Never twisted a single word you said. For reference, I dont care if they did this or not. I was simply entertaining the idea it could have been a way to grab subs. They never had to add the rat to a subscription length.
I’m extremely economical. That’s what my whole argument has been: economics. I still think it’s better to play the utter crap out of this game for just one month–running goldfarming ops with 3 toons–and secure Squeakers well within the month. One Token being the cover charge from one toon, then two Tokens from the other two alts coming up with $30. The only catch is: you have to have exalted BFA reps with every toon you use. It’s still better than forking over $78 RL money AND being locked in for 6 months.
But alas, I am a gentleman goldfarmer by vocation, moonlighted as a WPvPer.
I think for me, it takes about 1 hour per toon to scrape the barrel on gold, PER DAY. 7 times three toons would be 21(hey, kinda like my first part-time job!). I think I overestimated it by mistake. I did a lot of WPvP alongside which bumped up my weekly averages.
People were asking for a flying rat mount for Chinese New Year and Blizzard delivered.
Well at least Blizzard is selling a flying mount in a time you can actually fly.
No they haven’t stopped planning. Just that by Blizzard’s own admission they plan these mounts and releases at 6 months ahead. Maybe even a year. Since their schedule was delayed they would not have known it would coincide with a possible sub loss from a content draught, because the supposed content draught would have been here even sooner.
Im pretty sure its the 7th or something
my 2nd account has been kept active by 6-month game time purchases since 2017. i just added time last month, and am now in-game looking thru the mount tab to see Squeakers as yet uncollected. so i presume to have to wait about a week to ride one
Certainly, deadlines change things. I dont want to be mistaken as some tinfoiler here, i’m simply ENTERTAINING the idea that due to the timing of the new year, it gives them an opportunity to attach the mount to a sub (they dont need to, do they?) which becomes an opportunity to latch on to subs, so to speak, in anticipation that in 2 months when the raid is cleared, subscription counts most definitely will be in reverse.
I’m not authoritatively deeming this as a “last tier, sub saver” mount. I’m simply saying it coincides with the new raid, and could absolutely help with the large sub drop off following the raid clear.
yes is tge 3rd mount so? why they should feel shame for selling in game cosmetic items?
You should have the mount by the 28th at most, but you will get it.
Any cycle of the latest version that goes beyond 6-8 months is a content drought. We don’t know when SL is going to be released. I doubt it will be in August like it was the last two times.
One of the most infamous content droughts was Siege of Orgrimmar, which was released on Sept. 10th, 2013 and WoD being released on Nov. 13th, 2014, a whopping FOURTEEN months. And since that was before Tokens came out, SCREW THAT completely.
The third Chinese New Year mount in three years. Go Figure…
Blizzard a “For Profit” Corporation, trying to make a profit. Go Figure…
I have to admit it is kind of cute. For moving to a six month sub I may consider it.
I’m not even sure it’s 6-8 months. People that arent uber casual are going to have aotc within a month, and either work on Mythic, or reclear a few times. After 3 months, it’s on auto pilot. Considering we could be 10 months until Shadowlands, for a legitimate raider/non casual, there’s going to be 5-6 months of nothing to do (draught).
Blizzard has been giving me almost every store mount free just for staying subscribed(which I was going to do anyway).
Usually rewarding loyal customers is considered a good thing for businesses to do.
The tried-and-true 2-year expansion cycle has always held up, though not always on the dot. August 11(my actual bday lel), 2020 is the second Tuesday and it would be the completion of two years.
It’s just a reskin anyway and they’ve been making “Year of the X” mounts for a bit now. Not like it matters anyway because you can effectively buy them with gold.
This “Legendary Gaming Company” you speak of was dead with TBC ending, and was fully dead with 3.2. The incessant catering to the lowest quality of player at the expense of people above that line is a bigger problem than them making optional mounts people can buy.
The OP probably plays FFXIV too, it’s so funny how everyone complains when Blizzard releases a cash shop mount, but they never say a word with FFXIV’s focus on the cash shop(the FFXIV cash shop puts it all in perspective.)
You’re saving money, yes, but you’re WASTING TIME.
I’m not wasting any time at all. I maintain active subs here, in FFXIV, and in EvE. Active subs, always available anytime I feel like playing any of them. Content drought here after I achieve some goals? Bounce over to FF, content drought there at the same time? Bounce over to EvE and turn big ships into little clouds of floating debris. So, for me and others like me to whom the cost of staying subbed to one, two, three, xxxx, games isn’t a big enough deal to worry about (combined monthly cost is still less than my wife and I going to dinner and a movie…a lot less) this is a great deal and since we’re paying anyway, the mount is just a fun freebie.
Sure, for people to whom that $15 that month they didn’t spend by unsubbing then resubbing later is important I could see it being an issue. Otherwise? Meh.
OMG. Buying immediately.
