New Nelf Capital - Old Nelf Capital

The Highmountain Tauren actually have a lot of positive interactions with the Night Elves:

Holt Thunderhorn says: When the elves who founded the Unseen Path left Mount Hyjal to return to the Broken Isles the Highmountain tauren recognized the nobility of their cause and offered them friendship. It was the descendants of Huln Highmountain who led the Unseen Path to this peak.

Talonclaw, Spear of the Wild Gods, Part Two

Moren’s granddaughter Eruna was expected to become her tribe’s leader. But before she could believe herself worthy of this responsibility, she took the Eagle Spear with her on a pilgrimage, a rite of passage to prove herself. In the northern lands, she rushed to defend a family of night elves from a cabal of tentacled beings issuing forth from a vast cave, wielding sinister magic–servants of the Old Gods who slumbered in dark places but were now awakening. She was joined in the struggle by a mighty bear, who revealed himself as an Ancient named Ursoc. Together, Eruna and Ursoc drove the strange creatures away.

In the aftermath of Eruna Highmountain’s battle alongside Ursoc, the colossal bear took Eruna’s measure and judged her worthy. Ursoc told her that a great darkness was coming and that the world would need strong warriors and leaders like her to face it. To aid her, he blessed her spear, adding his might to its enchanted power. In gratitude, Eruna carved Ursoc’s name into the weapon, continuing the living story of the Eagle Spear, and returned to her people, ready to lead them.

Talonclaw, Spear of the Wild Gods, Part Three

Long after Eruna’s passing, the spear was handed down to Huln Highmountain. Facing a devastating invasion from the Burning Legion, Huln unified other tauren tribes under his banner to join the night elves in fighting the demons.

During one heated battle, Huln tried to protect the two-headed wolf Ancient, Omen, from the forces of the Legion, but the great beast was gravely wounded and poisoned with fel energy. Before he succumbed to demonic corruption, Omen gave his last breath of purity to the spear, adding to the powers that other Wild Gods had left therein. Huln placed the Ancient’s name on his spear so that his courage would always be remembered.

Talonclaw, Spear of the Wild Gods, Part Four

During the War of the Ancients, Huln fought alongside many warriors who would go on to become legends in their own right. Among them was the night elf Jarod Shadowsong, who saved Huln’s life from a demon attack in one of the last battles of the war. Huln carved their names into the Eagle Spear as well. He even crossed paths with the greatest of all druids, Malfurion Stormrage.

From legends related by the elders of the Highmountain tribe: “Huln handed the spear to the druid, who examined the weapon closely, remarking on the sharp, curved end fashioned to resemble the eagle’s beak, and on all the names carved into the shaft by the tauren and his ancestors. Malfurion communed with the spirits within, and approved.”

Talonclaw, Spear of the Wild Gods, Part Eight

From the journal of Arien Highmountain, describing her tribe’s encounter with an order of night elves called the Unseen Path:

“Gardrel and I led the night elves up the slopes of a nearby mountain. As we approached the summit, Talonclaw began to glow, emanating power. Instinctively, I held it up to the sky, and all were amazed–none more so than I–to see a cascade of golden energy pour from the spearhead and take the shape of a great eagle! But Gardrel and I remembered the lore of our tribe and realized that Ohn’ahra herself had blessed this site. At that very moment, we knew this sacred place should be renamed Talon Peak.”

It was only with the help of the Highmountain tribe that the hunters of the Unseen Path–who had come to the Broken Isles specifically to guard against the Legion–were able to build their new home, Trueshot Lodge. From the trio of towers known as the Three Talons, they watched over the land and vowed to be ready should the Burning Legion return. The elves and the tauren learned much from each other, and Arien eventually joined the Unseen Path, becoming one of its greatest members.

Yes they do.

What cinematic?

The war in which they participated.

Not really, Malfurion personally took Hamuul Runetotem under his tutelage and taught him the ways of the druid. The only reason Tauren can even be druids is because of Malfurion. Also, Jarod was quite popular among the resistance and was highly regarded by Ravencrest.

No, he only refused their aid due to dangerously conservative and xenophobic mindset established by the Kaldorei nobility and feared defection from his commanders.

That seems very hard to believe.

It’s pretty much laid out in that vissionquest where you live the story of Huln High mountain. For Jarod, Huln is pretty much an old drinking buddy. For Malfurion, it’s clear that he knew of Huln ony by reputation and that was their first meeting.

But that would mean that the devs actually somewhat cared about the Night elves which they confirmed in an interview that they don’t.

That’s a claim you have to source.

Made another thread about it

What’s the thread???

They outright stated that they prefer writing for the Horde as it has the more original races. The Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, are just that…elves and dwarves, races that have been done to death. And the Draenei apparantly don’t engage them that much, eiteher.

Well sure, but why do they state that night elves got their revenge when it’s not true? They could’ve atleast been honest and say that they didn’t get anything and won’t get anything.

Because they have a much lower bar for revenge than you do.

But there wasn’t revenge. They killed 1 horde character, the val’kyr. That’s it, no losses or anything for Sylvanas. How is it revenge?

And a bunch of Horde scrubs, a couple of bunches. The Val’kyr is a big loss since Sylvannas failed to secure the means to make more.

Like I said… lower bar.

The bar for retribution (forceful compensation) and revenge unlawful/unreasonable retaliation is set by God, adapted by society and through it: law.

By no standard has Tyrande, who is not the entirety of the Kaldorei people has had her retaliation, let alone the revenge of the Kaldorei population.

The devs said that Tyrande got HER revenge. They never said anyone else was getting anything more. The Kal’dorei got run over by history, from their point of view, whining about it is like complaining you got hit by an avalanche because you were in its path.

Hm let me think of a real life example. Assuming someone shoots you and makes you disabled for the rest of your life but you manage to get him caught and sentenced to 2 weeks in prison for that. Is it revenge then? Is it being even? It’s comparable with how the devs handled the teldrassil story.

Yes the night elves killed 1 val’kyr, but can it be considered revenge? Nope.

There’s no applicable court here. You are conflating what you want out of the story with the events of it. Sometimes you can’t have all the cake you deserve.

The Devs said that Tyrande got her revenge, not that it was all of the revenge she sought, or all just revenge… just alll the revenge she’s going to get. The new chapter of the Night Warrior was opened and closed… just like that. It may well be up to you the Champion to actaully seal the books when the expac ends… or in the next one.

Blizzard made the Teldrassil burning intentionally dramatic. They did all they could to make the event as dramatic as possible. They could’ve just burned down the tree without it being genocide. The point is: Why do they make it so dramatic if they don’t want to continue the story ?

Because they make poor choices. We know this. Is it worth it to you to stay subscribed when you know you won’t get what you want?

Because in this case, it was about getting people pumped up for the Warfront. They also wanted to get the sense that this was not going to be one of those occasions where the Alliance and Horde have a dust up, and then make up afterwards, that this would be a war that left permanent scars and changes.

And they were looking to prune a couple of capitals anyway.
