New Lich King statue is up on the gear site

It’s only $1099

As someone who collects statues, most bigger than this one, it’s way over-priced. It’s a nice statue, but it should be under $800. I know that’s still expensive, but in the statue world, it’s not that bad. It looks like there’s 271 of them for sale.

The weird thing to me is that it appears as though they’re trying to justify the price by labeling it at 26 inches tall and emphasizing that it weighs 40 pounds.

Meanwhile, other statues like Illidan or Thrall are 23-24 inches tall, and weigh 38 pounds.

So you’re essentially paying double price because:

  1. It’s Arthas.
  2. It’s Arthas.
  3. You guessed it, it’s Arthas.
  4. It’s a little taller and heavier?

Edit: Don’t get me wrong its an absolutely amazing piece of artwork, but I don’t know if this was a good move in terms of pricing.

The sculptor is Brian Fay, I 100% recommend you check out his Instagram (@Fayworks) he is amazing. Sadly he hasn’t posted in a while, since like 2019.

That’s a beautiful statue and I bow to the talent of the sculptor. I truly mean that.

Paying over $1000 for a 26" tall statue is beyond insane.

everything about the statue is perfect, and it encapsulates everything i’d want in an Arthas statue should i want to go buy one.

but yeah that price tag is a bit insane for a statue like this, i try to keep my statues in the $250-400 range even though that limits my choices a lot.

Keep in mind, all their stuff is sold through that 3rd party site, and “awesome sale!!!” prices seem to be baked in.

The first round of statues THROUGH BLIZZARD were all in the $300 range.

Then they switched to 3rd party site… and the new statues have been $400. BUT … all you have to do is wait a couple weeks for a 20, 25, 30% off sale… and you’re back to the $300 price range.

So as someone said, this is “worth more like the $700 range” … guess what? With the 30% off sale, it practically is.

As someone that has Sylvanas, Illidan, Lillith, and Thrall, I can say they’re worth $300.

But $700??? cmon…

Sorry, Blizz. I have deep pockets, but I’m not paying $700 for something “just because I can.” I know when I’m getting scammed, sorry.

But it’s art and everyone can nod sagely with knowledge at a gathering. That has to be worth something.

How would you get servered pigs in a blanket otherwise.

The cost could easily be justifiable if it was also a small air conditioner. :ice_cube: :ice_cube:

Im not into that sort of thing, but pretty cool for those who are.

That’s more than what you could pay for a new gaming console.

I wouldn’t even pass water on an Arthas statue for what good it’ll serve.

Since most don’t know much about statue prices, go to sideshowtoy.com and look at the prices for 1:3 & 1:4 scale, which this statue looks to be. 1:3 scale usually starts around what they’re selling this statue for. Prime 1 is a good company to compare to.

They’ve sold 6 since my original post.

And that is what Hammerdan did, he shared his opinion. This is a forum for discussion and discussions often have opposing opinions.

The buyer rarely ever gets to set the price for handcrafted products like this, if you don’t like the price the seller/crafter set then don’t buy it.

To be fair, I have the Illidan statue and it’s 24" tall with the wings. If Arthas is 26" tall, he’s more than a little taller. There’s also a lot more details on Arthas because of the armor so I can see how it would be double the price. Must take a lot longer to paint.

Collectors need 1 of everything. This is for them not the casual fan, thats why they will pay.
