New Realm Population Label System

I’m sorry but I just have to say the way this originally worked was absolutely stupid. Realm population should have always been based off of capacity. This is the biggest contributor to the problem with servers now and it’s too late for this to fix the servers that have already suffered because of it.

I changed servers 3 times so far and am now level 20 on one that was “low” population yesterday. Now since you finally decided to display realm population correctly it is low and behold a full server. Now I must set in a 5k queue or leave for another and lose my lvl 20 and friends or ride it out.

Gotta agree. Whoever thought the original version of this was a good idea needs their head examined. It explains why people were going to " medium pop " servers and finding 7k+ queues.

Now that it is actually based on that realms population we have an actual idea that everything is freaking full so no matter where you went you were still going to see the same problem.

Players were following Blizzards advice and basically trading one problem for a new one based on faulty information.

I personally don’t mind waiting on a que but when its a 6 to 15 hour wait to play when it can randomly crash dc or rest at any given time to then re-enter a 10 hour que again is a joke wheres these free realm transfers I for one do not want to reroll a low pop sever to grind 20 lvls again that took 16 hours bcos I was lucky to log in right as the game opened up to the shut down last night but if there was transfers like how the streamer realms got on the oce severs id be more then happy to switch from this stupid que to actually play with out waiting half a life time to log in to play

LOL wow thanks for explaining to all of us how you classify your server populations. I don’t know what we all would have done without this information. -We don’t care how you classify the server pops. We care about what you guys are gonna do to stop the 7 hour que times. We shouldn’t have to keep starting a new character on a different server to avoid this. Its funny though every time we look up a streamer they are magically playing the game as if the que was never a problem for them. HMMMMMMMMMMM strange.

I mean thats cool and all but how about you guys come out with a solution for the problem you created by initial launching 3 pvp est servers… Only blizzard could manage to have a 26k que and let the world feel completely empty.

There are several who got hit. Azmondgold and a player from method got set back by ~10 levels worth of time based on how far the rest of his party managed to get while he was stuck in que.

actually ACTUALLY this new way of seeing the server populations will allow us to self correct and spread out. there are also now 30 servers.

Further, streamers can sleep those que times off and have others keep watch to make sure they dont sleep past it. they also could remain in the game. Streamers saw the que a mile away and were already at the front gates to make sure they got in. and even then not all streamers have been able to avoid hitting a que. Method for example can keep going because its not just 1 person streaming.

I logged into Expanded to clear my mails as there were things I didn’t want to lose. While I was doing that, I FINALLY realized why it isn’t fun for me anymore.

It’s literally all just BUSYWORK. Why bother maxing professions? No one will buy anything we make anymore, they don’t need to. Every expansion is just a big funnel, pour us all in so we can get to “the endgame” because that’s where all the fun (work) is.

I hope they take a good, long, HARD look at the numbers that are playing Classic, at how many resubbed JUST to play Classic and then look at the differences between the two versions. Maybe then Expanded will get some attention paid to making it fun & worthwhile to play, rather than just busywork to get players to the Mythic dungeons.

So. Much. This.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess in retail version the original method was used to make some servers appear more populated, when in reality they were ghost towns.

Very underhanded and I’m sure when we aren’t looking they will be reverted back to the previous method.

Exactly this, I don’t have time or the desire to continue making new characters, or do the starter zones over and over.

Such an easy solution, it’s baffling. Spin up more layers to let people play, and offer transfers in the future before layering is removed. Communicate potential problems to prepare players for that transfer. Open up realms as needed.

If 80% player fall off is what they expect (which is laughable but that’s what they think) then there is no problem with more layers to alleviate queues.

The key is patience. I like how it’s been like 24hrs since launch and people are going on about how much time they’ve put into their characters LOL! I feel for those people, man, it sucks to play 15hr and realize you might have to pick a different server, but stuff like this happens in almost every MMO launch. It’s always a circus. You have to let the dust settle OR TBH, be more open as a group to change servers.

To Blizz: Please don’t add anymore servers. This is more than enough. Wait a few weeks these queues won’t be the same as they are now.

given how long the servers have been around the old way would show a more stable view of what to expect. a High pop or full server would show that that is a full server. dont roll there unless you want to deal with all the competition in the market. They expect ques at peek hours or releases. but they can off set all that with sharding people in the world are from other servers. and offsets the few places that would be over crowded. lots of people on a single point is far more server stressful than the same number spread out.

This could not have been said any better.

That’s so much less confusing.

So why didn’t y’all just do that in the first place? Was it just some old system left in place or something?

Yea I agree with this. Keeping those first few servers open after launch I think really screwed things up.

Still doesn’t work right. Sat in a “high” server queue this morning. Keep trying though I’m sure you’ll get it eventually

Are all servers created equally? Like you didn’t put Herod on a server made by interns in a basement using spare parts and put Bigglesworth on the latest and greatest state of the art platform?

Because all the people stuck in 10 hour ques will quit… This…is not a good solution.

come on over to deviate guys and gals

Do players with characters leveled on a server already get priority for login?
