The issue isn’t that these specs aren’t meta, but that a) they are once again specs of a pure dps class ranking in the bottom tier, b) the logs (ie: factual proof) show this clearly and nothing was done and c) these specs were unduly nerfed multiple times in the weeks before live and we’re seeing what a colossal blunder it was.

You forgot d) every spec making up the bottom of the barrel was buffed except Frost and Arcane.

That is what logs do. They’re an accurate reflection of actual numbers based on the data the people submit. Logs are going to be infinitely more accurate than anecdotes about “but I saw X spec hit 50000000000 damage”.
The fact that other specs sitting at the bottom were buffed but Frost and Arcane were looked over just speaks volumes about how Blizzard has treated those two specs for the past 4 years. We’re not asking to be top dps, but we’d like the opportunity to at least be competitive against similar specs such as Balance and MM. I also believe that given the huge difference between how the 3 specs play and what attracts players to them, it would be nice if we weren’t consistently told “but you have 1 good spec, go play that”.

You make the mistake that people understand what “the logs” means. I mean mage isn’t broken—I do the highest dps in my +4 Necrotic wake, who cares about logs.

Idk what’s going on over at Blizzard HQ these days (probably nothing because they are all working from home) but so far balance is completely out the window.
As things stand right now if you want to be a competitive melee DPS you have to be an Unholy DK, if you want to be a competitive ranged DPS you have to be an MM Hunter, and if you want to be a competitive caster DPS you have to be a Boomkin (or possibly Affliction Warlock or Shadow Priest). That’s it, it’s as simple as that.
Each of the specs does almost double the DPS of the majority of other specs and many players pull those number without their BiS legendaries either because they’ve decided to hold off on making them or because the memories aren’t obtainable yet.
I’ve been playing this game since the Vanilla days and I don’t recall class balance ever having been this bad and skewed towards the front runners so blatantly. It’s so bad it’s like if you bring one person from the top performing specs it’s as if you brought two of the bottom tier except the bosses’ HP won’t scale higher for that extra person. Madness, truly!
I understand this year has been bonkers but they dead a$$ delayed the entire expansion ostensibly to work this stuff out and it’s worse than it’s ever been. I mean, ffs, the main reason they gave for the delay was that Nathria was not ready yet and they didn’t even fix Sludgefist’s horribly telegraphed rubble AoE until yesterday!
Honestly, if they missed such blatantly obvious things I have zero hope for them getting the nuances of class balance right. At the end of the day I don’t really care because I’ve always played Arcane as my main and I likely always will but it does feel terrible right now and I might just decide not to participate in higher endgame content until they sort this mess out.

I said during BFA that if arcane was poor again I’d be done. Looks like that may come to pass sooner than I expected.
If the top dps is 5,000 (just making up random numbers here) with no gimmicks and the last place is 4,700, I’m totally fine with that. But if it’s a range of 5,000 to 3,500 or whatever, that’s unacceptable.

M+ with glacial frag has been going pretty well. Raid has been the polar opposite. I felt like I was pumping on boss fights and then after boss kills I would look at meters and see I was pretty much dead last. Here’s hoping blizz gives us a look over.

Fire mages being middle of the pack I don’t think is acceptable either. We shouldn’t have to be on top of our game just to pull subpar DPS, especially versus other face-roll classes. Neither should Frost or Arcane.

Also, I wanted to let you know that this is Hotgárbage (used to be a Vulpera—constantly bringing up data about how Arcane is always the worst spec pretty much every tier)—name changed and Blizzard didn’t correctly link my old character. Go figure. Thought I’d let you know since it seems we have often shared similar views haha.
