New person to wow

Then the best option is to do ilvl appropriate content. you could get a number of 400 ilvl items from the AH. work on getting their world quests unlocked. do the main story line stuff with them. do normal dungeons.

Same applies ,if he were here most people that play warrior would help better in person.

That’s true, but I thought I’d at least try and help

Good time to learn I didn’t learn it overnight either.

My counterpoint is that newer dungeons in XIV don’t feel like experiences like wow dungeons do. The Motherlode, Underrot, Atal’dazar, Waycrest Manor, Freehold, King’s Rest and Shrine of the Storm are all epic experiences in my mind, the dungeons feel like you’re engaging in some good old fashioned D&D type dungeon delve.

Shadow fingers dungeons in comparison lack that epic feeling, to me at least. I was literally falling asleep in Malikahs well and Holminster Switch. The trash adds to the ambiance in wow, the trash is just there because you need to pace the dungeon in XIV

Take Shrine or Motherlode. Neither would be the same if not for all the cultists and goblins everywhere. Fighting 10 trash goblinsthen a boss wouldn’t give Motherlode that same feeling

I do feel that boosting as a new player is a mistake, because that’s a surefire way for them to become overwhelmed, but I suppose that’s neither here nor there.

I would suggest maybe setting him up with some user friendly addons such as DBM. That may help him feel a bit less overwhelmed in dungeons and raids, or even some open world stuff.

Until then I would suggest giving him some time to process everything on his plate so he can choose where to focus his efforts.

I actually helped him with some addons

Yet no one in my experience treats them as such. Almost all WoW players rush though the dungeons because they just want the gear and get out.

Awe bless!

I think it’s very cute you’re both playing, hope it works out!

Good luck!

I’m sorry to hear about your experiences. I can understand at least why some people want to rush them to upgrade their keys though, but it can make the runs a bit stressful.

This is a little off topic but I can’t stand how much trash there is in dungeons I absolutely hate trash :joy:

Seems his best option for now would be opening his quest log with you in party
hitting Party Sync and you two go on an adventure. I can typically drag my friends kicking and screaming through BfA’s story quests in about 2hrs, all the way up to Zandalar Forever! scenario.

He can do heroics for 415 gear and then head off for Nazjatar? Maybe try to stack the odds in his favor and get friends in the same armor type to fill the party and trade the gear off.

Wow.

And here I thought we were getting along

Oh no I’m sorry :sob::sob:

I don’t think so. I think tyrannical is more fun. However, I prefer dungeons where the question is whether you can get through at all, rather than just how fast you can do it. The people trying to push their keys past 25 don’t seem to think that way.

Never, under any circumstances, buy gear from a vendor.

It’s all garbage and questing will give you way better gear anyways.

I prefer tyrannical too because bosses melt pretty fast with good players, but it honestly won’t matter in SL. Were getting AOE limited to 5-8 mobs MAX, and to add further insult to injury, the shadowland dungeons are reported to have more trash then old dungeons we’ve had. Enjoy fortified+tyrannical in SL! Because it’s not bad enough to have 1 or the other anymore.

Thank you!!!

I honestly can’t figure out how to turn it on :sob:

Very true, I guess for me who’s max key is an 18 I just prefer tyrannical. It might change though as I push 20+ keys

Also did you buy your stuff from a vendor or from the ah? I’m a bit confused.

How about the ah?

Oh nooo Im gonna cry :sob:

but transmog~

questing scales. but yeah, if you do know how things work you can gear up very easy
 OMG i just remembered

Hay its Time walking! thats a great way to gear up and not be under geared. (or over geared.) 415 base ilvl and make sure you take the quest
you get a “free” normal raid item.

I’ll repeat what others have said here to reinforce because it’s so true
,

Start at lvl 1.

Both of you make lvl 1 characters, think of them as training characters and just use them to play together.

It’s important because abilities are introduced slowly, and one has time to get used to them. More important abilities introduced first
you learn the basics of class before adding on more abilities and options.

At lvl 15-16 you can just queue dungeons
make sure you both have full sets of heirlooms, do not worry about gearing

By lvl 60 you’ll have enough experience you may decide to go back to your boosted characters
or maybe keep going to lvl 90-100
don’t have to go all way to 120 if you just wanted real gameplay experience
but by then you may have grown attached to these characters from all the experiences you shared
and decide to make them your main characters

Honestly the reason why I had him boost was because I haven’t played older content so I didn’t feel too confident playing it
