. If we get something similar for Sylvanas, something that both shows her perspective and the potential she had while highlighting how very wrong she is and that she’s reaping the consequences of her actions, I can accept that. I’ve gotten to a point where I’m only interested in Sylvanas if she meets her end as a tragic villain who brings about her own ruin a la Macbeth. She had so much potential to be more than that, and she’s wasted it in pursuit of her own goals.
I am loaded on copium atm.
I know Golden isn’t liked very much on these forums, but I actually enjoy her writing.
I mean her general gimmick is she allowed her own pain to consume her so much that she let it turn her into a monster far greater than Undeath or Arthas ever did. But, we’ll see if Blizzard commits to that story, or if they try to wheel her back from the precipice they’ve already threw her over.
I do to, I know there was a lit of criticism of Before the Storm but I liked it.
If this is anything like War Crimes it will be good.
I’ll talk to you about this anyday.
I’m pretty sure that one way or the other Sylvanas’s story ends in SL. They won’t have time to retcon it.
OMG! I loved War Crimes. She had great character building in that book.
lol, ok. I didn’t get the same impression from the summary, to say the least. I think you’ll be allright. I’m honestly weary of this shenanigans myself.
I liked parts of it. Some of it is unbelievable to me though. The idea that there was no chain of command… and just no one was in charge of UC when she was in OG… I just smh.
On the one had we have NEEDED something to patch all the pieces together. I thought Blizzard would just do a short story but a full book will be general better(but might suck for people who wont spent for the book).
On the other hand, sigh this means 9.1 wont be the wnd of Sylvanas. Also I am abit ticked off that we need to wait nearly a year after Shadowlands to figure out what Sylvanas truly wants. I thought the devs. Said they would tell us during the first patch. Heck I would have forgiven them if we found out in 9.1.
Lastly, please do not let this be a redemption story!
I can’t believe Veresa did that.
It seems like this new book explains more about thier family dynamic, look at how the wording of the blurb suggests the windrunner family broke before she became R-G
What do you think?
Yeah, she had parameters for the storyline, but she built the characters very well.
I’m going to laugh so hard if even by the end of the book, her TRUE motives are still unknown, and Blizzard plays the “we promise we’ll tell you what she really thinks in the next cutscene!” like they’ve already lied about like 10 times in the last six months.
The Desolate Council was in charge.
They created an interim organization to govern themselves.
She was still ruler, but they dealt with the everyday running of the city and holding court…it’s not that unrealistic.
Yeah, at this point I’d find it much more satisfying if they commit to the tragedy of her descent into evil rather than try to save her in the last possible moment. I’d much rather that they hadn’t taken her down this path in the first place, but since they have, I’d rather that we see this story to its logical conclusion and embrace the dramatic potential that comes with it. She passed the point of no return long ago, it’s time for her to face the consequences of her own choices.
Well, Alleria didn’t stop being RG until she was trapped in Outland, right? And Vereesa was off living in Dalaran or wherever with Rhonin. I’m sure there’s more, but that’s gotta be a lot of it.
Yes, I know that. They took charge because no one was in charge.
My grievance is that they had to form this organization, or felt as though they had to form this organization at all. There ought to have been some existing delegated authority in Undercity already.
