Except this change doesn’t out right ban them. It prevents them from being spammed, you really think anyone is watching someone stream dungeon spam for 6+ hours a day?
And yes the only definition that matters is blizzard’s. If you choose to believe they didn’t know exactly who would be impacted by this that’s on you. I tend to think they knew and they very much intended to target anyone spamming dungeons more than 6 hours a day.
Now they should 100% add some visibility to your current lockout count.
I think abused is really the wrong term here - is it abuse for someone to spend 7 hours a day farming ZG lockouts till they hit their 30 cap? If the answer is yes… then why not fix the inherent problem as people are suggesting, which allows mobs to be pathed around a dungeon in a way that allows a skilled mage to solo it?
If the answer is no - then why not a lower limit? Lets make it 5 dungeons a day per account - that would stop those darn exploiters! /s
Opinion or fact aside, Blizzard decided 30 is the cap due to the abuse. This is the reality. Debating on how/why we got here makes no difference. Clearly they put a cap on it because it was being abused in an unintended way that, in their eyes (and many others) that is detrimental to the health of the game.
And what’s your reaction going to be if blizzard stands by these changes and does declare that spamming dungeon resets while technically doable was not intended design.
If they come out and say it wasn’t intended design then I’ll admit I was wrong. That is very unlikely though because theyve allowed spamming dungeons since the games inception. So yeah, I will be waiting for your presence in the thread explaining the change being reverted.
So I should point out some of the most popular classic streamers literally do these types of solo farms for hours on stream, and thousands of people watch - just because this isn’t something you would want to watch someone do doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. The ‘race’ so to speak of getting a lvl 1 to 60 the fastest is a real thing - and it adds a fun element to an old game.
I do choose to believe they do not know who would be impacted. Blizzard has proven over and over again that they do not have a good grasp of how a large chunk of their community engages with and plays the game. Look at the recent Auction House changes as an example.
The 30 limit doesn’t solve anything. Wall hacking, pathing abuse, boosting, fly hacking, all of it still exists. This is like saying you’re totally ok with gold sellers being limited to 30 customers a day so long as they arent allowed to sell to 120 customers a day.
I’m sure those of us saying the change is wrong will admit we were in the wrong. However, I’d also make the argument that all the devs that were developing Vanilla are no longer at Blizzard, and the devs there now have no idea if it was intended or not.
I don’t think anyone thinks this is the perfect solution to the problem. It’s the solution Blizz decided to implement and likely not the last. To debate the effectiveness of said implementation is fair, but the purpose is clear.
