I don’t know how this works, but I do know that when we BG with the low-skilled baseline from our server group, I see a lot of Tichondrius tags playing against us. Honestly, our entire world when WM is on is nothing but Tichondrius, and it’s 15 of them against 1 of us population-wise at this point.
Battlegroups have been removed from the game for awhile now… you see anyone and everyone in BGs, as long as they’re part of your region. (US, EU, etc)
Found it:
With the introduction of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and Rated battlegrounds, battlegroups no longer apply to battlegrounds.[1][2] Players from different battlegroups can PvP against each other in both random and rated battlegrounds if they are in the same region (US, EU, etc.).
Thank you.
I have many toons on many unconnected realms. Since I can’t memorize all the connected realms, I can’t recognize who is on my connected realm when I see someone chatting on a channel (since sharding, aka CRZ, temporarily moves people together from different realms.) Therefore by default I assume everyone in the chat channels are from non-connected realms which essentially does the opposite of Blizzard’s intent here, which was to bring people together. Connected realms might have been a good idea if it wasn’t for the sharding which totally negates the effect.
Well the first mergers happened today… the results seem wonderful. 2 of the clusters being merged were down for 10 hours only to come back online and everyone in trade was surprised to figure out that nothing changed and the servers were in fact still seperated, on the last server every guild from EU-Aman’Thul was deleted (with the guild banks) and the entire server suddenly became guildless
ummmmm WTH .
3 mergers were to happen today:
Russian: Чёрный Шрам (Blackscar) - Борейская тундра (Borean Tundra)
GermanRP: Zirkeldescenarius/Todeswache - Forscherliga/DieNachtwache
German: Aman’thul - Anub’Arak/Dalvengyr/Frostmourne/Nazjatar/Zuluhed
The Russian and German RP connections failed (those servers are still separate)… the last one did get merged but it seems like they copied Aman’thul over to the Nazjatar cluster but forgot the guilds (people are still guildless 10 hours later)
IMO they should reduce sharding or change it to layering. The current setup is terrible for war-mode. I mostly play on a small alliance dominant server, but when I turn on war-mode, all I see is horde from Dalaran and other large horde servers. If you try to find the guy who ganked you… Nope, he sharded away.
Please revert server types back to normal/PvP while you’re at it and remove Warmode so we can bring back the true fun end game content World Defense alerts as well for the love of god remove phasing all together…
Was a little concerned when I first read about this and then figured out it wasn’t merging, it was just like connecting others. I also want to comment on something, I am glad that Blizzard has add the ability not to ever have to pvp as that was one reason I quit years ago. I am not a pvp player, never have been, never will be so again thank you.
Blizzard must remove CRZ when they connect realms together, or else what is the point in it. CRZ should’ve never been introduced into WoW, it has killed server communities. Just like when you go into the forge all you see is so many damn random people from all other servers for what? What is the damn point in it?
Let servers mean something again, let people meet other people from their server in the open world again. Instead of just seeing random people from random server who don’t give 2 craps about other people in the open world, they might as well be NPCs.
Did I miss where they mentioned what the new realm connections are? Or is it going to happen Soon™?
I don’t think they’ve announced that yet. I was looking for the same info, to see if Azgalor was getting more connections since the first 7 didn’t make a difference.
no US servers have merged yet but they have already started on EU… they will probably announce the mergers 3-5 days before it happens to whatever server.
Merging those two will never happen. Both are too substantial, and too large-pop. These mergers are for servers that are largely dying out. They merged my old server (Farstriders) with Silver Hand and Thorium Brotherhood not long ago, and it’s still circling the drain. Honestly, I’d rather just see them close servers and move people to other ones, and stop keeping them open just to keep them open. If a server’s operating at 10% capacity to what it was running at in Cataclysm, then obviously people aren’t coming there for anything but server-firsts (which idk if those are even a thing anymore beyond some raiding achievs). Keep some of the upper-level-activity low-pop servers open in case there’s an influx, but for the most part, you can definitely tell which servers are still kicking, and which ones barely have any activity anymore.
Why would you merge two full servers, a low pop and a high pop server together? it’d be impossible to login.
Ragnaros, azralon, nemesis, tichondrius, quel thalas… can they be there own cluster
All four of those are full pop servers.
for the economy, half have ruined economies
I think more realms are a better indicator of population than just smooshing everyone together and saying look guys, high pop realms.
