New Race / Class Combinations That Make Sense!

It’s this part of that referenced link that gives me more pause:

“…the Farstriders retain some of their forebears’ connection to nature…”

Was the exodus before or after Ysera gifted the Elves with a link to the Emerald Dream?

When they got there, I think it was winter and they all almost froze to death. They changed it so it would be not only beautiful but also have a hospitable temperature. But they did it with what? A mixture of nature and arcane magics…

I don’t think a connection to nature always means a connection to the Emerald Dream.

“Freezing to death” is a part of nature. Stopping the seasons because you’re too lazy to put on a coat is not an excuse.

I don’t believe that shortness of time is relevant. Anyone can be redeemed.

But a Farstrider just somehow has a connection to nature due to their ancestors? If the connection is still they’re after 10,000 years? Perhaps it is a connection to the dream.

I think that’s a stretch but you make a good point that a section of high elf/blood elf culture purposely live through nature and not the arcane.

I’ll have to look up a timeline of when Ysera made that gift and when the Elves were exiled. But it could yield results.

They were exiled for the belief that arcane magic was their birthright. Who says they cant use arcane and foster a connection with nature? Like seriously…

All Hunters have a connection to nature but that doesn’t mean they all have a connection to the Emerald Dream. I think you’re stretching on this one.

Worgen Shaman.

If you’re on the fence, Imagine the Swedish Chef saying it.

I could see a certain sect of the Farstiders turning to more Druidic forms of magic for scouting and travel in the forest, but the farstriders are also kind of the “not magic dudes” Rogues and Hunters and stuff. So I don’t know. It is possible at least, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Well after the Sundering Ysera blessed the Elves with a connection to the dream. After that the rebuilding began and the lack of arcane magic began to weigh heavily on some who eventually left under Dath’Remar. So I’d argue that, yes they do indeed have a connection to the dream. Though I doubt it’s something they know how to commune with since its a gifted that’s been forsaken and unused. But it’s still there as long as Nordrassil stands.

But I’ll admit I’m not differentiating between Night Elf, Highborne, or anything as they were all one race until after the splits.

A connection not used in 10,000 years. I agree with Ralanthel that it’s at least possible.

I don’t see that. i see that she blessed kaldorei Druids.

And the word I see is “bound,” not “blessed.”

“Ysera also placed an enchantment upon the World Tree by linking the spirits of the night elves to her own realm, the ethereal dimension known as the Emerald Dream.”

Where are you getting that? I don’t see it.

I thought that the high elves had already been exiled by that point. It’s been awhile since I read the trilogy.

Although, wasn’t Malfurion already under Cenarion tutelage before their introduction to the Aspects. I really need to refresh myself.

At the very least, the timing was re-markedly close.

According to this page Dath’Remar left during the rebuilding after the “no arcane” order came into effect.

Yes, he was practicing druidism all during the Sundering

You’re leaving out what comes after, which is what I said about it was just for the Druids:

The night elf druids, including Furion himself, were bound to the Dream through the World Tree. As part of the mystical pact, the druids agreed to sleep for centuries at a time so that their spirits could roam the infinite paths of Ysera’s Dreamways and the spirits of the night elves. Though the druids were wary of losing so many years of their lives to hibernation, they agreed to uphold their bargain with Ysera
