Omg, a whip snake they’re harmless.
Forbidden Spaghetti Noddle.
Hey, at least it’s not in your house!
Looks like my neighborhood a swamp this is what I have to time and time again cut .It takes forever to tame.
We have a lot of little lizards too
I assume the snakes hunt those as well
Call animal control and not the forum patrol lol
It’s a black racer. Nothing to worry about.
Agreed.
As a Utahn resident, looks like a baby King - pretty certain I see the markings.
Congrats on the new pet
I had a dog growing up. 1/4 Akita, 1/4 samoyed, 1/2 lab. He would kill the opossums and leave em on our porch as gifts.
You need a good dog.
That’s a black rat snake, their common in NC.
EDIT: Their pretty docile if you wanna try to pick it up, just make sure to secure the head is all. Used to have to catch and move them all the time in my grandma’s garage, live in NC too.
That’s a King Cobra… only approach it with a woven basket and a flute.
There’s a place in France…
I’m in western North Carolina, and usually don’t see snakes up here in the mountains until summer. It has a round head so it most likely isn’t poisonous. I think it is a variety of rat snake or king snake.
Where in Utah do you have king snakes? I’ve never seen one in St George…though I imagine they’d love the quail.
Omg, he looks so cute but I bet he can eat you.
I’m in NC too and we just call them black snakes. A water moccasin would have chased you away. I suggest you check your attic for molted skins. It is not unusual for snakes to stay up there as it is warm and safe. I have seen some attics with snake skins all over the place.
(just the thing you want to hear I bet)
No, no. The opossums are good for pest control as well.
I live at a lake resort area and we get mice and roach’s (the insect kind) and a huge number of mosquito’s because of the lake. We haven’t had the roach problem but the other things yes. No longer near us though since the Opossums took up residence.
They don’t harm anything. They leave us alone and vice versa. No worries about rabies and are immune to snake venom. We have snakes here as well.
Also they are cute,lol
It’s just a black snake, you are fine. Leave it be, it can kill the bad snakes.
King snakes are more stripy, but they are also good snakes.
I wish. Had 20 acre ranch in Sonoran desert for 20 years before 2009 crash.
Kinda liked our rattlesnakes, but though they kept the pack rats at bay they didn’t stop the lizards from eating the lettuce in my garden. Sniff!
Fred is a good boi
