New Realm Connections are Underway

Just wondering, are you confusing Cross Realm Zoning
with server connections?

The EU connections went horribly wrong.

They are still working to restore the lost guilds.

:grimacing:

Okay. Here’s what happened on DE realms:

(1) low pop realm connecting to an already connected five realm cluster

The low pop realm lost all of it’s guilds, and access to the guild bank.
The returning mails from the AH were lost.

Two days of raiding without guild bank access.

After two days almost all guilds are restored.

(2) two low pop RP clusters (A/B and C/D) should be connected

They cancelled it, because of the problems (see above).

But the AH and BMAH were connected for some time, so that dups happened.

And the worst thing is: No message from the blues on the forum about this desaster.

should be noted the Russian connection also didn’t go through (Blackscar-Borean tundra were to be connected as well with the first wave)

ur confused

CRZ (the people you see in the world) are typically specific to time zone
they just exist in your phase
you cant trade them gold/items outside of instances and you cant join their guilds

right now you can be on any server in the game and encounter anyone else on most servers in the game based on player grouping and zone density
this has been a thing / existed for 5 years or so now
if i went out to zuldazar right now chances are i too will see players from a few of those realms and i’m on blackrock

connected realms (what they’re doing) are completely different
it’s literally taking 2+ realms and connecting them so you can trade/join guilds/share auction houses

you do not and will not share and ah with quel’thalas or ragnaros u racist weirdo

My only real question is, if they are going to try and keep like realms, eg rp with rp etc
, does that mean some realms will be moved to different battlegroups since the 2 realms I play on, from what I can tell, are the only 2 rp realms in their battlegroups.

I don’t believe battlegroups are the issue.
It’s data center location.

Will I be reimbursed for the character transfers I bought migrating from a dead server so I didn’t have to always feel like the last man on earth?

Actually? No it wouldn’t. I would dearly love not to be linked to 3 or 4 Horde heavy servers and not have to lfr with the likes of Quel and Rag

You realize that LFRing with Brazilians has nothing to do with connected realms, right?

If that is the case, there are enough RP realms in the Chicago data center. Was just wondering if they would be moving realms to different battlegroups in the same data center or just connecting them across battlegroups and eventually dissolving battlegroups altogether.

We all are grouped with Quel and Rag through LFR already every day, what are you talking about?

Quel and Rag are Latin American servers.
Brazillian servers are Azralon, Nemesis, Goldrinn, Gallywix and Tol Barad.

That’d be my b.

I dont know which is which. Lol. I do know the list of “not English” servers, but living in Europe not really speaking the majority language, it doesn’t bother me until it becomes a problem.

And most of them understand enough English to get by, you just get trolls sometimes.

All good, a lot of people don’t seem to know which is which.

Last night we needed a tank for our Heroic N’zoth farm group and invited a tank with 2 DPS from Drakkari (also a Latin American server). They said “We dosen’t speak English, sorry!” when we shared the Discord link, and they just did their own thing without joining and made us crash 3 times.

We had to kick them.

I’d have removed them after the first mess up.

Not wanting discord is one thing. Not wanting to do it right after is another.

I understand the desire to not support low pop servers, but not everyone wants a full realm. At this point I’d guess the majority of players that want fuller realms have left for greener pastures (transfer/reroll). The rest of us are here for reasons other than community (I play solo 100% of the time).

The initial purpose of my post was to ask if there was going to be an publication of the planned matches for realm connections. Players and guilds certainly have made plans for SL that they might be working towards and which will be impacted by server connections. It would be appropriate for Blizzard to publish the plans for server connections which may impact the player base so we can manage our accounts appropriately.

Secondarily, this has been floating through my subconscious for a while
Blizzard should really establish a select number of realms that will have limited population range, for example X to Y accounts. If the cap is reached, they can disable transfers and new character creation unless you already have an active character on that server. If it dips close to the minimum, it can be reopened to transfers, new accounts etc. Everyone would be given a limited time transfer option to one of those servers until the cap is reached. I’d probably limit their CRZ to other small servers or eliminate CRZ entirely.

A survey to determine what portion of the player base wants a limited server size would be helpful, but there is clearly a certain portion of players who desire small servers so it’s really only a matter of how many of these limited size servers are needed.

Ideally, you could do the same with mid size servers. Large servers seem to work out on their own.

This is the main reason I like that they do it this way. You don’t have to worry about losing your names. You aren’t going to log in one day and realize someone on the server they merged yours into already had your name. Doesn’t happen in this case.

When you see another player it says Name - Server. Which I am cool with, though I hope they eventually just remove the server name unless you like click on them to check it. No need to display it every place I see the persons name.
Just need to make it so it pops up in a tooltip or something.

i think these worries are kind of silly

when they connect realms they don’t create area52 type realms (20-25k players) with connections

if you’re on a low low low pop realm (1k~ players) you’ll be merged with a few other 1k~ player realms to create something much closer to somewhere like kil’jaeden which has like 5k players or blackrock that has 4k players (i promise both of them feel incredibly dead and have no q times(
