-fixed an issue where Mages thought they were getting a raid spot, this will be fixed in the next reset on Tuesday, To better reflect them being benched.

Man I don’t get the mages are weak stuff. All 3 specs are killing it in raids and mythics. Yesterday saw a frost mage hit 6-7k In the raid. Arcane around 6. My fire mage 4-5.
Maybe in hardcore guild raids I guess they aren’t the best but in general they seem fine. I’m not a hardcore player myself.

Go look at logs.
Frost is bottom 3.
Arcane is bottom 5.
Fire is middle of the pack whick is fine.
Frost and arcane are trash tier.
If a frost or arcane beat your raid it’s because your raid is parsing grey and green.

Logs guys the logs!!! Omg omg the logs they says things! I don’t care I see plenty in raids and mythics and plenty competitive. My mage is competitive in fire and frost and I maintain my edge vs others, I’m good.

Well we’re primarily talking about raids where everyone is good at their class, which clearly wasn’t the case in your group, in that case Frost Mage would definitely fall behind. But yes, Frost Mages can do exceptionally well in trash groups, you are correct about that.

Fire is exceptional in Mythic+ and fine in raids.
Frost seems to be fine/viable in M+, but lacking in raids.
Arcane is like only for blind/deaf ppl that haven’t heard not to play arcane yet.
But all these frost mages complaining, isn’t it always the same for frost mage? Very rng proc dependent, and the procs never come in raids? I feel like frost has been a lower tier raid spec for years now. Nothing new here.

It is in these moments that I am glad to be in a casual guild.
They don’t care if the class is not optimal as long as you do all the DPS the class allows.
I’m not happy to be at the bottom of the list, but I don’t feel the pressure to switch specs or classes.

While people may have differing opinions, it’s important to remember that behind each avatar is a person. Assuming someone is arguing in bad faith more or less halts all forms of meaningful conversation. It’s easy to be condescending or troll behind the veil of anonymity, but people have to take it upon themselves to be the best version of themselves.
With that being said, it’s important to remember anecdotal evidence is just that, anecdotal. I was the highest or second highest dps on each fight we did last night in our first crack at normal raid. Does that mean frost mages are fine? No. Trying to use the logs of my own crack at nathria is NOT a resounding confirmation of how frost does since it was only compared to a small set of individuals. Logs are great as they allow you to go through and see what you did wrong, and how you can improve.
With that being said, frost mage is in a bad spot for the raid. We have some alright AoE with fragments, but you have to choose between AoE and single target. We’re currently near the bottom. Someone has to be the bottom, I get that. By such a large margin though, is the issue.
My logs for those who want to rip into me. I do know my big mistakes. Huntsman there was a dot on the shade so I had to spam sheep it. For hungerer I had the wrong legendary on. There were probably a few mistakes I also made, and I am working to clear those up.

You are saying because you did well doesn’t mean the spec is fine, he’s not.
He’s suggesting that the thousands of log parses are wrong but he’s right, yet he won’t cite his source or offer any data other than his “word”
Looking at your logs you did very well.
But the reason you were top in most fights is because your raid basically grey and green parsed on all fights while you purple parsed.
It shows you that you weren’t top dps, even you at purple parsed still losing to green parses in terms of dps

Oh I agree completely. I honestly hope he/she posts their logs so we can just review them. I’m not super amazing at going over logs, but a few pals in discord are and usually can break them down for me/teach me how to read them. I do want to see, if they exist, these other frost mages dominating the charts so I can hopefully learn from them.

Like my guild was the same way.
If you look up my logs I just out parsed everybody in my guild so I was higher on the meters.
But I still lost sometimes in terms of raw DPS to Green parsers as a purple.
Imagine if your whole guild purple pursed? You would be towards the bottom in terms of DPS.
Just like current log show.

Oh yeah I’m super well aware. I usually go mage each xpac on and off since Wrath. I’m sad to see that they might be shelfed this xpac for now as I level up my shadow priest a bit more. I do need to go through and talk to our low parsers and help them out. I sadly don’t have any mages to bounce ideas off of in raid, I’m there for food and int
