Then I don’t think you’ve been paying attention to how blizzard has been handling classic, or how they handled dungeon design post vanilla.
The reality is they removed most of the incentives to spam dungeons in the first place, they also put a 1 cap reset on heroics. They might have tolerated it to a limited degree in vanilla, sort of as even in vanilla there was still the 5 run per hour cap, but it also wasn’t being abused nearly as much.
its still abused in retail to this day to farm mogs and pets.
that alone tells me that this isn’t being used to deny dungeon farming, otherwise this change would be implemented in retail too
I think they need to come out and explain their reasoning then - as Own’s also mentioned, we need to understand why Blizzard did this - everyone here pays monthly to play this game and we deserve some transparency when restrictions - regardless of how reasonable they might seem to some people - are placed on our ability to play the game.
The farming of instances itself is not exploitative, but rather the FREQUENCY of it. Obviously the 5 per hour limit was enacted to combat this, but as players will do, they found a way to over the top abuse it throughout a 24 hour period, slaughtering economies to the extent that the average player could not afford things UNLESS they too rolled a mage just to have access to a torrent of gold.
Players take what should be run of the mill game elements and take them to the extreme. As I have repeatedly posted, this is just as damaging to server economy health as the results of botting. Too much gold and too few sinks.
Agreed - and I think people would say that the Classic instance grinding maybe has a more negative impact on the overall economy, but I’d want Blizzard to state that here. In my opinion that is a pretty difficult stance to defend - I’d say Botting has a much more extreme impact.
The purpose is their ongoing effort to eliminate exploitative and automated behavior. The solution is a change that does nothing to affect those. Genius.
And if limiting behaviors like boosting, or gold inflation from excessive dungeon spam increases subs or keeps people from quiting because it leads to a healthier game then it was the right decision, no?
except people literally still do it to farm non vanity items as well.
I’ve seen people farm those vanity items so they can get gold so they can afford a wow token and play for free.
So, instead of questioning this change and begging for a different one… you just accept it with open arms like some sort of lemming merely because it doesn’t affect you personally?
I’m hoping that the reason that they did add the limit is just temporary and have yet to officially add any counter to raid/Instance IDs because of this. I’v seen some broken bots trying to instance farm at SM (Mostly lvl 50-56 Warriors in your generic Blue quality BoE’s) trying to enter back out and re-enter the dungeon only to keep failing because they hit the lockout limit. Hopefully the system is designed to “Tag” the accounts that are using such strange behavior to more accurately figure out what are bots.
they have literally allowed boosting for 16 years. why have an issue with it now? and why only in classic?
and yet not doing anything about gold inflation in retail shows they don’t give a crap about inflation.
healthier by whose standards? whats healthier about denying me the ability to play the way i want? for a hardcore pro flyer who was severely anti removal of flying in retail, you sure seem to be against blizzard when the changes are stuff you don’t want. why is it okay for you to have WHAT YOU WANT, but not others have what they want?
If it lead to a healthier game, I’d agree, but it doesn’t, so I won’t.
It’s like Blizzard is coming in like an angry dad saying “You can only play outside for 6 hours within a 24 hour period with your friends, decide how to use that 6 hours however you want, but thats how it sits”
I pay to play this game like everyone else, I only have the 1 account, I don’t boost (though I have gotten boosted on my rogue), I don’t do any sort of behavior that would be considered exploitative or abusive outside of using the in game mechanic of resetting the dungeon 5 times within an hour to help guildmates obtain their dungeon pre-BIS… yet this still impacts me because I have alts, I’m running numerous dungeons a day as a result of the characters I have… but just because the change doesn’t impact you, you accept it?
