everyone can participate in m+, because you can literally get your own key. and by participating in M+, you’re participating in getting gear. and if you don’t want to do m+ that’s perfectly fine, but what else are you using gear for besides raiding (which ties into m+)
Yeah this has been an issue for a while now, since Legion at least. A new player coming in toward the end of an expansion is going to struggle. There are so many things to do and the game doesn’t tell you anything really. Many times there would be newer players in our guild that had no idea what to do because they were overwhelmed and often doing pointless things that lead to nothing(especially in BfA).

I suppose you’re misunderstanding.
My personal issue here isn’t how much effort it takes to “catch up.” This is the first patch I feel like I have a real reason to play an alt, because LFR is valuable end-game for me again. It’s nice. I really enjoy it.
But I do sympathize for players who came back for the FOMO slime cat mount and will likely get barred from getting it due to the requirements set by both the game and players.
Hopefully this person’s friend can dump days into the game most people don’t have to rush to the acceptable bar of entry before these groups are harder to find.
I hate FOMO stuff for this specific reason. I’d rather nobody feel like they have to rush to get geared up, because then the game will start to become based around it again.

Run a mythic 0 (manually enter the dungeon on “mythic” difficulty, run it just like you would any other dungeon) and a key drops at the end. Alternatively, you can get a key from the NPC standing near the guild bank in Oribos. (I think. There’s a chance you may need to have run a mythic 0 to get this; information on the forums seems conflicting, and since I’ve already run m0s, I can’t test it.)
I get that. Although I can go back and get 90% of the mounts people got from said content, shy of the AOTC achievement ones.
But when the overall feeling is “it’s too hard to get into [raid group]” then they will eventually, for whatever reason, make it easier to get into that content instead of just letting it exist past a certain date.
I hate catch-up mechanics in a MMO. It undermines every bit of content that came before the new stuff. But they become mandatory with the game’s reward structure lately. This season needed better ones or it needed easier ways to get that mount. IDK why it wasn’t just tied to a boss kill like the friendship moose.

I get that, but I’m actuality you always pay for content updates. Either through a sub fee, or outright purchases. Plus, 200 gems per episode really isn’t that bad of a deal, as that equals about 2.50$.
