?? Kul tirans got an entire new rig that actually delayed the release of zandalari trolls. They definitely put effort into kul tirans, much more than they were planning on doing when they initially made allied races. Whether you like the way they look or not can’t you at least appreciate they tried?
Hardly a victim complex when the Alliance’s overall opinion has been dying since Wrath. Losing player numbers, content isn’t as well developed, Mechagnomes…
Let’s not act like they’re in a good spot right now, as BFA’s ending and the lack of any interesting development. They always develop something interesting, but fail to deliver on it. The Alliance achieved very little and the pay-off is even more disappointing. How Tyrande and the Night Elves only got a patch despite being the first victims of this expansion.
The Horde still didn’t feel like the Alliance was a threat. Our war campaign is kicking the Alliance left and right, while somehow the narrative telling us we’re losing.
I’m sure this is why they Advertised the Kul’tirans in all the promo material, right?
Oh this is probably why they had announced them since the beginning of the expansion. Because they we’re so proud of their effort.
Except they Didn’t.
Originally the Kul’Tirans were not going to be an Allied race, they we’re just going to be Town and Quest NPC’s… Which is why they have less than half the total animations of most race.
From Blizzards OG promo material you can see that the Dark Iron Dwarves we’re going to be the counter part to the Zandalari Trolls. This makes much more sense considering Trolls and Dwarves are both the “Best friend” race to Orcs and Humans.
If the Kultiran’s legitmately took time and development effort, I would ASSUME Blizzard would have advertised them alongside the other Allied races.
No. They don’t get an A for Effort, for throwing the Alliance some scraps they had left over from making Quest NPCs.
Kul’tirans are the second least played race in the game. Second only to Mechagnomes.
and the devs said blood elves are evolved night elves. it makes perfect sense that as our elves evolve, they simultaneously devolve.
Well, I guess theres no pleasing someone who doesn’t want to be happy.
There absolutely is. If I was the one in charge, I wouldn’t have added 10 new races in one expansion without removing faction barriers first.
If you add that many new races, you are going to have unhappy customers that want what the other side got.
If they had reasonable forsight at all, They could’ve decided now was the time to allow Cross faction PvE before releasing 10 races in 1 expansion. That way people can race change to whatever they want without any real consequence.
This is a pretty easy conclusion to come to, but once again. I’m 90% sure blizzard didn’t do it because Faction Transfers make them money.
But The Kul’tirans honestly feel like the logical conclusion of all the creative directors sitting in a meeting room, thinking. “Well what do we give to the Alliance. I’ve got it. Humans! That’s what they like right? Humans and Horses?”
Not Unhappy for the sake of unhappiness. I’m unhappy due to Blizzards poor decision making.
Cool, but literally all other parts of your post just make me think it is to a larger extent.
I’d ask for proof or statistical evidence, but i think it’s better for ME to just smile and nod in this scenario.
Admittedly, After Wrath of the Lich King is when the Plot started to break down into the same pattern we have today.
Horde gets the main plot, full of conflict and strife, while the Alliance gets a minor B plot and follows the Horde around for the rest of the Xpac.
I’m not saying the stories we got since then are worse, but they are certainly less Alliance centered. From that moment forward, the Horde are the Main characters.
That’s not a bad thing, Blizzard just needs to Acknowledge it.
(Commentary): Unfortunately, no. I wouldn’t say they, “put effort,” into Kul Tirans at all. They were Quest NPC models that were repurposed to be a playable race, ignoring actual Allied Race requests in the process. I think that is, perhaps, Blizzard’s biggest offense when it comes to Allied Races for the Alliance. People said what they wanted, and Blizzard seemingly went out of their way to give them everything but that.
(Commentary): Also, let’s not pretend for a moment that the folks at Blizzard are so creatively bankrupt that they couldn’t have added a race to Kul Tiras somewhere to be an Allied Race down the line. Imagine for a moment a race based off of the Gnome rig, of Otter people? Seems like a race that might be at home in a place like Stormsong. I imagine they’d have a much more interesting mount option than a horse as well. It’d fit the naval themes of Kul Tiras pretty nicely too. They could’ve made for a fine counterpoint to Vulpera. Not that I’m displeased with Mechagnomes, but I won’t say that Mechagnomes weren’t dead on arrival to all but a handful of us Alliance players.
I don’t think Anduin and Wrathion are at that step in their relationship yet.
M F ing T R U T H
Cries in not-Sethrak.
(Commentary): A fine point, actually. There could’ve been some Sethrak in Kul Tiras. Why not? Maybe a variant that lived and evolved in the forests of Drustvar?
So what you are saying is they’d have druids? As a class option.
I really don’t get this whole “lets remove faction barriers” thing. Sure we’ve worked together in the past, the same way several countries have worked together in the past in the real world, only to immediately backstab each other before the dust has even settled. The Horde and Alliance work together occasionally, and even then most of the time its grudgingly. The factions suddenly deciding: yeah i’d love to hang out in org/stormwind with all those guys who killed my parents 30 yrs ago is contrary to anything even remotely realistic. Blizzard hasn’t given cross faction play like that because it destroys any semblance of a narrative at all. And no, you not liking how the story goes is not an excuse for them to trash it all.
Wrathion is in love with Anduin … can’t wait for the black dragons ^^
Ya but the alliance has two unique things on there side that if used actually makes them the winner of any future war.
can we get mini dragon people from 3-5e kobolds. not the rat people we have right now
It gets a little silly after the 15th time.
When did i say that? Please contain your hyperbole.
I didn’t say anything about Allowing horde into Alliance cities or Vise Versa.
I want our characters to be able to put side their differences and work together. Begrudgingly. Just like all the significant lore characters do.
I see no reason I shouldn’t be able to run Mythic Plus dungeons or Raid with my friends, If my character could reasonably put aside their differences in order to do it. For a more direct example. It’s kind of rediculous that a Night Elf and an Orc cant work together to clear the Wailing Caverns, considering they both want to save kalimdor.
I just want the game to reflect the universe. And in the universe, as you said. We team up begrudgingly.
And if I happen to enjoy playing with my friends who Like Horde races, then more power to me.
The factions should only exist where they matter.
Cities, PvP, faction specific quests and transmog. These are all good things.
But Applying those same factions to PvE content? something that is STRICTLY cooperative, makes no sense at all.
Yeah, there’s a reason for that… they really lack in the customization department (and transmogs look awful on both races). I finally hit 110 on my KT and I was not impressed with the heritage armor. I really wish we could have gotten long coats on them and a decent pair of shoulders. I stopped playing my KT as soon as he ding’d 110. I won’t play, or even create a mechagnome because diapers.
But the Dark Iron though… they’re really growing on me. Hit 51 this morning. Going to keep pushing through on that one as I find they’ve rekindled my love of dwarves.
