I agree completely with you. This was likely planned a year in advance, since it’s for CNY and CNY is the Year of the Rat. Same thing happened last year with the Year of the Dog.
Sadly, you can’t educate some people. They’re just too happy wallowing in their own ignorance.
Then you’d have a rat mount that costs about 300k and people like you complaining that it’s just Blizzard being greedy and trying to drive token sales.
“Content drought” is relative to what’s CURRENT. I’m not saying it’s a waste of time to anyone who has catching up to do. However, I would argue that if you have not touched BFA at all, it’s not going to take 6 months to get up to speed. It’s free on one currency, but it’s definitely NOT free on the one currency you cannot get back once it is spent or not spent: TIME.
As it is said among “my” people: time is money. So it’s a waste of time right now. Not necessarily a waste of money, and it’s a cutely appealing mount despite that I have slain more than I have kept rats.
I was really trying to say that this is a bad time to get Squeakers if you want to go for the subscription route and for someone who kept current in the game. I got to give it to Blizzard on their uncanny ability to bring people back to Retail.
Actually, Pig was last year and Dog was the year before that. So this is the third year now with a CNY pet. I bet people will act surprised when we get an Ox mount next year.
Oh yeah, that’s right, it was too. I’m honestly not too familiar with the CNY schedule, but now that I think about it. We got a flying pig mount last year, and a dog the year before. Thanks.
So you won’t be playing six months from now? Okay, you have that option. I’ve been doing the six month recurring for years now because it’s cheaper than month to month, and I’m expecting to still be playing in six months. I can still cancel if I ever decide the game’s not worth my time anymore.
Meanwhile, players who want the mount but don’t want to subscribe can buy the mount directly with Blizzard Balance or cash, whichever they prefer.
I love how anyone who points out facts (this particular mount is a Chinese New Year mount, just like the last two Chinese New Year mounts) is instantly a “shill”.
But since I’m a “shill”, my post history must not have any posts criticizing anything Blizz has done…
Wait… so you can sub monthly or you can buy a 6 month sub and save money? And get a mount as a bonus? Blizzard is horrible, no company should reward loyalty.
That’s the risk: trying to get the most out of your game time before SL. That takes doing some soulsearching about the validity and merit of 8.3. You sound like you’re going to be doing something big-time, and I got nothing against it. What could end up happening is that you let most of a 6-month sub go to waste because you might find 8.3 to be lackluster. Most critically, there is no 8.3.5 or 8.4 projected to be released so it’s going to be a long trek across the wilderness.
Yet surprisingly, an industrious person with a main and a few alts could get Squeakers faster and cheaper ergo more economically. I bet I could do this without forking over $78, so long as I pledge to put in no less than 30 hours/week at max level.
Are you going to completely ignore the fact that a Blizzard employee specifically stated that these promotions are planned 6 to 8 months in advance, possibly longer? Because that’s happened. Ythisens was quite vocal about it actually. But hey, jam that tinfoil on harder, it’s clearly working for you.
