Lol, I don’t know how more people didn’t see this thread for what it is but bravo.
Well played sir.

Well played sir.
I appreciate it!
It is in part because for some reason I got a Oneazerothtv video on my youtube recommendations. It looked like tons of fun to do what he did, so I used that. There are still things I feel goofy on, like Vortex Pinnacle is a bit scary for me (the addons help on that dragon boss), and I am hesitant to do timewalking dungeons because I was in court of stars and was a bit confused (and this was a circumstance where people weren’t very nice.)
I appreciate everyone’s advice and shared experiences. I’ll probably just make some new characters and level them up for now!
Well i mean try running your own keys , since your a healer it will fill up fast… when you join other peoples key and for some reason they dont like your performance or if key gets broken you gonna get some hate , if you run your own key people are usually more chill since its your group
Not exactly sure what the implication is here?
I’m a school slp that specializes in low frequency genetic disorders. The kids can be a lot, but the parents and administrators can be a headache and a half more. It is a wildly stressful job and between all of the legwork I have put in to participate in these dungeons, reading guides, installing addons, fighting to get half way decent, it is starting to feel like a second job. That’s about all I meant by the above!
Pugging is a huge mixed bag of some of the best and worst people you’ll ever meet. You’re doing great for only playing a month, and with just a little extra effort you’ll find a static group that appreciate that.
Hardest mechanic in the game is networking, but it’s the most rewarding.
I’m impressed with your progress, OP. My highest M+ this expansion is 5. Mind you, gearing and pushing keys have never been a huge priority for me, but still, that is quite a journey that you made in just a month.
My motivation for playing has been pretty constant since the tail end of BC when I first joined; explore the lore and the world of Warcraft. It helped that I came from the RTS games.
What I do in the game is try to complete virtually every quest, do many of the achievements, especially in the exploration and questing categories. I run every dungeon and every raid at at least one level of difficulty and level professions in all expansions on most of my toons.
Based on what your immediate goals were, I’m not sure that this would appeal to you.
Regardless, I’d encourage you to keep playing as long as you think you’ll find it enjoyable.
You’ll probably have an easier time finding people to play with at the beginning of next season. If you get at it quick you can leapfrog during the first couple weeks, right now as you get out of the lowest key range you encounter the worst players, and it doesnt get better for a long while (above 20).
You can probably clear normal raid and get some gear then try the mega dungeon. After that the mega dungeon and norma/heroic raids should be a decent weekly time sink until next season where you can get in on a fresh m+ gearing season
WoWs community is extremely toxic and the devs haven’t exactly helped with that tbh I’d suggest following in your wifes footsteps quitting before you have too many reasons to stay ![]()
I will say, upon further reflection on all of the effort I have put into this and the fact that I am having to compromise my play style to adapt to the game, I think you may be on to something, Rasari. I may just go ahead adn put on my walking shoes!
I do still appreciate everyone’s advice, though! I have seen folks mention the whole “Can I have your gold?” thing, so I I’ll pony up! I don’t have much, but I’ll send it to one of you who were kind enough to reply!
Edit: Gold has been sent to Jarvis from above, because he is Moon Guard brethren! Be well, all of you!
Don’t, it’s just a 20-year-old meme for “I’m unsubbing” comments :b
It’s great to see you catch on and adapt. I can confidently say as an addicted player that the single hardest part about WoW is finding a circle of friend to consistently play with. The single most important thing in this game is the amount of fun you’re having. So, always do what maximizes your fun in the long run.
You joined mid-season and are playing mid-season content. A lot of raiding guilds are going to start recruiting again for the next raid tier. I recommend finding a raiding guild because those tend to be groups of friends.
The entire point is networking. Build your network, develop friendships. And importantly, don’t let anyone decide if you’re going to have a good time – ignore those toxic players and recognize that they’re the exception, not the norm.
For reference, I’m in a Classic WoW guild where I play MAYBE a few times per patch. I still feel warmly welcomed when I play with “the bois”. They’ve been around since 2019 when Classic spun up. Find a group of players like that and never let them go!
The reality is that the mythic plus pug community is very toxic. You won’t change that unfortunately. Like others have said, one way to avoid it is finding a guild through trade chat or lfg.
This is your major obstacle.
Unless you’re willing to move to a different, more populated server, you’re going to struggle.
I’ve transferred servers several times for the same reason. It feels tough at first, but it’s worth doing if you can’t find groups where you are now.
Yeah, there’s a lot of cross-realm stuff, but having a solid guild where people are actively doing stuff you want to do is more important than people often let on.
That’s a lot of word salad. Specializing in some special education.
That’s a lot of dressing on the word salad and kids in special needs.
That’s a lotta. Lotta. Your work is not equal to stress relief in these games. You smash pixels at a level you like or you PUSH per you perogative.
^ This right here is how the M+ community changes it’s stereotype.
Thank you for helping this player Marshbanks.
edit:
and Sambooki deserves a thumbs up aswell.
Unless you already have friends in the game this community isn’t very welcoming. I recommend passing on it.
I solo and do open world group events like the Researchers in ZC (which always has groups listed in the group finder under Custom), and Time Rifts which have enough people showing up. Both of those are too fast for anyone to have time for toxicity.
I try to stay away from pugs…
I have a dear friend who does that, and I know exactly what it entails. I’m in awe of your work, and what you have to deal with! I just wish I could get her interested in WoW!
Don’t touch mythic plus until you get into a guild.
Playing with the wife is 10,000x better than the gear that comes out of M+. Play with her and have way more fun than the cesspool that is M+.
With luck, M+ will be removed from the game and wow will go back to being a RPG.
Just do higher keys.
And if it’s something that you enjoy doing, just ignore the haters.
Also, you don’t need to turn off chat, you can turn off whispers. Nearly nothing is productive from whispers within an m+ run.
