I agree.
But I think there are people saying that some didn’t see it as a compromise so half elves would be one they’d accept.
Maybe…not sure.
You forgot green.
Half elves exist, look at Garona. Yeah, there are no hybrid character models.
Before void elves, posters were asking for minor modifications to blood elves to be played as alliance.
After void elves, posters were still asking for minor modifications to blood elves to be played as alliance.
There is only one and thats kalecgos which doesn’t look quite right.
Fixed it for ya
What model would you use, given all the possible race combinations? And why would a half Tauren half goblin be Alliance?
It makes no sense to limit miscegeny to elves, unless you’re saying elves are inherently dissolute.
Half blood elf half night elf?
Tauren are secretly alliance spies and goblins are neutral for money.
But aren’t those just orcs?
Not sure what model.
Alliance doesn’t need a new race. They just need gnome druids.
There actually is one unique Half Elf model. It’s dated as sin, but it’s based on the human model
Imo being a void-themed race doesn’t inherently make them more unique than what Half Elves could be. A Half Elf shadow priest would be leagues above Void Elves in that regard
well, the alliance high elves, particularly the ones who set up housekeeping in dalaran, were intermixing with humans and so werent as isolationist as most elves were at the time.
remember the night elf response to the presence of humans in w3, even as potential allies, was that they were outlanders that shouldn’t be trusted.
most elves were not into sharing their spaces with alliance races. took awhile for them to warm up to jaina and thrall as allies, because they were still smarting from the offworld orc invasion. they were suspicious of arcane magic users, because of the sundering, and so would not have been happy with blood elves at the time, either, who were also on the alliance. you know they wouldnt have accepted the dalaran high elves, for the same reason.
alliance high elves were an aberration amongst mainstream elven cultures.
Half-elf, and half … what? Frankly I’m tired of the half this, that, or other “races.” If they are created by magic, why would they be a new race? They would be like mules; sterile. The idea is even worse than zombies as a playable “race”.
half orc half ogre = mok’nathal. i believe rexxar is mok’nathal, correct me if i’m wrong.
half elf half human = half elf.
we dont have any half this or that races that are playable. so dunno how you can be sick of something that doesnt exist yet.
Because I play other games than WoW. They always have half-elf races. Usually it’s from human/elf mating, but there is the thing. Why would they be able to mate? They’re not just different races, but different species.
know who arator is? he’s the half elven son of the alliance high elf alleria windrunner (sister of sylvannas) and the human turalyon. theres also the twin sons of the alliance high elf veressa windrunner (also a sister of sylvannas and alleria) and her husband the human rhonin. then there’s the original guardian… i think of tirisfal glade. forget his name. and the blue dragonflight leader, kalecgos, takes a half elven form in magisters terrace after you click the globe, half way thru the instance. that blue dragon that flies in and changes to a human looking guy with blue hair, is his half elf version named kalec.
did you know this?
Alodi I believe.
Never heard of him. Does it matter? A writer made a mistake by allowing them to mate (my second point), or it is a special, magical union and thus unique (my first point).
So either way, there is no rationale for a half-elf “race.”
Its a land of magical swords of ridiculous sizes and strange otherworlds with space space you can fly through…
Why would the mating of species be limited to the real world version? This is a common trope of fantasy.
Get over it I guess?
But the elves that were in Dalaran when that happened were a split between the two groups.
And I don’t see how night elves play into a discussion of if high elves are really splitting away from their people or just separated temporarily as they fight to change the current course of that people.
Just because magic exists does not mean reality ceases. Having a basis in reality makes the magic work, not vice versa.
according to the elisande event in the suramar cinematic, the quel’dorei (alliance high elves) have diluted their bloodlines with other races. the only races listed thus far, that they’ve mated with were humans. and that because for the last 3k years, a group of high elves went to live in dalaran, and didnt leave to outlands when kael’thas took the blood elves to learn under the tutelage of illidan. i think they didnt go because they had made too many family bonds with humans in dalaran.
i’m just showing how it was unusual for the alliance high elves in dalaran, to be so accepting of other races since the other elves were isolationist, including their own kin. the high elves of silvermoon werent intermingling with humans. that stuff was only happening with the dalaran high elves.
