There are only upsides to connected realms over merging realms. You get a bigger pool of potential names and get to keep the ones you already had.
There are two raiding guilds left on my serverā¦ Two. Weāre dying for an influx of people and weāll take what we can get.
Relying on IO to get a group blows. Itās something people on high pops take for granted. Iāll also enjoy a well stocked AH for once.
I actually think small servers are appealing in their own way. The lone adventurer with his/her small group of tagalongs rarely meeting a fellow traveler. Those rare connections make for more memorable encounters and actually prove to be more realistic than some mega server.
I think low population servers need to stay in the game.
If anything, if people want more population, they should go to a higher population server. I went to a small server specifically for the world to be quiet. I was tired of all the advertisements ruining the realism and my groups experience.
Iāve played on low pop for as long as I can remember (not this xpac). Connected realms is just like a server merge but better. Iām looking forward to my server getting more connections for SL.
If theyād combine this with removing CRZ that would be perfect. Think connected realms are necessary. CRZ is pointless.
The only thing CRZ seems to do is fill areas with packs of multi-boxers.
Exactly, surely by now in the games history the low pop people have gravitated to low pop servers and vise versa. This is forcing people to play the way bliz wants not allowing customers to make their own choices.
If by now your craving social interaction and your still on a low pop server, well ive got nothing constructive i can say to you. There must be a very small group of people making big decisions at bliz if they can come up with this without considering all the issues.
Lack of diversity in decision making.
Is it possible to share which servers are being merged to what?
Somewhat useful to know if rolling a new toon (whether searching for community, economy, whatever).
My worry would be how this affects rare spawning mobs, both in legacy content and going forward.
Connected realms and cross realm are 2 different things. Connected effectively merges servers together without having character name collisions. They just need to do a better job of showing connected realms in the realm list.
Cross realm is what randomly throws players from multiple realms/realm groups together when a zone is low pop.
Some realms have slowly lost population and people either canāt afford to transfer everything they have to a new server or donāt want to have to shell out that kind of money. Donāt blame people for wanting higher population. Blizz has all the tools to fix this completely if they wanted.
Does this mean only servers with literal ālowā pop status on the realm list or is it more realistically a server population threshold? My realm has been listed as medium for a long time now, but is actually fairly low pop.
Hereās hoping this somehow fixes the āshard instabilityā issue referenced in tech supportās Known Issues thread since May 2019 with no fix still.
cross realm still populates players into zones that are fairly empty.
Low pop realms barely exist anymore thanks to CRZ. If you go anywhere out in the world, youāre going to see a lot of people.
The only thing connected realms really changes is how many of those people can join guilds or trade stuff.
You got that right. Worst frickin thing they have done to this game imo, was cramming everyone from realms who the hell cares together. You see all these toxicity in game threads pop up all the time, and imo this was the biggest cause of itā> crz. Merging some low pop realms with some medium pop from the get go is what they should of did, instead of this crz rubbish.
If I may be so boldā¦with the glory that is phasing for high population sectors, and the awesomeness that is war mode, why not just have 1 ārealmā per region. (or two if you want to keep RP separateā¦or create an RP toggle for phase purposesā¦)
The problem should solve itself over time if you do phasing in a priority way - Local realm first then same time zone then region (or something like that)
This will permanently solve the low pop problem as well as fix an issue I have basically quit (gone extreme casual really) over.
cross realm activity (LFG, even premade LFG) has a permanent economic and social barrier making it difficult to maintain guild cohesion and populations. By connecting all realms if you play with a cross-realm pug you can invite them to your guild, trade with them, help each other on epic quests (shadowmourne like quests) and be one big happy world of warcraft.
Just a thoughtā¦I love wow because I get to play with people and experience a story. Guilds are a big part of that as is a mutually beneficial economic structure.
Great, now the few quiet backwaters will be paired up with the substantially larger populations some of us were trying to avoid.
only those from that area - they arenāt going to pair rag with US realms - Ragnaros is considered full anyway, so hopefully they wonāt be dumping more people onto full servers.
In fact right now there are only 5 low population servers in the United States section so maybe not as many connections as people are expecting.
