There is currently no way to restore a lost battle pet that had been released, accidentally or otherwise, from the pet journal. This would only apply to non-tradable battle pets that are ‘released,’ rather than ‘caged.’ I am requesting an addition to the item restoration tool to extend to allowing players to restore released battle pets.
It’s not like you’re releasing them on accident.

Yes, you can accidentally release the wrong one (wrong breed, wrong rarity etc.) when trying to release other battle pets.
I know, but isn’t there an “are u sure u wanna do that?” dialogue?

Sure, but it doesn’t offer any additional information and is the same for all pets, so you can’t differentiate between the one you want to release and the ones you don’t from it. There’s also the same dialogue for deleting items, which are already covered by item restoration. Given that precedent, there is no reason why battle pets should not also be available for restoration.
