New Specs Rather Than New Classes

Necromancy does not belong to Warlocks… it is magic dealing with death, not demons.
Deathknights are the most obvious class…
Mages get a nod too, being it’s just a school of magic.

Tinkers, well we already have mechanognomes, and engineering… gnomes, goblins, used to have branches of engineering… dwarves have been known to tinker with firearms.
I don’t think we need a class, to cover a craft.

Bard… seriously, give a combat rogue a flute, call it a day.

I would enjoy seeing some classes and crafts enriched, but really, everytime something is added, something else is forgotten. Each time something rises to the top, something sinks to the bottom.

It’s difficult wishing for things, sometimes you get your wish, to realize the mistake.

Ok, say you did add a tanking spec to Shaman… gonna need more than a shield and taunt… and some would argue for a 2 handed tank, not a sword and board… My Shammie did use a 2 hander, back when he 19 twinked… so, what’s stolen from enhance, ele, and resto, to make this tank.

Call me crazy, I see no reason why a shaman can’t do alot of what warriors, rogues, hunters etc can do… yeah, cause a tar trap would be hard to make…

Or, we can leave it alone… ask for more content, and sooner

I expect that Blizzard would do this before go through the time to develop another class. Most likely Paladin Forsaken, Dwarf Druids, or Worgen Monks.

Lmao if hunters aren’t S tier in every form of content this guy complains that they’re useless. Love it

If Blizzard doesn’t even want to add a 2-3 spec class to game, what makes you think they want to add 11-12 new specs?

Who said anything about balance? Plenty of talents are just unusable trash.

Sounds good to me, I never liked the current “shrub” over the old trees in the first place.

Blizzard promised us that every layer of talents in the new system would offer interesting selections and decisions. They NEVER delivered on that.

I’d be happier if they went more like they had vanilla, but would like to see the classes have access to all of the abilities, but talent into what style they want to work (think Kinda like champion point in eso).

Example, mage: frost bolt does not get its slow effect until you put points into it, but you have access to all mage spells to make a build that suits you.

This way, we get rid of specs and we could customize what kind of mage we want to play…

Could make lock a purely dot monster (by actually choosing to put power in its dots) or put all of its eggs into big turret casts.

I would take a system like this over borrowed power or “the system of the expansion” any day of the week…

I would settle for reforging to come back as well…

Give me a spec that turns my monk into Vegeta so I can just energy blast crap as a ranged dps.

SHUSH YOU.

It’s from the days of D&D, actually. Cloth, Leather, Mail, Plate have been staples of fantasy games for decades. They elaborate on them with things like “Chain Mail” or “Scale Mail” or have different classifications of Plate and such, but 4 armor types are pretty standard.

I don’t feel like they are, but I do feel like they neglect it far too much overall. Honestly I’d like to see two things happen with it: A Shaman Tank spec using Mail, and maybe the Tinker Class people have been throwing around the forums for a while now as Mail (and a tank!). Maybe then Blizzard would put a little more care into it.

I would prefer MORE choices, not less. Eliminating an armor type is going the wrong direction (and you’re not the first person to suggest it either).

I think people would rather see this sort of thing given to Warriors and Paladins get some sort of casting DPS in addition to the melee DPS of Retribution.

I’d actually be ok with this. Might make it like a mini version of the Legion Class Halls.

THey could so do that as a way to get rid of the Legion on system we have been given .

Give us a couple of abilities each expansion like we got with the covenants and at the end of the expansion put them in the slots of a couple of old abilities that don’t get used and repeat with the next expansion over a few xpacs the old unused ones will be replaced .

I would rather have something like that happen the the repeated passive talent tree systems that get constantly renamed and reshaped to fit the xpac they are in .

We’re wanting 5G tech and Blizz is using

tech

Or should I say Tac

I’d love it if they could add fourthspec-for-all. Demon Hunters and Death Knights could get ranged caster specs. Rogues and Warriors could get ranged weapon specs. Mages could tap into electricity, shaman could be tanks, the list goes on. I’d love it if paladins got a hybrid ranged spells/ranged weapons spec! New, fun abilities would get added for everyone—without spellbar bloat becoming an issue.

Unfortunately, creating fourthspecs for everyone would be a lot of work. Probably more work than Blizzard would be willing, or even able, to put into an expansion.

And to be honest, Blizzard’s class design philosophies aren’t as fun as they were during MoP—and even then, they had their problems, even if they’re not as bad as they are today. If Blizzard didn’t change their class design philosophies, it could ruin the new specs, or even the existing specs—existing specs would inevitably need to be rethought if they were going to add fourthspec-for-all.

Don’t get me wrong: if they could do it, and if Blizzard actually changed their design philosophies to enable a lot more fun than the game currently has, then fourthspec-for-all would be nothing short of amazing! I just don’t think it’ll happen.

Spellbreaker tank spec for mage from WC3 yes! I want to don a big freaking shield in one hand and dual blade sword in the other. It’s not that I don’t want to tank or heal but my class can’t do either and I can’t bring myself to main another class since I’m attached to this one and been playing it for so long.

Name open for discussion. But yes, all for it!

A caster DPS spec for paladins isn’t a bad idea, but I feel like priests would be more likely to get a holy caster DPS spec.

Maybe, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a large number of people who want a sword and shield DPS spec to replace Gladiator Stance from WoD.

instead of adding new specs, how about fixing the old ones and make existing classes better and more fun to play?

Alternatively, they could give a bow spec to Rogue. I’ve seen people talk about how Rogue needs a 4th ranged spec of some sort. Bows, Shuriken, Thrown Knives, that sort of thing.

Why not both? Bows are severely under used in WoW. Making a paladin and a rogue bow spec feel distinct shouldn’t be too hard.
