New lore reveal in books. Elune, Azeroth, Sylvanas

Careful now, you’re fringing on something really bad here. Lets try not to confine GOBLINS to that specific “greedy, thief, money-monger” stereotype and as “sinners” shall we? I think there are enough underlying subtextual issues with how Blizz writes the other Horde races compared to the Alliance ones …

NO need to add that one to the list.

Beginning to suspect this is all intentional by one story dev with inappropriate personal motivations:

  • Orcs retcon’d to inherent bloodlust
  • Goblins go to purgatory for greed and criminal behavior even as children
  • Vulpera have murderous children
  • Tauren are wrong and also useless as a narrative trope
  • etc

Fun fact: The Kaldorei actually have an extended pantheon beyond Elune, it has been mentioned before. They are not Monotheistic, they are culturally what would be termed Henotheistic. Elune is their primary culturally accepted Deity, and the only one with state sponsored cultus, but they don’t outright deny the existence of other gods.

Trolls are doomed to have all their lands stolen, and worship primitive savage gods?

Fairly certain this is RPG, which is also Schrodinger’s Canon.

No, just because the name of a deity is not right, they are not wrong, they are not treacherous, nor false serpents…nor otherwise deceptive…you only define the tauren by their religion.

That’s not quite right, the Ancients are demigods in their culture, demigods and are all directly related to Elune, the legitimation of their god status is through their religious core, Elune.

I mean the wild gods are definitely still a thing that dates back from W3

No actually, it has been mentioned in a couple of the books, Only Elune is shown in detail, with the rest of the Pantheon being depicted as shadowed reliefs helping to shape the world in the temple of Elune in Darnassus. Or I mean, it was. Before, you know.

what are you talking about?

But this is the main reason why they end up in Revendreth! Ventir is indifferent to your status - scientist, knight or fanatic, the main thing is sin that harms the use of the soul for the good of Shadowlands.
It doesn’t matter how noble the goblins are, be they holier than Anduin, more environmentally friendly than night elves and safer than dwarfs, the main reason for all this will be greed. And for this they will be punished, for the thirst for profit.

I don’t know if I’d go that far. Maybe just an overfixation on cool / metal / hardcore / what-have-you? Or I’d believe a split between factions being traditional idealist VS gritty pragmatic, or something like that. And the uncomfortable insinuations could end up being a side effect.

No, they’re convenient pets for the By-Default Pure and Good Alliance races, who rarely get stories of their own. With Baine essentially being Disney’s Pocahontas to Anduin’s John Smith; and Hamuul is a handbag accessory for Malfurion. Plus, despite the fact that Blizz seems terrified to write them, they have slowly undermined the Tauren’s religious beliefs for the better part of a decade. To the point where their WORTHLESS & POWERLESS Racial Leader can’t apparently even find relevance in a Land of the Dead expac. With Blizz creepily inching towards Baine’s only value as a person being what value Anduin finds in him.

tbf polytheistic religions take many shapes, cultural heroes aren’t necessarily always worshipped in observable ways either, or at least relatively subtly compared to more important gods (yes I realize that I’m committing the cardinal sin of referring to this fictional place known as Earth and not established azerothian lore)

It does actually.

We both know that Elune could have been revealed as having a composite name of Elune Mu’sha.

But Blizzard chose to only have Elune be the “real name” of Elune.

This puts Night Elves in the center/truth of the story, and Tauren in the periphery, especially when it comes to Elune. Tauren are barely a step above Kul Tiran Tidesages., or Zandalari Lun’alai, due to this.

It’s an exacerbation of Blizzard “siding” with the Night Elves in making Malfurion “the first real druid”.

Yes but in-game, the Ancients aren’t worshipped.

Beyond irrelevance, he doesn’t even have any spoken lines in 9.1 lmao

Wait what, WOTA had Cenarius be the child of the Moon and Sun and not Malorne?!?!

And that would only serve what purpose? ah; to go at the expense of the night elves, oh man. Elune was and is coming into the setting as a NIGHT Elf deity, how funny would it be if this deity had the wrong name in their own culture, if this deity was invented for this culture by the puplisher.

the tauren have in part hijacked this “culture” trait, to make them the horde nes in some kind and to explain why they can use …druidspells like moonfire.

And when it comes to the Earthmother…Tauren will be at the center.

Zahir, you yourself were advocating for Elune and Mu’sha to be equivalent names for Elune in my An’she thread, as a defense to my claims Elune is a Night Elf, and thus Alliance, deity. You swore up and down that both names were equal.

So now you’re arguing Elune is of course the real name.

You’re fake as hell lmao
