So with the PvP trinket bonus of Versatility removed, will the Primary Stat and Stamina bonus for having both actually be worth it over PvE trinkets? I was thinking about this earlier and was wondering if someone had an answer for this.
I saw a video of someone hitting a target dummy 100 times with melee swings in PTR and in live. The damage is about the same without any external modifiers.
I’m not too sure. They weren’t avail for testing but the jailer trinket for mages, and i think other classes as well resets your cov ability and gives 1,310 versa at mythic ilvl 278.
Kinda sounds really OP for some classes, far better then PVP one
Edit: ok maybe just necrolord, double fleshcraft
350 stamina is pretty huge, it’s another 10k hp while in PvP. Especially with how burst orientated this entire expansion has been I think the consistent damage from primary stat and extra hp will help more consistently then another setup.
It may be entirely class/comp specific though. Obviously RMX will be able to take advantage of PvE trinkets if they want because of how that comp plays hit and reset style.
Thanks everyone for the responses it has been something I pondered on the moment I saw the change. The Stamina is nice to have but that versatility trinket does in fact look like it might get picked up by some classes which sort of worries me a bit with how bfa and pve trinkets were. I do love the idea of getting some stat bonus tied specifically to using PvP trinkets so hopefully the Stamina does the trick.
Other trinkets are pretty meh, I can see the only one being a nuisance is the jailer trinket for double fleshcraft abuse if its not patched out for Pvp.
i expect to see it in AWC. ret/war/rsham triple necro double fleshcraft each
Yeah that sounds toxic AF.
175 stat is about 10% more damage/healing.
40% more versatility on 30% vers would be 12% more damage/healing. At 40% vers that would 16% more damage/healing.
So the new trinket bonus isn’t quite as big a boost to throughput as the old trinket bonus.
But it’s still substantial.
And you get 350 stamina which is 7k more health (20 health per stamina).
Is 7-8k health not just 1 more hit if that?
It depends mostly on the versatility you have. While it is currently nearly the same, it will get less with better itemlevel. Because when the upgrade gives you another, lets say 200 main stats, the 175 main stat will become a ~9.25% dmg buff instead of the 10%+.
But when the versatility would went from 35% to, lets say 38% with full gear, it would have been a 11%+ damage buff. So you will actually drop damage compared to now. At least those who favors versatility, which would be most PvPer I guess. Not much, but you will feel it.
This change does in fact allow PvE gear to be at least viable - depending on their item level etc. that gear might become even better than PvP gear, since other secondary stats might do more damage now and you find a better stat combination for your spec.
The only good change about the bonus now is, that defense significantly increased. People have a bigger hp pool and less damage (in PvP only gear), which makes the oneshots a little bit less scary.
That highly depends on the trinkets. If they can compensate 8-10% passive more damage and are stronger than the defense of 7000 HP, which will be ~10% bigger hp pools with full gear, they might become viable. Or for classes that are tanky enough without.
Lets just hope they still keep an eye on it to maybe nerf pve gear if its needed.
