New Players/New PvPers <3

Don’t be scared to ask questions about pvp and bg’s! Please take the time to understand the objective of each bg… otherwise when one person gives up it starts a domino effect that ruins the match for everyone else on your team. Granted some are just unwinnable due to gear/exp matchups, I understand. If your team is losing in the first 60 seconds of a match, please don’t give up for the rest of the match and just type throughout the whole game when the team needs you! Not sure if bliz has implemented a way for new players to learn about/understand rated bg/bgb game modes but there should definitely be a practice/non rated version of the rated bg differences vs regular bg’s or at the very least something in the adventure guide. Make PVP Great Again! All suggestions and tips are welcome!

0 comments on this thread. I hate to say it but there are ACTUALLY 0 new players and even LESS new PVPers. This game doesn’t attract new players at all. Its a boomer game and this will probably never change because new Blizzard is really horrendous at their jobs.

They exist, but I can guarantee that they don’t read the forums, look up any guides or do even any minimal effort research on the game.

Blizzard didn’t implement it, but I believe that it is called GOOGLE.

This game has no new players coming to pvp.

Its just us long term players clinging on to the best option for mmorpg pvp.

Once i finish this timewalking stuff ill probably be back fulltime to other games myself. The expansion has been great so far but i wouldnt wish the QOL a wow pvper experiences on anyone, especially an innocent new player.

WoW just isn’t kind to new players. Too much information.

To be fair I dont give my money to any company with poor customer service and the concern for us shows with the fact you cant even send a ticket to ask for help from a GM anymore it seems.

Before we even graze my pvp complaints I’d start there.

so are the players i see in bgs under honor level 30 all veterans on new accounts?

there also has to be a “want” to learn. in a WG a few days ago when i pointed out gliders are 7 seconds faster to the flag before the bg started and pointed out the npc to buy them and a total of 2 players used them. in games like that i stop trying to win and revert to “troll tf out of this team”.

I feel ya, one can hope though. Also you can still put in a ticket and talk to a GM… can’t disagree that they don’t help anywhere near as much as the past and it takes 3+ days for them to get back to you.

Almost feel like there needs to be a new bg mode for new players or new to pvp with 0 premades, gear is capped at honor level gear, and (flame away at this) unqueuable if you have an arena rating. Getting rolled by players in arena gear as your introduction to pvp makes you want to shelve the game mode entirely right off the bat.

i was new to retail with tww, started at the end of s4 df, pushed all the way to 2179 in shuffle and around 2k in blitz. the queues are too long, the imbalance is felt and i dc’d when i was already on a losing streak and lost a bunch of rating. after a couple months of playing it, its just not for me.

the pvp population just feels small and theres a lot of really good players with alts that when they reach a certain point on their main they get on and dominate brackets they shouldnt be in.

I downloaded all the addons and weak auras, copied really good players ui and it helped but, its over the top. at the end of the day id rather just stick to my mobas. For someone reason even with more playable character options they just feel more balanced and skill based. not saying wow doesnt take skill it take a ton of skill but, theres a lot more wtf moments and for pvp that just doesnt feel good.

Overall i enjoyed it but something about it really lacks when it comes to scratching a competitive itch. me and 2 of my buds are all already done, i was the last hold out.

Personally, id like to see addons and weakauras banned in pvp and matchups that arent completely oppressive.

a tad bit bummed because I was really looking forward to it.

Not really sure why I could not create my own topic, but my biggest dismay this xpac has been the sheer amount of timesink that is required to be competitive in PVP. I thought Blizzard turned a new page and was going to respect our time for a change. At least that was the media talking point that every gaming media outlet made sure to tell us all about. It takes countless hours to grind honor, bloody tokens and conquest points. Then the gold grind to make sure you can afford the best enchants. God help you if you fall even a little bit behind the curve. Love ending up in matches where the priest and shaman have more health than my warrior. And then there are the abhorrent queue times. Thirty minutes times minimum for blitz and shuffle. Just an insane time commitment and I guess I was naive enough to believe that maybe Blizzard could change for the better.

