I live in coastal southern NC, what is it.

That’s as close as I wanted to get to it’s head. It’s about 2 feet long.

I suggest looking it up on Google.

Looks like a rat snake from what I can see. They’re helpful little buggers. They eat pests.

Probably looking for rodents or eggs. If there aren’t any, it will leave. Doesn’t look dangerous at first glance. Just give it space.

Just a friendly little garden snek. Not venomous.

Do you guys get poisonous snakes there?
I spoke to some guys that specialize in snakes here, and they told me I’m better off leaving the gopher snake in my yard because it will eat everything a rattlesnake would, basically keeping rattlesnake away.

Neat! I’m going to also say rat snake.

They’re harmless to you, and help keep your yard free of vermin.

Awesome will let the little guy keep the yard free of pests.

We call them black snakes. They aren’t poisonous and they eat mice, which is good.

Oh there would be no problem on the “giving it space”.

Looks like a black rat snake…

I live in NC as well, and they’re not harmful. They’re actually quite helpful.

Check out this place for a some good points on them. Just remember to always stay safe around snakes of any variety.

Grew up with king snakes in my yard. They are like gopher snakes and eat everything a rattlesnake will. But they will also eat the rattlesnakes.

Yeah, apparently ppl here will buy gopher snakes from you and put them in their yard to prevent rattlesnakes.

Damn, you all have snakes eating up all your pests.

I have a family of Opossums. Had a baby in my house once. I looked up on the end table and there it sat.

We were remodeling the bathroom and with the tub gone it left a hole where pipe comes up through floor. The snoops came in through hole and were investigating. There were
3 of them. The other 2 were in the kitchen eating cat food.
