New Sylvanas novel available for preorder

My favorite character is having a biography narrated by my favorite voice actor…pretty sure this is what I want! :+1:

Ill remember this when blizzard eventually kills her off and Horde players keep howling about their current characters being under developed.

I’m sure most of us will be all over the book like piranhas once it comes out anyway.
We’re like that “Boycott Modern Warfare 2” Steam group screenshot.

I will just read the excerpts.

I have a lot of other books on my reading list before I even contemplate this one.

Reading kings of the wyld now. This book is hysterical.

Whether Sylvanas dies or not won’t change how boring or milquetoast the current Horde cast is. That’s what happens when you slowly whittle away all of the interesting characters in a faction and replace them with a veritable round table of who’s who’s of who cares.

BfA was great. It was actually an above-par expansion in terms of writing. The main group that hates it are people whose only qualification for good writing is “red team win? y/n”

Really? I went from one unresolved frustration over another with Blizzard constantly promising they will make it right in just one more update

Spoilers they did not.

Now who’s the contrarian?

No it isn’t, it’s terrible. It’s worse than time traveling Orcs. We spent 6 or 7 CGI cinematics following around a depressed, suicidal Orc grandpa and 10 or 12 in-game cinematics about Jaina doing a full circle back to where she started…such a character arc for that one.

And yet your happy for them to do this with Sylvanas and destroy any notion of the original writing that made the character enjoyable.

I mean based on where they are taking the charcter they are likely to have her see the Forsaken as nothing but puppets from the beginning and probably see they’re devotion as sickening.

The problem here is that many lore and story forum posters already make that argument on a nearly daily basis. “Arrows in her quiver” etc. I don’t agree with them, but you can only fight the same repetitive fight so many times with the other side keeping their ears closed before you say “let’s roll the dices with a book and see what happens”

Nothing can be worse than where we are now on this topic. If it takes retcons to make the situation better so be it.

Frankly most WoW players do not even come to these forums or any fansite. They do not care about the lore. Sylvanas to them is just a cool character who makes a cool tatoo and a cool statue. Blizzard cares more about those players than they do the hyper aggressive “fans” we have here.

Anyone with a brain could literally pirate the book tbh.

They already refused to retcon Teldrassil and the extinction of the Night Elves though so they’re going to justify Sylvanas now while also justifying what she did to the Night Elves.

Sounds like your the one plugging your fingers into year ears and hoping they do a 180 with her character. Those Retcons are likely to double down on this direction.(especially if steve danuser had a say in the writing).

Yet they ended up killing(or locking away) almost every character they have made a statue of. Sadly this doesn’t mean the character will be saved from terrible writing.

look we only need one diligent person to buy the book

It’s only a 180 to the people who have been so blinded by their anti-Sylvanas rhetoric that they missed the forest for the tree(s) the last 3 years.

To me it will be natural character progression.

Very true, The entire synopsis will be on here for us to get a good read on the book. I know i’ve struggled to get through the last few novels because they were inherently boring so I stopped buying them.

All right buddy, sure we are the ones who are misunderstood the writing and the statements by the Authors about their intentions for Sylvanas.

I mean…yes?

The story forums have been arguing that Sylvanas is dying forever in the raid coming out in 9.1 in a month or so, meanwhile Blizzard is publishing a book that is partly history and partly contemporary with current lore…6 months from the raid releasing.

The lore fans have deluded themselves and convinced themselves of a false narrative. It’s that simple?

Even if the book turns out to be good, I still think this is true. The story needs to move on from this.

I might get the book, provided they do not butcher Sylvanas’ character entirely (in my eyes of course). But this Sylvanas-Anduin dynamic has gone on for too long, and it’s hard not to think about how much more exciting and better the story could have been.

Just because they are doing a Novel about her doesn’t mean she is making it out alive in the current state. Nor does it mean she is getting some amazing redemption story.

They aren’t reverting the direction they have been taking her character since edge of night. In fact they are likely to double down on that direction and make her come off as cartoonishly evil and ruin any previous development. They have developed her as an anatgonist for both factions, they aren’t going to rob players of the satisfaction of stopping her.
