New player here, need some help ^_^

Hello, just downloaded this game over Christmas and it’s pretty fun. I started as a Panda mage because Panda’s are cute :3. What are some ways I can do more damage? Right now I’m a cold mage, but everytime I join a dungeon group I’m supposedly not doing as much damage as everyone else (how are they even checking that?)

Also, what are some good gear I should get? I’m currently leveling in the jungles of Stranglethorn Vale. I would like to get more of the blue and purple items, but not sure how. Also, what level can I start these raids? They look amazing :open_mouth:

I’m a girl, please excuse my newbness and be nice

You can find guides to better understand your class and how to play it on sites like Icy Veins and Wowhead. Just Google “frost mage guide” or something and it should pop up. There’s a lot of info on these guides, so it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Icy Veins guides have a good “easy mode” section that should cover the basics for you.

Raids are available at various levels, but you’ll need to be level 60 for current raids because most people don’t run old ones.

Welcome to the game!

Thank you sir.

What’s the first raid I should aim to start? I’m excited.

At level 60, the first one you can do is Castle Nathria. You’ll need a certain item level to be able to queue for it in LFR (hit I, then Raids on the left). The current raid is Sanctum of Domination, which will need an even higher item level to queue for.

You claim you don’t know how people know your damage, yet you are a multi-CE player. Seems suspicious. Did you buy this account? Lul

I’m sorry you chose to play this game.

I can only imagine this threads purpose is some kind of role play.

I bought the game from Gamestop

I don’t know what multi CE player means. Is that a mage ability?

Wowhead is going to be a valuable resource for research. You’ll need to do a lot of research. The gear is very unintuitive. Also my YouTube beginner guides will be a big help.

Pretty cringe dude

This is actually great advice. I barely play any alts so when I do, I generally have no idea what I’m doing. The info on icyveins is waaay too in depth and usually focuses on raids and higher end play. But that easy mode section is amazing for just getting the basics to help you with getting through the day to day questing and open world play. Then once you get the hang of it, there’s tons of good info that will help you maximize your potential.

Welcome to WoW and glad you are enjoying!

I main mage and don’t let those in dungeons who do higher dps get to you. They are likely using these items called Heirlooms or have purchased top leveling gear from the AH but likely Heirlooms. I don’t believe you have access to this gear until you have 1 character hit max level I believe. Not 100% sure as that system has changed a few times.

I honestly wouldn’t worry about gear leveling as you will outlevel the gear quickly. I would wait until you are 60 and then work on you class table and Covenant stuff as the table will offer better gear. Otherwise, dungeons will give you better gear than quest reward gear so if you want better now then I would do those or check the Auction House for intellect gear. Either a staff or one hand and off hand. But intellect is you best stat for a mage and then secondary I wouldn’t worry about until you are 60.

Hope this helps some and if you need anything holler!
