Just a single Alliance server will probably do.
We honestly just need megasevers at this point. There will always be a faction imbalance, but I hope Blizzard tries to balance and populate both sides.
More realistic, I hope that Blizzard doesnāt just look at low pop/new players. It needs help medium pop too, which I am pretty sure they are going to do. Medium pops are just as dead as low pops. My server alone has only 365 average hordes, and a peak of 650 hordes. This is with a connected realm with the server of Ravencrest.
Like another person say, please show connected server as groups, make a new realm list system that shows you the groups.

But itās NOT mergingā¦ that would require server renaming. The only thing theyāve merged is Data Centers Los Angeles/Phoenix and Chicago/New York.

Thereās been no reason to have so many realms for so long. Refraining from merging them has only allowed the population imbalance to drastically increase - Arthasā alliance pop is absolutely horrible (itās always been in favor of the Horde, but from Cataclysm to present day it has just been slowly hemorrhaging what little Alliance are left). Various servers are almost literal ghost towns for certain factions because so few people play.
In short, a good step in the right direction, but likely an instance of ātoo little, too lateā.

Question: So, when SL pop upā¦ wonāt this generate a lag problem or big login queues when people return to WoW? 
Iām not against the idea please donāt get me wrong. However Iām really worry it might impact my game experience and cinematic in gameā¦ as Iām really looking forward to this (as a lot of my returning friends). 
NOTE: If you already taken this into account then NVM and a big AWSOME! More people to meet and play content with!

It shouldnāt case lag, per se. Depending on whoās connected to what and general interest in expansion, you might see queues on launch day. But once youāre actually logged on, it will be about the same since youād have been CRZ/sharded with people from another realm either way.

A LOT of my real life friends are coming back for SLā¦ and I got worried thanx again.
The merged servers work quite well. My main servers were Shadowsong and Borean Tundra, as it ends up they merged them. lol
Very handy actually. What you see in chat if there is no tag then itās on the same server you are on, if not, then for example: Iām on Shadowsong so I will see in chat something like PlayerA-BoreanTundra:
You can trade with anyone on a merged server, itās like one larger server. Well, as long as they are in the same faction. lol

Right now I am on Argent Dawn/Scryers. Yet we are in competition with resources from other realms, such as Earthen Ring, and it is overwhelming. The question at hand is whether or not the increase in server population will reduce the cross realm competition outside of your connected realms.

I finally convince them to come back to SLā¦ I got worried because the last friends I invited to BfA were extremely vocal with their frustration before they stop playing. Didnāt want to go through playing with my friends only to see them frustrated again.

Oh, I understand what you mean. Hopefully Blizzard will be able to reveal more information in that regard soon.
Though I donāt think it will change for us in war mode though, since we are in a separate shard as it is. In other words, I would imagine we will continue to see mixing of a lot of realms while war mode is active.
Hoping for some of the dead RP realms to be connected with the bigger ones.
Thatās putting it lightly. When we were accidentally merged last yearā¦ I couldnāt hear myself think with so many people around, and WRA players were extremely rude to us. Not fun.
Kaivax, please do consider that the populations of some Medium realms are in fact extremely low. The Lightninghoof/Maelstrom/Venture-Co connection is a good example of this. There are times when I would log in months ago and there would be more Hunter bots in Eye of Azshara than the rest of the realms actual players combined.
I do believe the bots on some of these Medium population servers are the sole reason they display as Medium instead of Low, or at least they were before the pandemic.
