Won’t run shadowlands OP. It needs computer from Nasa
thats not worth the asking price, thats a $650-700 tops rig.
Definitely not short for RTX 2060. Ryzen 5 3600 sips power too.
256mb isn’t going to cover anything
windows 3.1 might work xD
This is bogus. The 1070 still properly holds its own even as a four year-old card. You would still want to invest in the 2060 to get access to current technology in RTX, but if you were just purely gaming the 1070 is still a solid choice.
No. 16GB is still perfectly fine for modern gaming, especially if you’re trying to save money. 32GB is only necessary right now if you’re doing other tasks such as video rendering and production.
Yes, but 16GB is still good even for future-proofing.
I have a Seasonic Focus Gold Plus 850w
I also have an overclocked 5ghz 8700k at 1.37v, and at one point an overclocked +50% power limit Vega 64. With three displays, all peripherals, and both CPU and GPU under full synthetic load, it never went above 620w as measured by a kilowatt meter.
In reality, once you subtract the peripherals off the strip, it was probably closer to 550w.
And both the CPU and GPU in this system are far more efficient than mine.
550w is plenty, and even with Nvidia 3000 claims of needing an 800w psu, keep in mind, my Vega 64 said I needed a 750w PSU too.
The newer Corsair CX units are actually pretty good for what they are these days.
But either way, even if you have to pay an extra $100 on a quality PSU…its still way less than the markup on GPUs and RAM from 2017.
Ryzen 2k is trash.
So listed watts isn’t 12V watts… the CX series tends to top out in the 300W range on delivered 12V power. This is because they tend to be made by Great Wall and are designed for older systems that use more 5V and 3.3 V. I’ve actually had one of that very series trigger an OCP fault on 12V because of that. Also remember that the listed rating isn’t necessarily the delivered rating at all times and temperatures. It’s more often than not a peak delivery not a continuous delivery number. Moreover AMD has had issues with their power drivers as late that cause their CPUs to occasionally draw more than intended, it’s something they are working on but haven’t fixed yet.
Id say hold out a few more months in that case and get the next series.
You don’t need 32 gigs dude, and WoW certainly doesn’t need it, super fast GPU’s do so much work now.
And adding RAM isn’t replacing your PC, but I’d suggest the OP put that money into another SSD and lose the HDD, will be a bigger upgrade than the extra 16 gigs of RAM.
Ram isn’t something you need to future proof quite like an Motherboard or something.
IIRC this is the 2015 and older units. The new 2017+ units are not group protected and are better units.
Seasonic Focus Plus have strong +12V rail.
I’d agree with this. I spent 2 grand to build a computer (well I bought all the parts and sort of helped my brother put it together) a few months before WoD released and it’s still fine for me. I’ve been debating going for a new computer and last I recalled RAM isn’t really the expensive part of the computer so kicking yourself up to 32GB really isn’t going to break your budget and if you do need it you got it, but you probably won’t anyways. That being said upgrading your RAM down the road isn’t that hard anyways so long as your motherboard supports it.
Generally speaking I think if your average consumer is buying a computer with recent hardware you’re going to be fine anyways.
Haha oops. Wait didn’t he say he was putting windows 95 on it??
Looks like you’re somewhat right but I stand by what I said still even if the newer units can allegedly deliver +12V@45.8A Those are peak numbers not sustained. That unit isn’t designed to sustain more than 330W.
See my above comment, even a Seasonic isn’t designed to run at 100% rating at all times. Nice though they might be, and they are very very nice.
I’m pretty sure I got a 1tb ssd for a decent price. Like other people said, better get one at least half that size, so you can install wow and windows on it. The loading screens are a fraction of the time on an ssd.
I think we can all agree that whatever we suggest, it will be better than the Chieftec PSU (or whatever trash) was used by the system builder that is trying to sell this guy.
Absolutely agree… that will struggle to put 30A on +12V if they are lucky.
GPU manufacturers usually recommends PSUs that is more than enough. RTX 2060 card alone consumes only around 170W.
We are not recommending RTX 2080 onwards.
I’ve been recommending PCs on other tech forums for more than 10 years and no one complains about it.
Also, Seasonic has new model. Focus GX.