If you pvp, hopefully you do it because you enjoy pvp. If you enjoy pvping often, you will, and the currency to buy gear will come. If we are talking alt gearing, earn the honor on your main, then log on your alt and transfer it, instant full honor set for the character you didnt need to pvp on. I dont enchant honor gear on alts or fear being behind on conquest gear on them, my time is limited. Capping conquest on an alt you didnt play the first 6 weeks might take 6 long and successful play sessions, maybe the timegating is content?
People like me LOVE earning a player power upgrade. So for an alt I could have many gear upgrades earned on a day off so I get many more dopamine dumps per day for an alt than the conquest capped main.

If we are talking about main character gearing, just start the grind at season launch, so the weekly grind can be one day per week, capping conquest for the week I do in the first few hours I get to play after reset. I’ve got no magical secret for enchant costs or gem socket costs if you dont want to earn the honor to buy sockets, but I work too hard IRL and too many hours so I have disposable income for wow tokens.

My Solo BG queue times likely average 10 min. Sometimes 2 min, sometimes 36min no pop, cancel and restart queue and then it is 6 min. Who knows why queue times vary so wildly within the same hour.

This is a cool sentiment but WoW PvP will be dead in 2-3 years. There is already next to no new players/PvPer’s and most that do try get scared off by premades in epics and play PvE. The only ones who remain are those who have done it for a long time unable to move on. I personally find myself jumping between WoW and other games constantly with year long breaks

No it wont lol. People have been calling pvp dead for close to a decade now “muh wod killed wow pvp” I remember that vividly i played throught those times.

I left sometime during Dragonflight which at the time, I thought the PVP population was already low. But after returning for the anniversary in TWW, it feels like the situation has only gotten worse.

To be honest, one of the biggest challenges for returning or newer player is the lack of supportive PVPers willing to help. Some of us learn best by jumping into the game and playing, rather than spending hours researching outside of it. The amount of information can be overwhelming, especially if you’re new to PVP or World of Warcraft in general.

Instead of receiving guidance or encouragement, when we join battlegrounds, we’re often told we’re not supposed to be there. If we ask questions in chat, there’s complete silence, or we get trolled. Many players even recommend turning off chat if we don’t want to see the negativity or capitalized rants. Even here on the forums, I see posts complaining about players like us, those with green honor gear just starting, or casual players just trying to enjoy PVP.

For example, in my 6th game of Blitz, I was immediately told to stop playing because my green honor gear was supposedly ruining the game for the team. After winning a few games, I was suddenly thrown into matches with players in the 1600-1700 CR range. The whole match was a disaster. An enemy rogue camped me relentlessly, and I hardly ever made it out of the graveyard. My teammates just complained about my performance on the chart. I wonder if I ended up in a “win-trading” or “RMT” game, as I spent most of the match watching the map while waiting to rez. I noticed the enemy flag carrier moving across the map without any resistance, making it feel like my team had no chance from the start or pre-planned.

There is definitely a much lower population of PVP players and us casuals are noticing the unwelcoming environment in Blitz. Beyond that, regular BGs often turn into graveyard camping, which isn’t fun for anyone. Epic BGs could be where casuals thrive, but it’s frustrating when you wait so long to get into one, only to have it end in under 10 minutes. Many players even give up within the first 5 minutes of entering. Korrak’s Revenge is one of the few modes that feels more fun, since NPCs are buffed up, but even then, players get upset if you’re trying to turn in quests to buff your team or release NPCs or burn towers. It seems like they just want you to give up and farm honor instead.

I might be in the minority here, but given the current state of things, even returning players who enjoy PVP aren’t likely to stick around for long. Also, in my opinion, TWW expansion isn’t even all that. So, if you’re not enjoying the expansion, you’re likely not going to stick around or get to the PVP stuff.

New players in pvp, gotta be a tremendous learning curve, probably repels new players.

New player:

Joins placement game, 30 minute wait to play against premade multiglad multihero 10+ year boosters while teammates yell at them

Either never PVPs again OR buys a boost and then never PVPs again

There’s probably only like 1000 people that do rated PVP and you’re just fighting each other’s alts/alt accounts over and over

Yes. They have to gear with honor/conquest from bgs to get enough ilevel to enter Blitz/Shuffles to begin the boost/wintrade.
