New SL customization gonna drive home what a rush-job Nightborne were

Honestly, that’s how Mag’har and Kul’tiran should’ve been as well. Just do think like the night warrior, were it unlocks a couple new classes (sham/druid for humans) and the new model options, under the same race, and sure give them a mount for it too.

But they didn’t come to the idea of multiple tribes/clans in a race until Mag’har, and they didn’t want an uneven # of ARs on the factions.

Personally I don’t mind LF being it’s own race, they just deserved better, and I don’t mind VE being a BE recolor because thats what ppl wanted really, 2 hairs on each gender and the beards sold me as being cool enough for them. (I’d like a HE skin, but meh, not a deal breaker).

I think the REAL reason the NB are soo bad. Is because all of their NPC were built on Static models with clothes already on them. Going into BfA they said several races will now have PC race customizations due to how many more options they can do for NPCs and if they end up playable it will be an easy adjustment.

Like, they basically had to build NB PCs from the ground up. But at this point they’d already promised and planned on so many ARs. So they took the NE skeleton and modified it a bit, while trying to make it similar to the NPC version, without making new animations.

Like as much as I love my Void Elves, and the Argussian Reach stuff made the most sense for them. I think it would’ve been better had BFA pre-patch only had LF & NB. So they could’ve put more time into them all. Then they could’ve had Void Elves get a more flushed out story through the War Campaign when they were introduced potentially?

But honestly imo only 3 ARs really shine as having a lot of work. Zandalari, Kul Tiran, and Vulpera. All of which were talked about at Blizzcon and the team clearly gave them a lot of attention.

Edit:

This is the first semi-public Alpha, they surely all have more options. They haven’t even found the Asian Human face in the build yet, or any of the new hairs that we saw at Blizcon minus some Forsaken female hairs. Worry not, all Core races will be likely getting a couple new hairs as well that we just have to wait to mine/see.

I’m not as sure if ARs would get anything. This xpac seems more focused on Core races, potentially new ARs, and hopefully some more class/race combos. I’m not saying more options for current ARs is out. I’m just not gonna get my excitement up for it.

Showing how inept or misusing characters with bad narratives is kinda like a Rian Johnson star wars movie… sure its star wars but its bad and no one involved really enjoys it. In much the same way this was an xpac about developing the horde but not the true horde the orcish horde… we didn’t reconcile the different races back to that core theme, we didn’t really get any cultural or meaningful conclusions like evaluating the long held system of honour… the term is just throw around for fan service without really showing what it means.

The races of Azeroth are Intesresting because of their differing beliefs and values… the horde have consistently lost all their strong leaders to the point we don’t really have any left… Saurfang, Nazgrim, Garrosh, Garad, Grom, Vol’jin, Rhastakhan.

We have Drek’thar, Nazgrim and maybe Mankrik … basically the horde love a fight when its honourable, we just don’t have any honourable leaders left… its too much about winning not enough about fighting the good fight, thats whats been lost from modern wow.

I never said it was the best horde wxpansion but it was most certinly a horde expansion. Anyway in terms of story it wasn’t that bad for you. Yes, it had its low points and yes you did lose Saurfang, but that said Saurfang’s story was at a conclusion, he was looking for death for years, and he finally went out in a way that gave him honour and a legacy. I’d much rather have had him live as I liked the big green GILF but as far as deaths go it was pretty fitting.

Also getting rid of Sylvanas and Nathanos is probably one of the most posative steps for the Horde we’ve had in years, lets face it she was getting real cringy and earning a lot of hate within her own faction.

Saurfang I’l agree was a big loss, but you got Thrall back in exchange.
Vol’jin is still sort of around, and loos set up to be getting reborn in Shadow Lands.
And Rhastakhan was never Horde to begin with, infact it was his death that pushed Talanji to join the horde, and Talanji is a good new addition to the Horde, I really like her and look foward to seeing more from her.

And its not like the Alliance haven’t lost faction leaders and generals before either.

Varian, Staghelm, Tirion, Bolvar, Summermoon, Madraad (who was my favorite Draenei since they were added) to name a few.

The problem with the horde isn’t so much losing characters its that you have several good ones who simply arn’t getting any development and making hem fall off the radar.

Its subjective sure, I just see it as he betrayed everything he stood for by starting a war that made no sense from its onset, then he threw a tantrum and refused to do ANYTHING for the entire xpac before finally doing something at the end. It didnt feel “orc like” for him to start a war the aim of avoiding a bigger one.
Historically speaking think of a savage island tribe, or the ancient spartans. War was a way of life for them and they practiced it in a very specific and disciplined manner, they had honour and traditions. Thats what I projected onto the horde and how I believe Metzen wrote them.

The way BFA unfolded didn’t feel like the warcraft I grew up with… it was just a bad narrative with spots of glory here and there.

Again its subjective, I like Lilian Voss, dislike Talanji… Talanji is boring… Talanji being tethered to Bwonsamdi is very interesting dynamic though, I hope they go all Death note style with it. With ole Bwon being the devil on her shoulder.

I don’t think Thrall will do much unless they recast his voice actor.

Nightborne are the second best Horde race behind Forsaken for me. Shame what happened.

I really wished they made them more posh than they turned out.

The problem is they kill important characters without setting anybody up to fill the void. They’re starting to rectify it since they’re running out of lore characters, which is nice, but we’ve lost so many important people, both side, with hardly any setup. Mostly cause this is the first expansion where the entire factions are involved, not just orcs humans.
