I would argue that the connection was made with those present. That’s assuming that the others weren’t present of course.
They use nature but I can’t see how they care about the balance when they do and say nothing about what is being done to the Eversong Woods.
Pretty sure the connection was made before the exile

I mean they didn’t agree with the Blood Knights use of the Naaru or see eye to eye with the Magisters. They aren’t an all powerful force within Sin’dorei society. And they were stretched thin keeping the borders secure until the Sunfury returned from Outland after the whole Kael’thas betrayal. Even now they don’t have much of a voice within Silvermoon.
That would make sense otherwise Nightborne would have druidism.
To me nightborne dont have as strong of an argument for druids. They did not try to assimilate to druidic society, they stayed locked into a bubble of arcane society with no ability to prowl/explore nature like belves.

Goblins don’t care for the balance of the elements but they can be shamans…
I don’t think the dreaming can be bargained with like the elementals. There really has to be a connection. It could be exploited in a similar way but you still require a connection to it.
What? You can’t apply Druid ethics to Shamans. Elementals can be very destructive. Fire elementals destroy entire zones. Certain earth elementals love pollution.
Or get bitten and cursed

All Druids care about the balance of nature… unless they worship Ragnaros.

IMO a druid who exploits a backdoor access into the dreaming is a neat idea. As a non playable character though, you’d assume they’d fall under a different name.
And I’m trying to say you can’t compare Druids and Shamans. They work completely different.
yes I know that. It was just an example. I was not trying to say they were the same. Just that people don’t necessarily have to care about a balance in order to do a certain type of magic

All priests speak to the light.
All shaman respect the 4 elements equally.
All paladin are knights of the silverhand… pre legion 
All druids are attuned to the world tree. If we only followed precendents set by what was only familiar at the time, we would have never had druids of taurens, trolls or drust. Sometimes rules are made to be broken.
I know that Hearthstone should never be considered canon but they’ve toyed with the idea of druids corrupted to be acolytes of death and decay.

You know what I think would be a good Druid race? Pandas. The August Celestials are wild gods. They would have such cool forms:
Bear = Ox (Niuzao)
Cat = Cat (Xuen)
Moonkin = Some play on Yu’lon. Not sure how.
Resto = Some play on Chi-ji. Again, not sure how.

Ehhh I would say all Druids have a connection to the Emerald Dream, including Kul Tiran. It just hasn’t been said how they have a connection yet.
It’s a good idea but I have to tell you I’ve been attacked over the pandaren druid idea too
