So I have a co-worker that recently started playing the game after being away since Wrath the amount of stuff you need to do in Shadowlands season 4 to Catch up is crazy for a new player that hasn’t done anything this expansion yet. THoughts?

Eh, its pretty minimal for the genre.
Do a few quick campaigns, maybe some torghast for legendary which is easy now. Then off to dungeons or pvp.

Not true at all.
A level 60 can get caught up in a day minus the the second legendary.
But you get a lower ilvl version for free for the same less than a day work.
And the stat difference isnt that big.
Its the effect you want and you have it.
A new player should have zero problems in this patch

They can easily do all the prerequisites in a few hours
No you cant lolol it’s the entire normal campaign and half the korthia campaign and then the zm campaign

Umm… the normal covenant campaign takes 2 hours and the korthia one takes 1.5 hours.
Given they are starting at the very tail end of an expansion, it’s probably should be expected to a degree. Honestly, I it’s not that hard for them to get to the point where they are good enough for anything but mythic raids.

This is a problem every expansion. They make lots of catch up for alts, but new players must do almost everything that those alts get to skip. And there’s no central location to find out exactly what you need to do as a new or returning player, so most players who have already forgotten how the changes affect different players give incorrect advice.

Your wrong I literally just did it with my bff and it took us a total of six hours for normal campaign and two for korthia and thats where he stopped for now so that was four play sessions

this is such an important point. I don’t think new players should have an auto-skip to get to the point where the rest of us are, but I do think it’s very overwhelming to come in at the end of a tier or expansion and try to navigate the systems through catch ups, things that changed, etc.
heck, I’m a veteran player and I absolutely hate bringing a new alt up at the end of a tier and trying to get everything done because I forget where I did X or picked up Y and there’s no one concise source of information.

Look if you want to reduce something that is easily done in under 10 hours. Very easily done in under 10 hours. Down even further… in an mmo

Play a different genre because clearly doing the most basic of tasks is beyond your attention span.
