Nope, paladin can’t range dps.
And you apparently only read the one sentence in my post that you quoted and failed to read any of the rest of it which explains what I could see working better, and why I don’t think a dragon elements type thing would make sense as a tank slowclap
I assume that the black dragon magic will be used elsewhere in the class.
That said, if they don’t utilize it anywhere else, it’d be weird since they said “5” not “4”.
If they add a tank spec, then cool. If they don’t, idgaf.
They should definitely be able to be other classes.
I still kinda wish instead of an experiment, that these were juvenile dragons going out into the world to learn and help. Then having a mount size regular dragon form, which could also play the role of bear an cat form as a druid. Either as mount size, or they could magically shrink themselves down a wee bit more to be courteous to their allies
Having the customizable dragonriding mount, being their regular dragon form would have been much cooler, then having the anthro version as an option for combat too.
More options, the better.
Tank…I wonder with the return of bigger talent trees, if they could bring back gladiator for warriors and if there was an Evoker tank spec, a talent to make it a melee dps spec similar to gladiator.
It’d have been neat had Evoker been tank, melee dps, caster dps, healer like druids are.
Easily could have been.
I forget they are a small indie studio.
Yea the new ranged class is good. I just wanted a dragon race with multiple classes. I want a Dragon Paladin so bad, man. I want to glide around throw hammers at people.
How does asking for a race to have access to all 3 roles sound like being ungrateful? Like really, should the next race have zero access to DPS? People can voice their complaints about the design of things, it’s how you got blue eyes.
Why not? This is developmental phase and perfect time for people to ask for another tank spec.
There’s never really been a shortage of the DPS, and there’s unlikely to be a significant increase in healers, most will be current healers on new toons.
They’re big chonky armored bois. Tanks by default and it generally takes a whole raid to kill them.
And Hogger has the highest kill status of any classic NPC iirc
Ya they should ask for a tank spec. I never said they shouldn’t. I just doubt they will add it. Like I said before, people should ask for what they want. The worst thing that can happen is they say no, but they definitely won’t get it if they don’t ask.
As a tank only player I do feel slighted this class wasn’t designed with a 3rd spec ( tank ). I am disappointed in general that a company of this caliber chooses to twice in a row put out classes with only 2 specs when there are some classes with 4 specs. While I realize all new additions are time consuming I also believe this company has or can procure the resources necessary to make whole classes. I 100% agree we were due for a ranged addition but as others have stated with this race being class locked that class should have all 3 roles. When I think of dragons I think of tough scales and as others have pointed out this class is suppose to have parts of all 5 aspects. We also have no mail tank options!! This was a missed opportunity for that.
I definitely plan to test the new class in the prepatch but don’t forsee giving up tanking in the long haul, however I really love the dragon class concept and in a worst case scenario I could give up tanking to play it.
With kids and a full time job I don’t have the time to keep up with multiple characters in any realistic way so multi toons isn’t in the cards for me. On the limited occasions I do play dps it is ranged and I mained a druid for the longest time to have the tank/rdps option. It would have been great to have a secondary option for that set-up.
Then again I am also on the much-debated shaman tank bandwagon. With class revamps and talent trees coming back with the supposed goal of more versatile choices now if ever would be the time to support it. Some of my best memories from classic were early game shaman tanking. This would again be a mail tank option.
While I agree more tank classes do not mean more people will play tanks, the more options that are out there the better chances people will find a tanking spec they enjoy. Also by locking a highly desirable race to a non tanking class we will surely see a few tanks jump ship at least for a while. While this won’t be a significant number, it is something.
On the one hand, it is a dragon. And dragons tend to be tanky.
On the other hand, Shapeshifty high health tank is guardian druid’s bag… and DH kind of edged in on that identity slightly with being another shapeshifty high health tank.
Lets not have a third shapeshifty high health tank.
I honestly think they will add more classes to the Drakthyr later on rather than make an entire new spec for Evoker. I’m still surprised they are locked to one class. Every race usually gets warrior and hunter at least.
People have been asking for shaman tanks for years. Maybe they will surprise everyone and add more specs to classes in 9.25 preorder. I doubt it, but maybe it could happen.
Does every new class that gets added has to have a tank spec?
Why not request for a tank spec on the already available classes, such as Shamans for example?
We’ve been asking for years to no avail. At least a new class has historically good chances of getting a tank spec.
Give Shamans a tank spec/thread
Healer takes priority honestly… last healer to be added was MOP, first ranged character period. Tanks got one in legion.
With this addition, 6 healing classes (disc and holy is one class, so no it doesn’t count as two) 6 tank classes and everyone can dps.
Once again, going back to this here:
Look at this here
CLASS | RDPS | MDPS | HEAL | TANK | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Warrior | |||||
Hunter | |||||
Mage | |||||
Rogue | |||||
Priest | |||||
Warlock | |||||
Paladin | |||||
Druid | |||||
Sharman | |||||
Monk | Added MoP | ||||
Demon Hunter | Added Legion | ||||
Death Knight | Added WotLK |
You have 5 classes that can heal, and 6 classes that can tank, and people still asking for more tanks. On top of that, there is less RDPS than Malee DPS.
Range tanking will never be a thing. Even if one day we get a spellblade (a mage tank like the the boss in Nighthold), it’ll still be a melee-centric tank spec that, thematically, uses spells.
The reason for this is the game flat out can’t handle the idea of a range tank. Either the tank would be so broken good or utterly useless. There is no middle ground here. The core mechanics of WoW need tanks taking damage and range tanks would, be design, need to be kiting and avoiding damage and be centered around that…otherwise they are just objectively better since they require less healing while still doing the tank job.
Same reason why the bard or a pure utility class can’t exist. Either the class would be so broken as to be mandatory for group content or so weak that groups wouldn’t take them. Again, there is not middle ground here.
Your point? These aren’t mutually exclusive.
