I’m still holding out hope that they don’t limit this to humans but give those types of customizations to all the races that have skin colors in the range of people in real life (with pallid undead versions)
First of all, rude.
And what exactly is a Void Elf? Nothing more than a Blood/High Elf with void powers. Sure Umbric and his ilk were physically becoming Ethereals, but if we count Alleria as a Void Elf than we need to expand the definition as to what defines them; an elf with void powers
So yes, the fantasy of playing a Void Elf was already available on the Horde.
One would argue Alleria looks the way she does since it may have been the original concept for void elves. They realized it would not work given her appearance, and made the PC model different. Given she does have many of their characteristics, including a void form which is seemingly her “true form”, I would argue she is indeed a void elf. She has changed herself over time, and her void form is indicative of what it will be if she were to simply give into her power.
Alleria could probably identity however she wants, to be honest. She seems to identity as a Void Elf though. All I was saying is that being all voided out doesn’t do much to change the identity of Void Elves as a playable race, Half Elves would’ve been a more organic and appropriate choice. Given the uniqueness of half breed races I hope the door hasn’t officially closed on them
I agree with you, and I wonder if it is just design philosophy in the way at this point
Two major things stand in their way as far as I can tell. Could be that Blizz wants to swear off of allied races for a while, and Half Elves seem unlikely to many people so it’s hard for the request to pick up steam
If we had more official information about Half Elves or what one would look like in modern WoW people may get more excited about them
Stinky elf.
For the love of God no more elves.
Real talk, no more different strains of the same races. Give us something genuinely unique with it’s own skeleton, or just allow these races to be customization options.
The only moderate exception would be typically alliance races on horde and vice versa.
Half Elves are not entirely elf though. They’re part human as well (assuming that’s the kind of Half breed we’re talking about)
Blizz could add something this unique if they wanted to, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be popular. Despite Kul Tirans being completely unique they’re going down as one of the least played races in WoW
That being said, the first wave of allied races were reskins. Recent ones have been much more fleshed out and unique. Half Elves would not need to be a reskin, I’d hope that Blizz would take the time to make them distinct
Bad extreme examples like your crab goblin should never be taken into account.
Vulpura are furry goblins.
Mechagnomes are literally still just gnomes.
Kul tirians are orc humans.
My point is that uniqueness for the sake of being unique won’t always yield good results. The idea behind the allied race system is to offer new races that’re either variants of existing ones or that reuse assets from another
I believe the ship for High Elves as a reskinned version of Blood Elves with blue eyes has sailed, but Half Elves have a shot at being unique, popular and lore-friendly
Half elves have been around for years they just never had a unique model. Blizzard could make them one finally and if you scroll through the posts you can find some excellent examples of half elf concepts that would make them fairly unique.
Or go the Nightborne route, take a model, and modify it’s idle stance and motions to provide a new silhouette. Saw some pictures a while ago that looked like they’d be cool for half-elves, even if the person who made them marked them as High Elves.

half elf could be cool, especially a night elf/worgen half elf
It could be done, sure, but a new model would be better to ensure it is unique in all aspects.
There is already way to many elves in the game. Give the alliance some sort of cutesy cuddly allied race to help rebalance things and be done with it.
not really trying to advocate one way or the other on half elves
but a few of the allied races have only a few hundred members (and that’s being generous for races like void elves and mag’har)
with how long humans and high elves have been interacting, I’d expect half elves to actually have a half(heh)way decent population.
After how terrible AR were handled I honestly can say I never want more races added to wow if theyre behind rep or similar grinds.
If we do please no more friggen elves🙄
Why would you play a half elf when you could play a whole one?
But I do remember half elves and half orcs and stuff from Dungeons and Dragons.
