Not if people keep insisting they look like High Elves or runway models…no. Which means no saying the SC are half elves, their appearance is already in the game and changing those models would cause a riot among the High Elf faithful.
Make them far more ordinary looking, easily - and I mean easily, not idling stances or hairstyles - distinguishable from Thalassians with every bit as much human in them as elf (which is what I proposed over a year ago when I started the “Half Elves, a workable compromise?” thread over a year ago) and let’s talk.
I’ve seen the examples you put forward, they are far too idealized for me to accept. Half Elves would be far more ordinary, and should be as easy to confuse with humans as they are with elves. That leaves the SC out because they are physically identical to their Blood Elf counterparts.
well for me, the point of making them super attractive is to pick up new players for the alliance, at character creation screen and to appeal to players who want a pretty/handsome elf on the alliance. this method saved the horde in tbc. it’s tried and proven.
guess i dont get it since it was a solution to the high elf problem. seems the people who dont want us to have high elves or half elves, dont want more elves, though i have caught some who said no more elves, embracing the idea of san’layn. when questioned, the excuse was the belf model belonged to the horde and san’layn are belf models so why not.
Go back and read what I wrote. I did not write “No to Half Elves”, I wrote, to paraphrase myself, “No to Half Elves the way you keep insisting they need to be implemented”
I do like the idea of Half Elves as a option the future, perhaps based on human model or whatever, but they do need to be for themselves and not alternative this is were I think we disagree at.
To you, Hyper…to you. The elf ears here are completely normal, for here…which is where we are. I know you want to remake the Alliance into a Tolkienesque Blizzard version of the LotRO good guys, I’m opposed.
no, i think the alliance is an edgy approximation of tolkien’s holy trinty of human, dwarf and elf. in tolkien, there were high elves, wood elves and half elves. i dont think there were dark elves. cant remember. in wow, the horde have the high elves, and alliance got the edgy dark elf wood elves…and whatever the heck i would be called in traditional fantasy race terminology. some abomination, anyway.
You know, I’m half-surprised I haven’t seen a thread started suggested gnomes be remade into halflings at this point. I’m sure they would love being turned into hobbits.
